Did Amitabh Bachchan deserve to win NA for Paa?

I know NA these days are all about connections, alignment etc. Very few deserving actors get NA for worthy performance. AB Sr. is no different.

But, what do you guys think. Did his performance in Paa was worthy of NA?
I mean even performance wise (Ofcourse it was challenging) was his act as Auro was THAT phenomenal?

For me it was the awesome.
Even this act in Piku was not bad as this forum tries to make it.

Fair to discuss "NA worthy" topics when you offer the choices... vs. Who that year?? 😉

In Hindi films that year, he was head and shoulders above anyone. swept all the other actor awards. So no surprise there.

Not sure about regionals.

AB in paaa was phenomenal...the innocence in his eyes and dialogue delivery... too god..

But I felt NA should have given to Mamooty for his performance (3 different roles) in Paleri Manikyam the Malayan movie.. he had two more noteworthy award winning performances that year...paZhassi raja and Kutti srank..
And he was the finalist with AB ..but the jury head sippy and other members javed akhtar and asha Parekh voted for AB
