Amarendra never blamed his wife because he was clear in his mind as to what he was standing up for...He wasn't merely standing up for his wife, but for what he thinks as the truth...If his wife was wrong, he wouldn't have even blinked to stand against her regardless of any promises made...

And Devasena isn't the reason he didn't become a king...She did act as a prop, but his fierce support for the truth and the belief that protecting the truth and standing up for it is his ultimate duty, is what made him easily give up being the king!

And he didn't have any lust for power or the throne. Dharma was much more important to him.

Also, he never resorted to evil machinations. He didn't have them in his mind either. That's what Bijjala Deva mentioned in a moment of truth - Baahubali kapat nahi janta hai ...

Devasena was his ideal foil - she didn't give weightage to the position of Amarendra even when he was hiding his entity, thiugh she was curious. And after they were together, she supported him through thick and thin. She was a Princess, but she didn't hesitate to live the life of a commoner to support his fight for justice and dharma.

That's why they were unique together.

And that's where Sivagami lamented when she touched Devasena's feet after Amar's death.

Agree with you there, he is guided by his dharma, about what is right and what is wrong.

He was right to bemoan about his Mother because she was in the eye of the storm that was going to break through. But, his wife and child wouldn't be safe either, even if they were still staying with the villagers. If a raaj-agya could kill him, it could well extend to his wife and child.

Yes, he could not have done anything about it anymore. I don't have any grievance there. Yes, he knew DevSena was fully capable of taking care of herself and their child, but again, he knew she was being persecuted at some level because of their being together.

Their child ... their love ... I would have personally loved to see a glimpse of that concern.

That's true...their child...but there is only so much he could convey when he was practically in the last breathe of his life...His mom, wife and then the child - for him, the man of truth and dharma!

That's true. That immense love and respect for his Mother just shone through, though I was so dam* sad

Heres my review of Bahubali 2 ..If u hv not seen it and planning to watch anytime soon , then plss dont read it as it contains the main spoilers of the movie ..(I think first time I m writing a review here for a Non Aamir film 😆)

I dont think my review can do any justice to this magnificent product that I just watched yesterday and something I might not watch ever in my lifetime again ..it was that grand and beautiful ..It was just not the VFX or the grand scale that made me a BB2 fan but its the overall experience of watching this beautiful movie in terms of characters, story telling , and the finer detailing of every single scene ..It was almost like a poetry in motion..Every scene looked like a painting including the song picturisation.. Also it was just not another war film..It was also a epic love tale of Bahubali and Devasena , an emotional turbulent relation between Mother Sivagami and her two sons Bahubali and Bhalla , a heartwrenching bond between Katappa and Amarendra Bahubali and lastly an epic fight for the prestige and honour of Mahismati kingdom .. Bahubali has managed to create some of the unforgettable characters for me ..Characters which will remain with me forever even after few years .. Whether its the intensity and fire in Devasena's eyes fighting for her husband's rights or the dilemma of a mother torn between her biological son and brother in law's son or the never seen before loyalty and guilt of Katappa or the sheer display of enemity and jealousy by Bhalla or the Royalty , humanity, passion and courage shown by Amarendra Bahubali , every single characters will remain in your mind and heart forever .. Hats off to the writer for creating such epic characters that are hard to forget in the years to come ..

For me what made Bahubali special were these 6 different types of relationships portrayed in the movie as mentioned below which will remain in my memory forever ..

1) Divine relation between a husband and wife..True Soulmates..Devasena and Amarendra Bahubali r husband-wife goals for sure .. The day Amarendra falls in love with Devsena , he decides to always treat her as his equal and it was symbolically depicted in the scene when Devasena walks towards the ship by stepping on Amarendra's arms ..What a beautiful moment as it symbolically depicts how a king will always bow down to his queen and will forever keep her above him ..Sheer respect .. His mother actually asked him to bring her like a prisoner for refusing the marriage proposal of Bhalla but instead Amarendra brings her to his kingdom like a queen ..Beautiful irony .. He always made sure to stand up for his wife even if it means going against his own mother as its his mother who taught him to always follow the right path even if it means u r forced to go against your own people .. Devasena might hv a bit too rude tone while talking to Sivagami but what I liked here is she was not ready to bow down to unfair demands just because Sivagami was her mother in law .. she had the courage to stand up for herself and her rights without really expecting her husband to always protect her and this is what impressed Amarendra and he went out of his way to protect her against his own people which unfortunately did become his downfall in the end but he never really regret any of his decisions and even died like a proud king .. As a husband , Amarendra never questioned Devasena but always kept his trust on her and supported her even when she was chained for cutting that new senapati's finger ..Can I call it a blind trust ? mayb yes but its because he looked into Devasena's eyes which did all the talking and he knows your eyes cannot lie ..He always knew his wife is a brave warrior who believes in truth and honesty and so he too believed in her truth , reason why he cuts off that guy's head after hearing the truth from his wife and tells everyone that Devasena did wrong by just cutting off his finger , his real punishment is chopping off his head and without wasting any time he does it , thus restoring his wife's dignity in front of the court wowww...he dint regret his decision one min ..he proudly takes the punishment and walks off with his wife ..this is where I loved their relation so much ..it was just not about physical romance only ..their chemistry shined through such strong moments when they showed immense support for each other whether its Devasena directly challenging her mother in law on her god bharai day about how her husband should hv been the king and not Bhalla or whether Amarendra standing like a strong pillar in front of his wife and telling everyone that touching my wife will mean touching Bahubali's sword , so dont anyone dare ..These r the scenes where their chemistry shined ..And not to forget that beautiful song picturisation on mayur pankh , so beautiful and aesthetic .. Prabhas and Anoushka displayed mind blowing chemistry in the song .. They both will put even AamirJuhi or SRKKajol to shame with their beautiful depictions of romance in this song .. Also their whole falling in love phase during the teerandaazi fight sequence was so unique and excellently shot .. the way Amarendra teaches her how to hit 3 arrows at a time towards your target and the way she was following his instruction , the chemistry and the artistic way of shooting the entire sequence was simply out of the world..Prabhas-Anoushka take a bow .. Noone can portray Amarendra-Devasena like the way u guys did ..

2)Turbulent yet emotional bonding between a mother Sivagami and his two sons Bhalla and Bahubali .. On one hand Sivagami's own biological son kept playing mind games with his mother thus manipulating her and she actually got manipulated out of the guilt of not declaring him the king and on other hand Amarendra Bahubali always kept his mother ahead of his own life even if it means hurting himself by protecting his mother from a scorpion's byte(shown in bahubali1) despite not his biological son ..Even Sivagami knew that Bahubali loved her more as a son than Bhalla and mayb thats why she felt hurt as a mother when he took his wife's side and declared her right over his mother .. Little did Sivagami knew that Bahubali still loves his mother more than anyone else and was only following what she always taught him , to stand for right .. Even before dieing , all he told Katappa was to take care of his mother even though his wife that time was on the verge of delivery but before dieing he only remembered his mother , goes onto show the deep bond and affection he had for his mother , only if his mother could realise it earlier ..sighh ..Amarendra knew that his mother is being manipulated and might b killed too after his death , no wonder he asked Katappa to take care of his mother after his death .. Sad irony is once Amarendra gave his own blood to protect his mother from scorpion byte and today his mother's hand is completely red with his son's blood that once saved her .. No wonder Sivagami gives away her own life to protect Amarendra's son as part of her redepmtion after she realises her mistake .. Her ego and extreme hate towards Devasena resulted in that unfortunate clash with her honest son which she later realised and thats why touched Devasena's feet before leaving with the baby .. Another beautiful moment of Sivagami's realisation after Katappa opens her eyes .. Every moment u could feel for these characters , u could connect with them and while watching u wont even realise how they hv actually become a part of your life and u feel as if u r part of Mahishmati kingdom too .. Sivagami was guilty of the fact that she could not keep her promise to her biological son bhalla and the main reason was Devasena's rejection , thats where she could not digest the fact that Amarendra married the same devasena going against his mother's wish even though she gave him the kingdom..But when she actually realised that Amarendra was always right with his decision making , it was too late and this whole dillemma and realisation phase of Sivagami was excellently portrayed by Ramya .. I just cannot imagine anyone else portraying Sivgami with that same dignity and pride like the way Ramya did ..

3)Heartwrenching bond between Mama Katappa and Bhanja Amarendra bahubali..Well not really his Mama in relation , but Amarendra always considered him as his own , so when Katappa actually kills Bahubali , its heartwrenching and the best part is u cannot still hate Katappa for what he did .. Your heart cries out for both Mama and Bhanja and all u feel while watching the scene is "Why this has to happen" :( Part 1 showed Amarendra's childhood bonding with Katappa and part 2 further solicidated their bonding in the starting scenes when both go to Devasena's kingdoom in disguise .. During every fight , whenever Katappa was attacked , Amarendra was there to protect him , but in the end when Amarendra was attacked , same Katappa stabs him from back .. sighh ..Bhalla actually never thought Katappa will keep his loyalty intact and so he had sent his own men to kill Bahubali and Katappa both ..Katappa tried his best to tell Amarendra plss dont save me , just go from here because Katappa knew that the moment Amarendra frees me from these chains , I will hv to do my duty of killing Bahubali which he wanted to avoid but Amarendra is Amarendra ..how can he leave his Mama like that ..He went out of his way protecting him but in return got backstabbing .. This moment will definitely leave u in tears .. its a heartwrenching scene and the way Amarendra bahubali dies sitting like a king and Katappa bows down in front of the king , its a scene to remember for ages especially the way its picturised in dark and fire in the background ..it was almost end of an era and so symbolically they showed the five elements during his death ..Since then Katappa lived in guilt and he came out of his guilt the day Mahendra Bahubali was found alive to takeover his father's legacy .. Satyaraj as Katappa was exceptional ..What performance .. though u know Katappa killed bahubali but u just cannot hate this man once u see the move and understand the reason and helplessness behind it ..

4) A fierce rivalry between Saas Sivagami and Bahu Devasena : Well this is not the typical kitchen politics rivalry of any Ekta soap .. This is something never seen before .. A rivalry of two women who think they r no less than each other and to give respect u need to earn respect irrespective of your age and stature ..Sivagami wanted to dominate as the mother in law but Devasena was not someone who will simply bow down to Sivagami just because she is Bahubali's mother .. She always stood up for her rights and prestige ..Mayb a bit too rude at times but thats Devasena for u .. She believed her mother in law never really earned that respect which she needs to give her otherwise ...And the day Sivagami did earn that respect of her bahu , Amarendra bahubali was not alive to witness it .. sad irony again ..sighh .. Sivagami hated her for refusing Bhalla's proposal but she started almost despising Devasena the day she felt Devasena snatched away her son Bahubali too from her which was not really the case but it was a clash between two strong and hot headed woman , so well both cannot really win..in this case both refused to accept defeat either .. Anoushka Shetty as the fiersome proud Devasena was a treat to watch as she matched up to Ramya (Sivagami) in terms of acting and screen presense ..

5) A not so much talked yet very interesting relation between a paralysed father and Son Bhalla : Not many really talk about this relation in the movie but I find this father-son duo the real masterminds of Bahubali 2 ..they actually reminded me of Duryodhan-Shakuni jodi , only difference is here the son is more smarter than the Shakuni father ..The way both manipulated Sivagami against Bahubali , your blood starts boiling in those scenes but not to forget a protagonist becomes a hero only when u hv equally strong antagonist and in this case father-son duo made the perfect antagonist of the movie .. The way they trapped Bahubali's friend Kumar and made Sivagami believe that Bahubali had sent Kumar to kill Bhalla , it was a nerve chilling moment as this is what leads to the much awaited Katappa killing Bahubali .. Rana Dagupati as Bhalla was fantastic in his menacing avatar ..Will never forget his wicked smile and smirk .. Even the father shined in his role of a frustrated man who could never get the throne due to his physical disability , at least thats what he believed till Katappa gives him a reality chk about his brain whiich is main reason of his defeat ..

6) An epic relation of enemity between two brothers Amarendra Bahubali and Bhalladeva : Aahhh these two reminded me of Moases and Ramases from the Hollywood movie Ten Commandments .. What display of epic rivalry by Rana Dagupati as Bhalla and Prabhas as Bahubali .. Fantastic performance by both .. Their climax fight was worth all the claps and whistles ..it was like clash of the titans .. Bahubali was a fierce and intelligent warrior but Bhalla in terms of strength was no less .. When they come together on screen , u can feel the tension .. Bhalla's corronation ceremony was by far the best scene I hv ever witnessed on Cinema ..with cinema I mean world cinema .. Woww that was grand .. I never saw this coming ..I always thought Bahubali would b the king but instead Sivagami actually changed her decision after Devasena fiasco and so Bhalla actually became the king ..he dint really snatched the throne from Bahubali but actually earned it , mayb earned it by unfair means but then everything is fair in love and war isn't it ..In a way Bhalla was equally intelligent like Bahubali and played the politics well , only if he used his brain in a positive way then u never know , mayb he would hv made a better king than Bahubali but his insecurity and jealousy towards bahubali's success was his real downfall ..On the other side Bahubali was a very secure man and was equally happy with Bhalla being crowned as the king .. He always considered bhalla like his real brother and this humble nature of bahubali made him a people's king ..His sharp and intelligent war strategies and his humble nature made him a God like character in eyes of Mahishmati crowd .. Even during corronation ceremony , when bhalla was crowned the king , entire Mahishmati started protesting by stamping their feet on the ground including the animals , due to which the ground started trembling too ,almost like an earthquake and u could realise the extreme popularity of Bahubali here though Bahubali himself remained unaffected with all this but Bhalla could not enjoy his victory seeing this immense support and love of Bahubali .. The clash , the insecurity , the rivalry was beautifully depicted in these scenes .. and not to forget the finer detailing of scenes like the stones trembling when the grownd started shaking because of the protest ..such finer details ..woww .. Only if bhalla concentrated more on becoming a people's king than plotting bahubali's defeat , things would hv been different .. But this is what makes a grt storytelling when both protagonist and antagonist r such strong personalities beautifully protrayed by the actors ..

So for me these 6 relations portrayed in the Film made it an absolute epic watch ..A lot has been said about the outstanding VFX effects used in the movie and yes they were by far the best I hv seen in World cinema .. but just VFX effects dont make a good movie .. its the relationships , characters , emotions , story that makes a movie epic and for me bahubali worked because it has it all .. starting from outstanding camerawork to breath taking art direction to never seen before VFX effects to beautiful costumes to never forgetting strong characters to those 6 beautifully written relationships to some outstanding performance by the actors to wonderfully picturised songs to magnificent background score to wonderful direction and vision of the real star SS Rajamouli which made bahubali 2 an epic and unforgettable watch ..

Also there was no overdose of mindless VFX thrown in just to show technology .. what I loved was the intelligence with which the scenes were crafted along with the VFX effects .. the war strategies shown in the movie r never seen before in world cinema ..trust me on that .. Did u ever see 100s of running cows with their burning horns used smartly during a war sequence ? ..Did u ever see the outstanding use of palm trees to enter an enemy's den when the main gate is closed ? Did u ever see an artistic display of teerandaazi during a fight sequence ? If not then Watch bahubali 2 now 😛 The inteligence with which Amarendra and later Mahendra Bahubali strategises the war sequences , it was spellbounding and unbelievably outstanding ..

Also the movie gives beautiful msg of humanity and how one should fight their fears to become a brave warrior ..The way Bahubali turns a coward Kumar into a brave warrior is a big example of the director's vision to show what really makes someone a brave warrior .. Its just not physical strength but mental application too ..Kumar was competing for Devasena's affection and wanted to marry her , so if Bahubali wanted he could hv made fun of Kumar and put him down just because he was a competition to winning Devasena's heart but instead same Kumar becomes Bahubali's loyalist ..Why ? Because Bahubali never really sees him like a competition .. He always treated people with equality and love .. thats why he was a people's king and got so much love from all .. Prabhas simply nailed Bahubali and no actor could perform it better than Prabhas ..this is first time I m watching Prabhas and I hv become his fan .. normally the actors I like , I adopt them as my betas 😆: but in case of Prabhas , I will give him the same place in my heart that I hv given to Aamir ☺️ .. yes yes he was that outstanding for me .. and his chemistry with Anoushka shetty was something to die for .. They make a fabulous couple ..

What I loved about Prabhas was how differently he played Amarendra and Mahendra in terms of overall body language .. Amarendra was royal , a strategist , super sharm intelligent and a born king in true sense . But Mahendra was more rustic , raw and a learner when it comes to those skillful war strategies something at which his father was a pro ...I could easily differentiate between both characters even though its the same actor who played both .. thats where Prabhas shined as an actor 👏

Overall everyone should Watch bahubali 2 👏 .. this is the only Indian cinema which has universal appeal and whether u r from east west north or south , BB2 is not to b missed ..its an experience one should cherish in a cinema hall ..so plss plss watch it on big screen ..my rating is 5 on 5 for the movie..its flawless

@jyoti06,

What a wonderfully fantastic analysis! 👏 I agree word for word with everything you wrote. The reason this movie became such a big hit is that it really explored the finer nuances of every relationship, and that is something rarely seen in Indian movies.

Saw this last night and it was good. Not 100 crore good but still good. Some VFX were great while others were amateurish. The series reminds me of a mixture of 300 and various Japanese/Chinese movies.

Although the only thing i wish in this whole entire world is that desi people take a shower before coming to the movies. The guy next to me STANK and my nostrils were burnt out by the end of the movie. 🤢
