I'm confused because it can go either way. I'm especially confused because Avni doesn't seem to be wearing an sindoor in the morning after scene.

But I feel like he would want to tell her that its fake, but than realise he gets to investigate Avni and will try to manipulate the situation into his favour.

Neil is turning into Mysterious character.even he doesn't know what he s doing.Jus for investigation he can't do these things.bt then I feel he s jus doing this to protect Avni since he loves her a lot

Yes Neil may try to use this situation in his favour and with intention of not allowing avni to do anything wrong

Yes now since ananya has become negative in DM eyes DM can so anything too though not to lvl of her those days wherin she tortured young Agni
So protecting avmi could be one major reason too
