<Chapter 10>

Gauri was in O.Mansion, in the evening.. Everyone in the household were present with big smiles in the face, especially Jhanvi. She was so happy that her son's suffering will finally come to end.

Anika met Gauri in the living room.. She was beaming with her pot belly. They hugged each other.

G: "Bhabhi.. badaayi ho..

A: "Nayi aarambh ke liye tumhe bhi badaayi ho, Gauri..

They both did bond very well for the time she was here. Gauri felt sisterly vibe from her always.. Protective elder sister.

After sometime, Jhanvi told om, they should meet Buamaa together. Gauri heard about Buamaa's heart ailment and wanted to meet her. She was the one who rooted for her from the beginning. Om stopped her from going.

"Kya hua.. humhe buamaa ko dekhe jaana hai..

"Jayenge.. par ek cheez shaayad tum bhool gayi ho..aao mere saath

He whisked her in to their own room. Gauri felt nostalgic for few minutes to be back in the same room.. Everything was same to same when she left. Omkaara noticed this. He opened the locker and took her mangalsutra.

Gauri was wondering what he was doing. He walked straight up to her and opened his palm.. It was her mangalsutra. She looked at him deeply for a moment.

He raised it to tie it around her neck but was hesitating what she would say. Gauri was standing silent without knowing how to react. She has indeed become a little emotional in the moment. Omkaara tied it around her neck. Gauri looked down and was controlling her emotions. Now that she is here, she can expect so many things like this. She can't feel weak. Om was feeling more emotional than her. The first time he put this around her neck, he had hatred filled in his heart. Now it looked like he is getting his life back. Gauri stepped back after he finished. She was about to leave.

"Ek aur cheez.. hai

He went and picked her sindoor where she left almost a year ago.. He hadn't even changed its position. This time, he didn't hesitate to fill her maang with sindoor.. Gauri was trying to stand expressionless. Omkaara noticed it and felt bad again. Certain wounds take time to heal. He was hoping her wounds heal faster. He has to make that extra effort to do it. He will do whatever it takes. Now that Gauri is here, he will show her all the love that he has been burying inside. He will win her over, again.. Omkaara thought with a resolve.

They went to see Buamaa.. Buamaa tried to get up but Gauri held her. She smiled at her and Omkaara..

"Gauri tum wapas agayi ho.. pata hai Omkie ki life kitna incomplete hogaya tha tumhaari bina..

Gauri was listening with a straight face. Buamaa did notice Gauri was not cheerful neither was Omkaara. She believed they will sort out differences and become one again.

"Gauri.. ek baat keh rahi hoon.. Zindagi mein aise koi zakam nahi jo teek nahi ho saktha. .Kuch zakme davayi se teek hoti hai, kuch waqt se aur kuch pyaar se She looked at Omkaara while saying the pyaar word.

They came off to their room after a long day. It was night already. Gauri wanted to change and freshen up. She changed into some simple salwar and kameez and was combing her hair. Thoughts came running in her mind how things changed from morning to evening. She was lost in the thoughts that she didn't notice Om looking at her for quite some time. She didn't pin it up as she used to do these days and left it loose. Omkaara on the other hand was not knowing whether to feel happy or sad. He is happy that she is finally here but she had drawn a line between them. He dared not to cross that since he was not ready to lose her once more.

Gauri was wondering where she would sleep. Omkaara had thought about it. She would not sleep on the bed so he wanted to arrange for a couch-cum-bed for her so that the family will not know. She settled on the couch with a blanket. She didn't even turn towards him for a formal talk. He was very disappointed at this disinterested behavior of Gauri. He wasn't yearning all this long to see this. His heart was in agony. She on the other side, was knowing that he is seeing her and was carefully avoiding his glances. He so wanted to go stick with her and cuddle in that couch. That would be the last day she would be here, then. He went up to her.. He didn't want her to sleep in couch when he slept comfortably in bed. Gauri saw him coming. She sat up with a question in her eyes..

"Gauri.. Omkaara was hesitating. He sat beside her in couch.

"wo.. actually I feel bad ki tumhe couch pe sona pad raha hai.. Main kal kuch arrangements kartha hoon.. tumhaare liye.. Wo kya hai na.. Hum yahan pe 2 beds naahi daal sakthe.. agar kisi ne dekh liya toh.. it won't look good.. he paused for a while.

"Koi baat nahi Omkaara ji. Main sofa pe hi so jaati hoon

"Nahi gauri.. aisa nahi hai.. tumhe yahan wapas lekar aaya hoon taaki tumhe har wo khushi doon jo tum deserve karti ho.. tumhaari khayal rakhna mera farz hain.. Main nahi chahtha firse saare adjustments tum karlo aur mein aaram se rahoonga.. Nahi.. issliye please aaj raat ke liye. Tum bed pe so jao.. kal main kuch couch cum bed type furniture le aata hoon.. Please maan jao..

Gauri got remembered of his infamous dialogue at the moment.. "Tum kya pativrata hoon?

"Main bed pe nahi sona chahthi hoon.. akele bhi.. aur aapki saath bhi..Main yahan so jaathi hoon.. mujhe koi taqleef nahi.. aapko aitraz hai.. main doosre room mein jaake soti hoon.. aur kal subah jaldi wapas aaongi. Gauri told him straightaway on his face.

Realization dawned upon him that the road for repentance is going to be one long journey. She has built a fortress inside which is seemingly tough to break. He heaved a big sigh.

"Teek hai.. Gauri.. I don't want to argue. Tum couch pe so jao.. He stood up and took his blanket.

He didn't want to sleep on the bed either. He reclined in the recliner and covered him up with the blanket. Gauri noticed this and chose not to express anything. She silently lied down and turned towards other side. Her heart was also heavy. Has she committed mistake by coming here.. She is not stubborn person by nature nor does it entice her to see her loved ones struggling before her. But her self respect was at stake. Her chastity was the one which was questioned before which the entire world is a small thing. She wasn't enjoying the situation at all. It doesn't feel happy to hurt someone, that too Omkaara. But she has to keep the guard for her own honour. Life has again thrown a uncertainity on her..

Omkaara on the other hand, was facing her and seeing her turned side. He was longing for her to be here, so long, but he didn't know how to cherish this. She is here but not with him. Has she changed a lot? He was thinking. She is not even ready to be near him. May be this is how she would also have felt, when he distanced herself inside these four walls during their contract marriage period.

Both were not aware, when they fell asleep..
