even in this modern world ppl do believe in god...Of course ,,that is not a bad news...It is gud to hear that most of the ppl head towards spirituality... my question is not whether god exists or not..coz i do believe in god...but let me clarify something...yeah i believe in god...but i don't believe in religion...got it?????
Let me come to my point...it is a pure BELIEF that god exists or atleast there is some power that controls us...our feelings.etc...but wat does religion have to do with that...I mean if am a hindhu why shud I only pray to shiva, lord krishna, ganapathi, etc?????????why shudnt I worship jesus or allah?????...why shud i only go to temples and not to churches mosques etc..????????I believe that we all know why we go to such places of worships...to attain peace...talk to god about our problems ...stay calm ,quiet ...relieve all the tensions..etc...so if i ,,being a hindu goes to a church and pray to jesus then will jesus think that ..:"oh she is not a christian...then why shud I hear her troubles.."?...Is it so??????...i dont think so...!!!!!!.well wat do u guys think..????????...is religion a necessary criteria for worshipping god..afterall GOD IS ONE...!!!!!!!!!

For years, the percentage of people who do not identify with any religion has been rising, in America and Europe.

One can believe in god without believing in religion but it's human nature to want to belong to a group...
Belongingness is emotional need, to belong to part of something greater than themselves like family, religion etc

Is religion the only way to attain spirituality - that depends on your definition of spirituality.

IMO, spirituality cannot be attained, it can only be realised and I feel it is a journey, a life long journey. But like Betty said, it ultimately depends on what you view spirituality as and how your perception of it changes as life happens i.e., with time.

If you don't want to subscribe to any religion or want to 'believe' in something/religion, then it is absolutely your right. If you are an Indian citizen, then constitution also guarantees the right to freedom of a citizen to his own conscience. (art 25)

Religion is not necessary for worshipping God, but again, that would depend on what is God to you and what is worship to you.
One may believe in God, but may not worship or have a different antithetical way of woshipping :)

Worship, God, Prayer, Religion, Spirituality are all blurry subjects.. they aren't bound by rules or norms of what belief or the perception of those subjects should be like, they are not the same for everyone even if they follow same religion/God... because such things are deep, the feelings we associate with these come from a deep place that it is hard to make any rules or 'standards' out of these.. (note that I am not speaking of following ritual/rites). And each person is different, the way he views life is different - so is his view of God/spirituality/worship/prayer/etc

In conclusion, be free to believe or follow whatever you want :)

If you think God is one, then, it is your belief, may not be same for everyone.

Apart from religion there are many other ways of developing spiritually, such as leading an exemplary life , social service, charity, studies , enquiry etc.

Frankly its quite true, except that we may suffer a hangover !
After a couple of glasses of wine, it tends to taste quite horrible to me. Same for beer too. The first and second glass taste great.

Some Saivite followers take Bhang or other drugs to reach higher levels of consciousness ... and end up being a drug addict too. Not sure if it works but they soon meet their Creator ! 😆

That's funny! 😃

Wine, beer etc are not spirits as they're fermented but not distilled, they've relatively low alcohol content

So they don't help you to attain spirituality, only hangover as you mentioned 😊

(Spirit is strong distilled beverage or liquor such as brandy, whiskey and others mentioned in the posts
above, they contain more alcohol, hence the name hard liquor)
