This interview of Jennifer comes as a relief for Maya lovers who always wish for Maya to atone for her misdeeds and follow the redemption process.
Maya is blasted by so many for supposedly killing Ashwin, the priest in Mauritius and throwing Jhanvi out of the window. So many assumptions and judgements are made about her. Ok Ashwin was killed and Jhanvi was thrown out but the priest? It has never been shown how he passed away.

Maya will surely heal and find happiness in the end.

@Kavsy. My replies to your statement in red
'Maya knows that if she talks to Arjun about it, what he will say.' Isn't Maya just assuming that? You guys had a problem when Vandana assumed that Maya is evil without even giving a chance to Maya. But when Maya does the same to Arjun it is justified.

'Even Arjun never made a point to tell Maya about his likes & dislikes but he started bitching about Maya to Saanjh. Is that normal? If Arjun behaved sensibly & responsibly, she would have trusted him. But, no one has been sensitive towards her or made any efforts to heal her.'
I have time and again said that Arjun, Saanjh and Vandana have all behaved wrongly in certain situations. And they are responsible for their actions. In the same way Maya should be responsible for her actions. You cannot say that everyone provoked her to do those things. If that is the case then even in Vandana's case, Maya's past provoked Vandana to be hostile to Maya.

Anyway let us just agree to disagree.. we are just going around in circles with our points

She has seen him being rude to Saanjh. She knows that he has got temper issues. So she is insecure.

Of course, Maya is responsible for her actions. when did I deny that? she has to pay for her wrong actions. I am only against blaming only one person for every bad thing when all others are wrong & have contributed to the climax.

I have answered in blue.

I loved the interview. 😳 She's so cool ! When only she says Maya is not negative and calling her negative is not justified my hopes are risen... & see chances of her redemption!
I hope she does not mislead us or else I will never believe anything she says anymore.

Waise, can anyone clarify what is the difference between negative and having shades of grey.. someone who is passionate about her career and love and can go to any extent to achieve it.. is Maya! So basically does going to any extent means only manipulating and controlling people and not killing them? Does Jen mean this when she says it's not right to call her character negative?! I guess that's what she means.
Cuz if you kill for your passion then obviously you are negative and not a person with just grey shades ! I believe most of us have grey shades in us... we are not all white. ..we have dark traits like selfishness, greed jealousy insecurity etc.. but when we allow these traits to control us and can go to any limit to achieve our target by hook or by crook then don't we become negative?
So going by Jens interview can I conclude.. even though the murders point at Maya I would like to believe she has not committed them... cuz how can we justify murder? Only Ashwin's murder maybe cuz he had abused her both physically and mentally... but that Mauritius pandit just cuz he made a Faltu assumption and that idiot Vikram just cuz he took panga with Arjun... their murders have no justification!

Everytime Jenny says her character is not negative I get confused and happy at the same time 😆 For now let me believe once more that she has not committed the murders and if they show later she did I would tweet her for sure how she justified murders of that pandit and Vikram? 😆

This has become her standard reply to anything concerning Maya at all. There's no way can one justify sending an innocent guy to jail under the pretext of a rape accusation. Even killing Aswin is more tolerable under the circumstances she was placed at to some extent. So I vehemently disagree with whatever Jen says about Maya. I feel the makers don't want her to reveal the plot yet which is why she's talking in riddles and seemingly supporting her overall characterization.

Hey,

i read jennifers latest article and this is what she said regarding her show Beyhadh:

I am currently enjoying playing the unpredictable role of a no-nonsense boss lady Maya Mehrotra on Sony's prime time show Beyhadh. She us one of the most challenging characters scripted in the history of television that audiences have still grown to side and love. A lot has gone down as homework and research for this character and there is a fair bit of learning and unlearning that happens on the set everyday. Beyhadh with its strong script was hard to turn down and plus I was due for a shake up. Not all risks are bad for us and I'm glad I took this one. However, I don't think calling her character negative is really doing it justice. She has her shades of grey as an obsessive lover with an undying passion for everything in life; be it her career or love.
It's been a rollercoaster ride of emotions since day one. With Maya, you can never know what to expect. She isn't predictable and that's also what draws you to her. I make it a point to get to the sets every day with a clear head, but come back home all heavy and intense on some days.
It's a constant process of learning and unlearning with this character, and to have that at this point in my career is an absolutely enriching experience.

The part in Bold is what stands out, she pointed out calling maya negative is not doing it justice, Jen did admit Maya is grey but she has said many times and even in this article her character is not negative.

if her character was negative then i personally feel Maya is capable of killing. Also Beyhadh is a finite series so jennifer is aware of how the story will end and what maya is capable of doing, so i put my trust in jennifer in what she says regarding her character.

Yes i agree Jen can be biased as she is playing the role of Maya, but i agree maya is grey but not negative. cv's want to indoctrinate viewers that maya is bad and evil, and yes she has her flaws but lets see how the shows proceeds.

So what is your take on this article?

This is not the first time JW said about her character not to be tagged as 'Negative'!
She said it as early as December 22, 2016 (in fact, second week of December 2016 when Asajad Nazir tweeted: Big Jennifer Winget cover interview on the way soon. Big thanks @JenWingetTeam for helping to get organised. #JenniferWinget #Beyhadh dated 12th Dec 2016)

The detais of IV were published online on Dec 22, 2016, and it can be seen in this link : https://www.easterneye.eu/jennifer-winget-maya-beyhadh-challenging-role-yet/

Some of the relevant part is given below:
...

Which of your many roles has given you the greatest satisfaction?

I could never pick between any characters as they've all been distinct and close to my heart at each of their points in time. I've immersed myself completely into understanding and living them out on the set every day I came to work. (Laughs) It has always been: See ya later, Jennifer Winget' the moment I set foot on set.

But thinking of it all now, I think my character Maya in Beyhadh has been the most challenging one to take on so far. But I have to admit I was a little skeptical playing a character with as many layers as Maya!

Why is that?

I work hard to challenge myself and I was due for a shake up. Not all risks are bad for us and I'm glad I took this one. However, I don't think calling her character negative is really doing it justice.

Maya has her shades of grey as an obsessive lover with an undying passion for everything in life; be it her career or love. We do our fair share of homework researching looks for each of the characters we portray.

With Maya, there's learning and unfolding a new side of her every day. The show's been on air for two months now and the excitement hasn't mellowed a bit. That definitely has got to count for something!

What attracted you to Beyhadh?

(Smiles) Have you been introduced to Maya yet? How could anyone turn that role down? I was really gripped by her strong character and the script. Being part of Beyhadh is surreal for me and it's still kind of sinking in. The response has been phenomenal and continues to edge on positively, which is so encouraging for not just me but the whole cast

and crew. So yeah, it's overwhelming! What has the experience of shooting Beyhadh been like?

It's been a rollercoaster ride of emotions since day one. With Maya, you can never know what to expect. She isn't predictable and that's also what draws you to her. I make it a point to get to the sets every day with a clear head, but come back home all heavy and intense on some days.

It's a constant process of learning and unlearning with this character, and to have that at this point in my career is an absolutely enriching experience.

Very Close reading of two IVs will tell you one more interesting fact!
That is, quite a few of words are identical in verbatim! (compare highlighted portions in both IVs!)
So, does the latest article just quote from original one which was published in December 22, 2016, by eastern Eye? It is not very clear!
Interestingly, the latest article the house of TMM Cover Story does not carry any interviewer name!

So, the short point is nothing new here, as this information is out in the public domain much before Mauritius trip!

In response to those wanting to know what a grey character means:

"The reason, it follows, that morally relativistic characters are popular, is that we are a morally gray audience living in morally relativistic times. Other than on children's TV, a beacon of morality can never be the lead character on a show anymore. Whether this is good or bad is up to history to decide, but what's clear is that nothing's clear any more. TV has grown up, and doesn't see morality as black and white anymore. All we have left is many shades of gray."

Source: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/screencraft/why-are-morally-gray-char_b_11203194.html

No matter what anyone says, Maya (or any of the other characters in Beyhadh for that matter) is a grey character, albeit a darker shade of grey, but still a grey one.
