Right from the beginning of the show Sada Kaur is shown to despise Maha Singh and his family then how did she agree for Ranjit and Mehtab's marriage. Is it a political alliance???Also I read somewhere that after Mahaa singh and Raj Kaur its Sada kaur who took care of Ranjit singh and helped him in political matters.I also read that Ranjit and Mehtab's marriage failed..I assume that Sadakaur too care of Ranjit and his kingdom as he's her son-in-law.What makes me wonder is how such a beautiful friendship between Ranjit and Mehtab ended up on a bitter note😲
Any history buffs who can throw some light on this

Turns out gurawaksh (mehtaab's father) was murdered by mahaan singh (ranjit's father), and she was never able to forgive ranjit singh for it, so she separated from him, a separation that was solidified when he remarried for the second time. I'm not indian, i'm british, so i'm not too aware if this is true, as I don't have a lot of knowledge on indian history, but i am a big history buff, so this is everything I have found from my research online.

Let's not forget that the makers will use 'cinematic license' on the show, it won't ever be 100% accurate to what really happened. That's because there is bound to be blank pages in Ranjit Singh's history where no one really knows what happened so they have to make things up and other times it will be to spice up the story. I don't see Sada Kaur ever doing anything noble towards RS. The moment to turn her positive would have been after Gurbaksh threatened to leave her, both MS and RK stood up for her even though they just found how much she hates them. No I see her being negative to the end. If Mehtaab and Ranjit have differences you can be sure Sada Kaur will add fire to the fuel.

Gurbaksh Singh (Mehtab's father)died fighting in the Battle of Batala against the sukerchakia Misl (Mahan Singh 's Kingdom)the Ramgarhia Misl as well as the Sansar Chand Katoch. In 1785, Sada Kaur, along with Jai Singh Kanhaiya(Mehtab's grandfather), then betrothed her daughter to Ranjit Singh, the Sukerchakia Misl's chief's son, and they were married in 1786.In 1789, her father-in-law, Jai Singh Kanheya, also died.Sada Kaur then assumed the leadership of the Kanhaiya Misl(Ranjit's kingdom) as well as the loyalty of its 8,000 Cavalrymen After the death of his father, Mahan Singh In 1792. Ranjit Singh was made the chief of the Sukerchakia Misl and Sada Kaur became his regent. Sada Kaur used both Kanheya and Sukerchakia misals to push Ranjit forward.

The people of Lahore who were tired of the rule of Bhangi Misl requested Sada Kaur and Ranjit Singh to take over Lahore. Sada Kaur advised Ranjit that whoever controls Lahore controls Punjab. On 7 July 1799 Ranjit Singh and Sada Kaur attacked Lahore with 25,000 troops. The people of Lahore opened the city gates for them. Ranjit entered the city through Lohari gate and Sada Kaur entered through Delhi gate. Sada Kaur ( Mehtab's mother )made Ranjit Singh the king of Lahore in 1801.

In the battles for Amritsar,Chiniot,Kasur, Attock ,Hazara.Mehtab's mother was with Ranjit Singh and fought with him and supported him.

Maha Singh was the Son of Charhat Singh and Mai Desan of the Sukkarchakkia Misl

Maha Singh's father Charhat Singh, the Sardar of the Sukkarchakkia misl died when he was quite young. During this time, his mother Mai Desan was the one who carried out all the administrative works with the assistance of her brothers.

At a Young Age He Fought Against the Durrani Empire

After he embraced his responsibilities at a very young age, Mahan Singh concentrated on saving his misl's pride and honour. He then took over the fort of Rohtas back from Nur ud-Din Bamezai, a general of Ahmad Shah Durrani the first emperor of the last Afghan empire.

He Defeated Pir Muhammad With The Help of Kanhaiya Misl( Mehtab's Kingdom)

The Afghan chieftain Pir Muhammad created lot of problems for Mahan Singh but he was successful in defeating him with the help of Jai Singh Kanhaiya(grand father of Mehtab), the chief of Kanhaiya misl and his son Gurubaksh (father of Mehtab). He occupied Rasulnagar in this campaign and renamed it as Ramnagar.

Mahan Singh Captured Several Areas

Post the birth of his son Ranjit Singh, he continued his campaign of conquering places. He then took over Pindi Bhattian,Isa Khel, Sahival and Jhang. Next, he seized Kotli Loharan which was near Sialkot.

He Fought With Kanhaiya misl in a Battle Which Killed Gurubaksh Singh Jai Singh's Only Son

In 1782, Mahan Singh got involved in the affairs of the province of Jammu. He took advantage of the feud between the brothers of Jammu and collected a huge booty by plundering in the town. Next, he refused to share this booty with the Kanhaiyas(Mehtab's Kingdom)his partners.

This give rise to a feud between Kanhaiyas(Mehtab's Kingdom) and him. He then got Jassa Singh Ramgarhia (friend turned foe of Kanhaiya (Mehtab's Kingdom) to his side. Both of them challenged the Kanhaiyas near Batala and a battle followed in 1784. In this battle Gurbakhsh Singh the only son of Jai Singh Kanhaiya was killed at the age of 25.

Mahan Singh Also Conquested against His Brother-in-law Sahib Singh Bhangi (gulab Singh's father)of the Bhangi misl.

After defeating Kanhaiya misl(Mehtab's Kingdom), his next target was the Bhangi misl(gulab Singh's Kingdom). After the death of Gujjar Singh Bhangi, Maha Singh had differences with his son and also his brother-in-law, Sahib Singh Bhangi. However, Sahib Singh could cover himself up in the Sodhra fort which was invested by Mahan Singh.

Mahan Singh Died in April 1790 when Ranjit Singh was only 10

During this siege of Sodhra, Maha Singh fell ill due to dysentery, so much that he was forced to retire. He died in April 1790 when his son and successor Ranjit Singh was only 10. He was the Sardar of the Sukkarchakkia Misl from 1770 to 1790.

Mehtab's father and grandfather helped Ranjit's father in defeating Pir Muhammed (Ghulam Muhammed's father). Cause Mehtab's Kingdom was very powerful rich Kingdom. But it was Mahan Singh who was responsible for feud between the 2 Kingdom.
