Hearing her speaking authoritatively made him a bit surprised.
"You are my student!" as if telling a new information.
"School time finished."
"We are still in School!"
"But" he cut her.
"Listen! I can be your brother's friend but you are my student. You should not forget that and me too." he got up.
She went and stood with the board support as her back is pressing against it, folding her arms over her chest, she started:
"Are you afraid?"
"What are you talking about Miss. Lal?" he showed his hand to stop her from speaking "The feeling you might have is called infatuation. A feeling you shouldn't have on your teacher. Not only that but no feeling allowed other than respect." crossing his arms and taking the support of his chair's head "I hope you understand what you were about to do yesterday. And please don't compare it with CPR."
"There might be only 4 or 5 years of age gap between us."
"What are you trying to say by that?"
"May be not now but in future when I will not be your student, we"
"Never! You are my friend's sister." interrupting her.
"But"
"I want all my student to have a great future, including you. So concentrate on your studies."
Tears started to form on her eyes.
"Why are you pushing me away?"
"Please don't cry! I'm not pushing you. I'm just saying what is right and what is wrong."
"Am I not your type? Do you have any girlfriend?" tears rolling down her cheek.
He brought his handkerchief and passed it to her but she didn't take, so he started to remove her tears.
"Even if you are not my student or my friend's sister, I can't. Feeling is not mutual. Try to understand Chakor."
"You are lying." locking her eyes with his with still tears flowing down.
He shook his head feeling that his words will have no value for now.
"I can see that." she added and started to cry hysterically.
He bent down a little and peeked her forehead affectionately like she is a child, making her close her eyes.
"Please don't! Calm down please!"
She slowly calmed down with still few sobs.
Pushing away the rest of the tears, she hugged him.
With all her force and whatever she could, she hugged him.
But he didn't reciprocate her action, he stayed like a statue with the sudden realisation of what he did and what she is doing to him.
How should he feel?
For the first time, someone is showing him affection other than the grandparents from orphanage.
For the first time, someone is hugging him like this.
And the person is his student.
And the person is his friend's sister.
How should he react?
"I love you ! I love you a lot!" she announced with her face against his chest with only his shirt separating the contact "I don't know how, when, why. All I know is I love you. I will only love you. May be my definition of love can differentiate from anyone else but all I can say is: I love you Suraj!" she kissed his cheek and left him in that position before taking her bag and running out of the school.
It took almost 14 to 15 minutes to sink the information inside him.
Nothing went in his mind except her words which kept echoing.
He can't. It's not acceptable.
The society will not accept this.
His mind will never accept this.
He got out of the world with his phone vibrating in his pocket.
Taking it out, he got the good information that he needed at this moment which is that he has no class today evening.
He can calm his mind and think about how to make her understand his view.
Taking his bag, he made his way to his apartment and jumped on his bed closing his eyes.
Minutes passed but nothing came as a convenient way to deal with her.
When he thought he should think again after dinner, he got a call from Vivaan asking him to join him in the pub they met.
After several pleading, Suraj accepted to grace the pub with his presence.
"Thanks a lot buddy for being here. I'm so happy today!" Vivaan smiling ear to ear!
He smiled.
"Sorry for choosing this place but I wanted to drink after a long time. I'm happy and I wanted to celebrate."
He ordered few shots of vodka before joining Suraj in a corner cabin.
"Do you want to taste it!" Vivaan asked showing his shot in front of his friend.
He shook his head.
"If you were in my place I'm sure you would have also had this instead of your orange juice."
He laughed and said "Tell me the reason so I can know what makes my friend happy."
"I saw my sister sing and dance happily after ages. 5 Months." Suraj stopped smiling or laughing or whatever actions he was doing hearing about Chakor "5 Months. Since the time she came to know we were going to shift, she stopped being the sister I knew for more than 17 years. It felt like I will never see her again. But then today, she was so so so" extending his hands "so HAPPY! So I'm happy!"
Suraj nodded.
"I'm sure it must be something related to her school. Something must have happened in school."
Suraj expression changed to a sad one knowing well that the happiness will not last long if he comes to know what is really happening.
Seeing his friend sad, Vivaan interrogated:
"What happened? What are you sad about when I'm telling about school?" making Suraj face him.
"No! Nothing!" bending again his head.
"Is it some problem in school? With other teachers? With the Princi? A love matter?" with a grin as Suraj shoot his head up hearing the last word.
"So it's confirmed!" Vivaan "Who is the lady Man? Tel me! Tell me!" like an adamant kid.
He shook his head.
"Tell me if you consider me as your real friend. Do you love her or like her?"
"I... I don't know."
"Is she a teacher?"
He shook his head.
"Someone working there?"
"No!"
"A student?"grinning ear to ear.
"Your sister!" bending his head.
Few minutes passes before Vivaan takes another shot and says:
"You like her more than just 'I like my students' tag. Am I right?" facing his friend.
Silence.
"If you think of me as your friend! Answer me! And please! Only truth!"
"May be!" after a lot of hesitation!
"Face me and tell me just yes or no! I don't want to play this 'May be' game. Do you like her?"
No answer.
"Dude! Come on yaar! Think of me just as your friend and not as her brother!"
Still no word from Suraj, just a tsunami of emotions through his eyes.
"Don't play with your emotions and hers Buddy. I know both of you well."
Suraj faced his friend.
"Just for your information, when she wants something that doesn't hurt anyone. She will get it." he added before taking another shot.
After that, no one said a word as Suraj was in his own world of thoughts of how to make her understand, while his friend is in double happiness for her sister and for his friend.
Vivaan was out of his level so Suraj has to drop him at his house.
When the door open there stood the girl who is making her teacher's mind fall apart.
She is smiling or could be said grinning seeing him with her brother at the door step.
"Your... your brother is over drunk! So"
"No problem." interrupting him "Come in." making a way for them to enter.
They entered and the boys started to move towards the stairs.
Chakor immediately locked the main door and ran to stand in front of them with her arms open making them halt in their movement.
Her brother regarded her with scrutinizing eyes whereas her Love as she feels, he is avoiding to see her.
"Bro! Can you go alone to your room?"
"Ya! Ya! I cannn!" trailing his words and his feet along with him after detaching himself from his friend "Come to my wroom buddy!" waving hands to both the person in the hallway.
Once she confirmed his brother was out of sight, she turned to find Suraj moving towards the door.
"Wait!" holding his wrist.
"I think it's better I get out of here now." trying to remove her hold as delicately as possible but he couldn't.
"Why? Maa & Dad aren't here, they went to attend a cousin's marriage in Dubai." he turned to face her to find her smiling shyly at him "How fool of me! Bro would have already told you." with a small laugh.
"I need to go Chakor!"
"But"
He shook his head.
She left his hand free and started to move close to him.
"What... What are you doing? I'm you teacher." moving back.
"Not here!" she says calmly seeing in his eyes.
"I'm you brother's friend."
"I knew that." still moving towards him.
"It's wrong!"
"Everything is fair in LOVE! I thought you knew that." blocking him as his back hit the door.
