Akshay wants a woman who'll be the perfect trophy wife that he can take around but he doesn't want her liberal thoughts, her liberal dressing sense etc, & most importantly she should be coy in front of the family. But when she expresses her thoughts to him in private, he finds it difficult to accept them.
Myra does not want to compromise because this is the era of equality & feminism where women need to break free from patriarchy & be independent. A mere gender difference should not subjucate her to unequal treatment & subservience. She, therefore, decides to keep Akshay at a distance by ignoring him completely. A woman cannot be touched without her permission afterall. Interesting though that she can hold Kabir's hand but Kabir cannot hold her hand.
Rhea believes in living life her way, by her rules. Her act of getting drunk is an exercise of her right of freedom while Nikhil getting drunk is disrespectful & requires an apology.
Kabir lets Myra be & is perfectly fine with Myra going on dates with Akshay. He even picks out outfits for her & cheers her on. But at the same time, he books honeymoon tickets for them, & does not leave an opportunity to let her know that he's the right choice for her. He believes in making up for Myra's inability to think.
Nikhil wants to be the man of the house & takes it upon himself to expose Kabir & protect the Kohlis. But the moment his plans fail, he becomes a victim who was manipulated into doing it all by Akshay, absolving himself of responsibility.
Mrs Kohli advocates for equal treatment & claims to love all 3 daughters equally. But Myra's marriage is priority. Rhea will eventually get married so we can think about her later. Abha can be taunted once in a while due to her hidden fears.
Abha has been in a bad marriage, & hearing Myra's concerns should have been a red flag for her. But she does not think too much about it & asks her sister to bring in the romance.
I love these flawed characters. Damn they're so human.
My only question is-
😆😆😆
