Aishwarya Rai Bachchan signs Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's next?

Last year, Anil Kapoor made waves when he shared his first look in and as Fanney Khan. The film, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, is an official remake of Dominique Deruddere's Everybody's Famous. While the project had gotten delayed, looks like it's now back on track and with the addition of a new cast member - Aishwarya Rai Bachchan! According to reports, Ash will play the leading lady opposite Anil. A source revealed, "Aishwarya is part of Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra's film. It's a drama. It's his kind of cinema. KriArj Entertainment has joined hands with Mehra for the project. The makers will soon lock the other cast. The movie will go on floors by the end of this year."

AISHWARYA RAI BACHCHAN REUNITES WITH ANIL KAPOOR AFTER 17 YEARS

Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who have previously shared screen space in Satish Kaushik's 2000 directorial, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai, and Subhash Ghai's 1999 musical, Taal, are now set to re-unite for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's next, Fanney Khan.

However, Mirror has learnt that in the film, which will be shot entirely in Mumbai, the duo is not paired with each other.

Prernaa Arora, who is co-producing the film with Arjun N Kapoor and Rakeysh, confirmed the news, clarifying that Anil hasn't started shooting yet. "We go on the floors by the year-end. It is a happy, slice-of-life film.We approached Aishwarya for the part and are glad she agreed to come on-board," she added.

Fanney Khan, a comedy-musical, is one of the two films that Aishwarya will do this year. It is also her first film after Karan Johar's multi-starrer romance, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which released in October last year.

At the recently concluded Cannes Film Festival, the 43-year-old actress had revealed that she has green-lit another film as well. "I took a break for the past five months because of personal reasons.I'm glad I did. It meant a lot for me, personally, so I didn't have any professional meetings. I started last week and I have liked two subjects already," she was quoted as saying.

Fanney Khan marks the directorial debut of Atul Manjrekar, who has been a part of the ad world for a decade and is a long-time associate of Mehra.

It was previously reported that the film was the official Hindi remake of the critically acclaimed drama, Everybody's Famous!, directed in English and Dutch by Dominique Deruddere, and that Anil will step into the shoes of 64-year-old European or as actor-writer Josse De Pauw, Khan who had played the lead in the original. Now, we hear that the team is making changes to the script. After his silver-haired turn in Dil Dhadakne Do, Anil will be seen in a blingy look as the titular character in the film.

Happy, silce of life film with a new director. Just what I have been wanting Aishwarya to see in. Relieved that she is not starring opposite Anil.

After playing the sensuous poet, Saba in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's next is a light-hearted musical comedy titled Fanney Khan. "Aishwarya is onboard. She was our first and only choice. I can't reveal the plot of the film, but it's more like a slice of life, says the producer Prerna Arora of KriArj Entertainment.

"The youth will connect with the movie, and her character will inspire them. We promise you've never seen Ash in a role like this before. It's diametrically opposite from her earlier films like Jazbaa and Sarabjit. In Fanney Khan she is a bundle of happiness and positive energy, she adds. Prerna mentions that actor Anil Kapoor is also a part of this film. "Yes, Anil is onboard too, but they aren't cast opposite each other. She is the lead protagonist. Produced by Rakesh Om Prakash Mehra, Fanney Khan will be directed by newcomer Atul Manjrekar.
