he gave her the line of honoring her parents.. i still see it as coercion in this day and age.. and what worries me more that he will possibly get his sister or daughter married to a picture.. if the situation arose... he never gave her the reason to speak... had he not seen her with ved ,perhaps he wouldn't be concerned about both famiies honour... that payal lives like a vegetable in his house suits him and his family.. look how suman is turning out...

Uma is blinded with theoretical knowledge for sure... but not manipulative... if you hear his words clearly, Payal could have easily refused the alliance... she could have taken a stand that when her husband is back she'll come to her house. It could have been a well posed deal...

The thing is Uma is not different. He's the same.. he appears to be complex but for himself he is just black and white.. And trust me it is easier to understand grey but black and white is impossible for new age ppl to understand. Similarly Uma won't understand grey or let's say colours. For him it's pretty much sorted this is right that is wrong... Enough is enough.. what is done is done... Topic over...

He faces different ppl... Many accepted his views and crowned him on a pedestal...but few are against him... Payal's family got carried away... as an audience we might feel he manipulated them but if you look through Uma's perspective he has simply told what is right and what is wrong in his terms... I recall his words when Kanak had gone to him for treatment. She had argued on gender equality, he only said one thing, "baki kehte hai vo unka apna dharma hai. Par main apne niyam nahi todta"!!!

Uma is flexible in that aspect if ppl don't belong to his circle or are not directly related to him or his family . But he makes a point that ppl within his boundary practice what he preaches. Same thing with Payal. Payal belonged to his family. Her parents were his relatives.. And Tadaaa!!!!! It is announcement time... live as a married woman or a widow but now you are bounded...

And it was important for Payal and Kanak to land in the crazy household. Cz change comes from within... Change happens when the rebels are from the inner circle... cz only those who are inside know the positives and negatives. It's easier to make them weaker and see a different side... on the contrary outer rebellion only causes bloodshed, violence and rage but no change of mindsets whereas when it's from the inner circle changing mentality is easy...
