It was a fresh morning and Gauri was looking more cheerful. Both were in a lighter mood and was enjoying the scenic beauty from the patio. It was magnificient. To his surprise she started the conversation.
"Omkaara ji pata hai, main jab choti thi, meri papa har suryodhay pe yoga karthe the.. aur main bhi uske saath suryodhay dekthi thi.. Bahut khubsoorat pal tha wo sab..
First time she is opening up regarding her family. She never used to speak about her family to him.
"Tumhaari papa koi bimaari ki waja se guzar chuke the?
"Haan.. Uski kidney failure hua
"Am sorry, Gauri. Kitni saal ki thi tum, tab?
"10 saal ki. Paanchvi class mein thi. Phir maa ke saath dukhaan sambhalna pada.. Issliye padaayi chodna pada. Mujhe abhi bhi afsos hai, ki maine padaayi poori nahi ki. Par kya karthi, meri maa akeli nahi kar paa rahi thi issliye humhe bhi uski saath dukaan sambalna pada
"Abhi bhi poori kar sakthi ho tum. Main private tutor arrange kartha hoon agar tum chahthi ho.
"Abhi kaise poori kar sakthe hain Omkaaraji?
"Kar sakthi ho.. Private tutors tumhe prepare kardenge.. aur exams private mein de sakthi ho
"Sach? Gauri's eyes widened in anticipation
"Haan.. bilkul.. Hum wapas jaake isske baare mein saari info collect karlete hain
"Par ghar walon kya kahenge..?
"Wo tum mujpe chodo.. Tum karna chahthi ho naa.. main arrange karta hoon.. Kisi ko pata nahi chalega. Akhir hoo na main, tumhaari best buddy
"Thank you.. Best buddy. Gauri smiled with all her heart. Seeing her face, he knew for once he has striken the right cord in her heart.
Gauri was so happy. She can complete er education? This is one thing she would strive to do at any cost.
After she returned back, this was the first soulful conversation both of them had. The day couldn't have started with a much better note. They went for shopping together and attended recreation club activities in the noon. This buddies thing was really helping her and she was easing out into comfort zone without trying to run away from him for eternity. Evening they were playing like crazy children in sand. The beach was magnificent and there was carefree aura in the atmosphere. He lifted her up and dropped in the wave and was laughing so hard.. She got irked up and she made a sand ball and threw at him. They tried to run from each other and ended up falling on one another. After all the fun time, both freshened up for the dinner. It was a candle light dinner and the ambiance was very much enticing. Both of them had smile on their faces and were waiting at the dinner table.
"Gauri, u know.. after so long, I felt really happy and light today. Thanks to you..
"Haan bahut mazaa aaya aaj ke din.. She smiled
She was wearing a navy blue sleeveless knee length dress which they bought that afternoon. She wasn't even wearing any accessories except her mangalsutra but still managed to look so beautifull. Omkaara's poetic mind was awake looking at her. They were having dinner and he went in between to order a drink of his choice. To his surprise, he met Mallika.
"Om .. What a surprise.. Mallika hugged him..
"Mallika.. Tum yahan?
"Actually I wanted to meet my friend here.. What are you doing here..
"I was just taking some alone time with my wife
"Wife? What.!! Are you..!!
Om just realized mallika is not aware that he is married.
"Lambi kahaani hai.. Baad mein batata hoon..
"Am so angry at you.. you never told you and ridhima got married.. Invite bhi nahi kiya.. Shivaay ne bhi nahi invite kiya..
Om's face changed. "Mallika, actually I broke up with Ridhima almost 2 years ago. I married Gauri..
"Gauri.. Really.. I knew ki Ridhima is not the right one for you.. Anyways.. Introduce nahi karoge?
"Sure.. Comeon.. Om came along smiling with Mallika..
"There.. She is my wife He said with a twinking eyes.
Mallika saw Gauri. She turned towards Om. "Wow, Om she is so pretty. You are one lucky man
"I am.. I am Om was chuckling.
Both went towards her. She stood up seeing this new person along with Om.
"Gauri.. Yeh hai Mallika.. She is like our family. Shivaay ki best friend hai yeh.. aur Mallika she is Gauri
"Hi Gauri.. Mallika hugged Gauri.
"Hi Mallika ji
"Oh please itna formal mat ho.. Please call me Mallika.. Waise Om ne to bataya nahi aap log ki shaadi ki baat. I was very angry at him. But looking at you, I guess wo apni beautiful wife ko protective rakhna chahtha hai.. humhaari nazar se.. Hmm.. right naa. Mallika was in her usual chirpy self.
"To batao.. What do you do..
"Main textiles division mein kaam karti hoon
"Oh.. that's great. To batao.. Om aur tumhaari prem kahaani kaise shuru hui thi? Shaadi kab hui thi..
Gauri looked at Omkaara. "Humhaari shaadi Bareilly mein hui thi.. 1 saal pehle..
"What you guys are married for a year.. and I don't even know it. This is bad om.. How can you not tell me?
"Guys tum dono baatein karo.. I will get something to drink for all of us
Gauri and Mallika sat down for a talk. She saw the candle light setting.
"Oh.. Am I disturbing your romantic date.? Gauri?
"Nahi nahi.. Mallika aisa koi baat nahi They were chit chatting with each other. Mallika was enquiring about Gauri and Gauri about Mallika
"You know what Gauri.. I am relieved ki Om is not with Ridhima and he married you. She was not the right person for him. Agreed he was in a relationship with her for 5 years.. but she didn't understand him a single bit. She was trying to force her likes in the relationship. Om bahut pareshaan ho jaa raha tha kabhi kabhi.. Hmm..finally I am glad that she is out and he married you..
Gauri was shocked inside but chose not to react. Who s this ridhima? She was in a 5 year relationship with Omkaara and she never knew about her anything. After some more talks, Mallika left and Om and Gauri were at the dinner table. They were done and Om was having a drink. Gauri tried to speak normally but she could not be very normal because of the nudging question.
They went back and changed still she was roaming with a serious thoughtful expression. He didn't notice it initially but not too long. "Gauri.. kya hua.. you seem to be deeply thinking about something
"Nahi.. aisa kuch nahi hai She tried to give a half smile.
She lied down whilst he was wondering what was running in his mind. Last meeting was with Mallika. Did Mallika tell anything that she felt hurt.. ? No Mallika is a very sensible person. May be something unintended?
"Mallika ne kuch kaha?
"Nahi.. Mallika ji bahut sweet hai.. has has ke baat kar rahi thi..
"Phir kya soch rahi ho?
"Kuch nahi.. She almost lied down and covered with her blanket. Omkaara was looking at her in a strange way.
He lied down and was glancing her once in a minute. She still seemed to be in deep thoughts. She herself started the convo.
"Omkaaraji..
"Hmm..
"Ridhima kaun hai
He turned towards her with a widened eyes. Oh so this is the thing.
"Ridhima was my girlfriend of 5 years. Jab London art school mein padayi karte the, tab hum dono saath me rehthe. Par 2 saal pehle humhaare breakup hochuki thi"
"Kyun?
"She tried to manipulate me. Mr. Oberoi ke saath milke, mujhe kuch papers mein sign karwake business main launch karna chahthi thi.. She broke my trust.. jhoot bola mujhse
Now it was Gauri who was staring at him "Maine bhi jhoot bola automatically thought came in to her mind. Ok they have already discussed much about sach and jhoot.
"Kya tum ridhima ki baare mein nahi jaanti ho?.. Saare gharwalon ko pata hai.. I thought they would have told you..
"Nahi.. Mujhe pata nahi tha.. aap saath rehthe the..
"Haan hum ek dusre ki saath rehthe the..
"Matlab
"Matlab kya?
"Nahi.. wo.. aap aise kaise saath reh sakthe the.. Gharwalon ne kuch nahi kaha..?
"Oh.. Gauri.. Hum London mein the.. wahan pe logon ko saath rehne ke liye shaadi is not a requirement. Agar 2 log ki pasand ho..aise hi saath reh sakthe hain. Bachon bhi rak sakthe hain.. zindagi bhar.. shaadi wahan pe zaroorat nahi.. aur ab to yahan pe bhi.. kahin log aksar aise karte hain.. iss me bura hi kya hain?
Now how will she ask what she is actually intending to ask.? He is also giving roundabout answers..
Gauri again fell silent..
"Ab kya soch rahi ho..?
"Nahi kuch nahi. Omkaara got impatient.. "Kuch to hai tumhaari mann mein, jo tum poochna chahthi ho. Par nahi pooch rahi ho..
"Aisa koi nahi hai.. main bas soch rahi thi.. aise kisi ke saath itno dinon rehkar rishtha kaisa tod saktha hai..
"Main keh raha hoon naa.. wo apni selfish iraade ke liye mujhe use kar rahi thi
"usko bhi koi problem nahi thi? Aap ke saath aise rehne mein?
"Nahi.. She was also interested.. So we decided to move in together..
"Teek hai.. Ab so jayiye.. She tried to turn back and sleep
"Haan.. Humhaare beech aisa hi rishtha tha jo tum soch rahi ho..Par it was kind of ok since she was also interested and usko bhi sahi laga
Gauri turned back.. So he found out what was going on in her mind. "Teek hai She didn't know how not to sound disappointed. She hails from a smaller town and she is not used to all these. But she has seen all these in movies and may be people think it's normal too.
