The Introduction
To say Shivaay was flabbergasted, would be an understatement. He was beyond expressions. He was aware about the arrival of few of their relatives from the village, to bless the newly weds i.e., Annika and him but what stood in front of him, wasn't a few relatives from the village but a village of few relatives at the station, with a 32 inch long smile and 32 kilos heavy luggage respectively.
Am I mistaken? They can be tourist over here too; I mean c'mon no way can so many people show up for a ritual.
I mean look at them they travelled one thousand three hundred and sixty kilometers for a ritual, a ritual?''
Shivaay still tried to reason himself but the truth to be told, they were here for a ritual and they were the right set of people, whom Dadi had asked Shivaay to pick from the Navi Mumbai railway station and yes they did cover a distance of one thousand three hundred and sixty kilometers for a ritual, he sighed.
Coming out of his stupor, Shivaay mentally started counting the number of people standing in front of him and immediately called Khanna to send another 8 fortuners to the station.
By the time Shivaay reached Oberoi Mansion, his spine had given up, the number of times he had bent to take the blessing, he must have done his two days of cardio schedule, more than that what was more painfully, was the pat that his back received, legally they shouldn't be even called pats. He was sure that his white back, by now, must have turned into a blackish blue color. What he doubted was, whether or not had his any spinal bone fractured?
Right now all he wanted was his treasure of medicines, some sprays and his bed.
As he made his way towards the staircase, his eyes missed the sight of Omkara, sitting in the corner of the lobby and munching onto something.
To Omkara, the Oberoi mansion looked more like a circus than a home, to make this into a circus in it's truest sense, what lacked was, someone walking on a rope with a stick.
But what shocked him more were his thoughts, he was right now betting himself, if he said out loud what he was thinking he was sure someone from the crowd would be readily capable to pull of a stunt like that, and just like that another chuckle made it's way out of Om while he munched onto the nachos salad his elder brother had baked for the few' relatives, who were to grace the Oberoi mansion for few' days, and just like that Omkara doubted the latter few' too. Other than this what amused him was what Shivaay had cooked for the relatives from the village, though no doubt they wouldn't have denied it but surely this wouldn't have been their preference!
Chuckling again, Omkara imagined Shivaay's expression when he would get an idea of the round off calories these people took per meal. And just like that Omkara found another spoon attacking his bowl, he turned right, finding a little pissed off Rudra.
To Rudra, everything seemed petrifying, literally every damn thing. Firstly, there was no space to breath and secondly, the amount of time he has seen people openly burping and farting was straight out disgusting and horrifying! But the bigger tension he had right now was his room; He could yet again see his room going to someone else. Previously it was his Soumya, aahh his?
Who snatched his room and threw him out of his own bloody room and then disgraced it by tidying it and now that he, after a lot of ordering and tantrums, had gotten a room ready for himself he could clear see someone else using it's luxury, Sigh!
Now all he was left with was sharing Zulfi Singh Oberoi's room, mentally already agitated on the nights that would now be gone in untangling his buttons and beard from his O's hair. Poor soul was in real crisis.
What happened Rudy? You look a little annoyed.'
Om spoke, initiating a conversation and slightly worried upon his younger brother's mood.
Annoyed? I am everything in its synonym! O'
Rudra said with a mouth full of salad, gulping, he continued,
Every other person I met has asked me this question remember me? I am this Chachi; I am that fufa, last time we met, you were 6 months old. Really O we met, No! You don't meet a 6-month-old baby, you see him! And are they really expecting a grown up of 23 years to recognize someone, who apparently met at the age of merely half a year. My question is why are they even questioning me? Because before I can think of a response they already have answered their own question. And this doesn't end here, what follows right after is even funnier, last time I saw you, you were this tiny and now you have grown up so tall, Oh my bad that I functioned like a normal human and grew up, sorry to trash your hopes of seeing me like the tiny you saw me exactly 22 and half years ago.'
Rudra poured his frustration to Omkara without a pause for breath and munched another spoon full of the nachos salad.
Hey, you ate the last bite'
And that's what you chose to say after my long rant, O'
Om gave Rudy a look of I-don't-give-a-penny-to-your-thoughts and carried on with licking off the spoon, before Rudra could put a fight with Om, both Om and he noticed the noisy filled room suddenly turning into waves of whispers and then dying down to pin drop silence and every eye fixed on one spot, when the turned towards the source for such an abrupt change, they stood there awe struck because descending down the stairs were the enchanting image of royalty.
Mr. & Mrs. Shivaay Singh Oberoi
Looking every bit of beauty and happiness, hands in hands, they captivated everyone's attention, complimenting each other they walked to the center of the room and sat down on the decorated swing that was placed for the occasion.
Where Annika was glowing in Golden, Shivaay ruled it in all black (Their engagement dresses).
However they married each other, the fact is bhaiya couldn't have gotten a better life partner than Annika bhabhi.'
And Omkara couldn't agree more to Rudra's words, though how they married and exactly how Annika agreed to marry Shivaay had literally torn him apart but somewhere, even then, he was happy that Shivaay had married Annika and not Tia. His happiness had doubled up when Annika had accepted the marriage- not forgiven Shivaay yet but accepted Shivaay as her husband, he was sure though, one day Shivaay will earn his forgiveness too. And now from few days that he has been watching them, he noticed how they both were adapting each other's presence happily just like a couple arranged into marriage.
True Rudy, just look at them, they radiate love in dadi's words, they radiate takkar ki ishqbaazi, someone has to be really mentally challenged to not know that these two are immensely in love with each other.'
Haw, are you calling my Bhaiya and bhabhi mentally challenged? Wait until the function isn't over, I'll tell bhaiya what you were bitching about him. And also about Choti maa, though I agree with Choti maa's part'
And both the brothers broke into fits of laughter, though ironical much but what Rudra said was unfortunately a legit truth, the two in love were actually unaware of their own feelings. * Sigh *
The rasam started, one by one, everyone came lifted Annika's veil, complimented Annika, congratulated Dadi and Pinky for getting such an angel like bahu, fed sweets to both Annika and Shivaay, gifted them something and the process continued peacefully until;
Someone from the crowd questioned,
How many months?'
Not a day more to a month,'
Jhanvi answered.
And when is the baby due for?'
Another person piped in curiously, While Om, Rudra, Priyanka and Soumya stood flabbergasted. Shivaay and Annika chocked onto the sweet that they were fed, Red and shocked, they sat still.
