In today's time when viewers are used to seeing a husband(s)/partner treat his wife/partner with dislike or hatred...taunt or disrespect; spamdomain's character of the week has totally bowled us with his unwavering support, belief and trust. The man of the week is none other than Neil Khanna of Star Plus Naamkarann essayed by the charming Zain Imam.
This entire week saw Neil revealing to Ananya that he knew she was Avni all along ... him trying to lighten the mood of an otherwise serious Avni... engaging Avni in some silly nok-jokhs...standing by her side...protecting her from Dayavanti's evil paws...reminding Avni of her strength... not allowing her to fall weak and much more. In short he was the husband every girl wished for.
After getting to know that Avni was wronged in her childhood, and the the extent of her sufferings at the hands of Dayavanti Mehta. Neil decides to stand by Avni in her fight. Both Neela and Nanno were doubtful whether or not Avni will accept Neil's help because it is not in her nature to do so but Neil passed with flying colors, and Avni was more than happy to join forces with Neil. What we got to see this week in Naamkarann was Avni finding someone she can depend upon, someone she can trust and count on. You may ask how that is possible since Neela, Nanno and Ali have always been with Avni. So what makes Neil special?
The reasons are twofold. One that he is a cop. Avni has lost her faith in the judicial system, and therefore we can only assume the extent to which she can and will go to punish Dayavanti. Also, the fear of the system failing her again can push Avni to take drastic measures. And for a person like Avni who has made it her life's mission to punish Dayavanti she wouldn't hesitate to cross the line if necessary. But Neil's support changes things drastically. Neil has proved time and again that he is a sincere cop who would go that extra mile for truth and justice. Having an officer like Neil, who has already promised her with absolute determination that Dayavanti Mehta would be punished for all the atrocities she has ever done, and that Avni and Ayesha will get justice lets a person like Avni renew her hopes. The second reason is that Neil is her husband . Avni is living a lie. The world with the exception of Neela Ma, Nanno and bff Ali; knows her as Ananya Verma. Not even in her wildest dreams would have Avni thought that Neil would marry her, let alone marry her after knowing her reality. Avni is in for a shock when Neil reveals to her that he knew who she was and that he married her regardless of it. Getting accepted for who she truly was is not something Avni is accustomed to. Being the illegitimate daughter of Ashish Mehta whose Naamkarann was never done, Avni is used to the taunts and bitterness of the world, but not acceptance. Neil though annoyed that she hid her truth from him, and lied to him time and again regarding numerous things; not only marries her but also joins his name with hers. If Neil the cop had promised Avni that he would help her get justice. Neil the husband showed how he would stand by her, shield her from every harm and be someone who she could count on. Also in a twisted way Neil gave Avni what her father could never giver her His Name'. I agree that both Avni and Neil don't consider their wedding as anything more than a temporary arrangement, but we all know that it will change soon than we think. But regardless of the future of this marriage, she will be known as Ananya Neil Khanna/ Avni Neil Khanna to the world. I know the the tradition and thinking is old, and even after marriage your identity is your own, but there is no denying the fact that after marriage a wife's name is attached to her husband's name. Neil is saying that this is a drama but every step of the way has proven himself to be the life-partner Avni deserves. The one who can make her smile, wipe her tears and stand by her as her pillar of strength no matter how strong the storm gets.
Avni has a hard time trusting people but Neil's magic has started to do its work. Avni hugging Neil after he promised to get her justice... her taking Neil's help when he asks her to (after flower shower)...and that radiant smile that he was able to bring on her face after she visits Ashish's room was testimony to the truth that the wall that Avni had build around her heart has started to crumble slowly. She is beginning to have faith, learning to trust and perhaps even love.
Now who wouldn't want a hubby...a friend...a life partner like Neil?
