being somewhat past the gen that came up with the word swag, i didn't quite get the sense of it for a while... yeah, it was cool and sexy and smart, and hep and... but no my grasp of the word was definitely wanting. then this man walked around a piece of furniture and it was like a "pyaar mein dil pe maar de goli" moment, hit the mark. "swag" said my mind. my heart sighed and said, "yes, swag."

a little communication...

... has got going. from the producer to us, the incorrigibly smitten fans. i have no idea who this young man might be. though yes, would be nice if he shaved his beard. gul khan posted this classic loud promo style seconds-long video on instagram yesterday, 13 march, holi. before that came "asr" hurled at us in pink on yellow.

naturally, one is no longer quite "theek". but i feel almost robbed, somewhat sad. because there is really only one asr. and he doesn't need to jump and pose to get my attention.

whoever you are advay, and whatever your story... i wait. because well, how can you not when it's asr.

okay, as far as i am concerned, please don't award him that jeeja ji title. a certain cretin named after nand kissore has tainted those words forever for me and i thank writers and payal deeply for never calling the rakshas, jeeja ji.

i still giggle idiotically when i think of the goings on of these episodes. and there is a man in them who rivals asr's hold on my imagination. the ankh micholi player o o om prakash ji. khushi's frantic efforts to keep the laad giov in the dark about the brats running about his home, her flawless craziness and panic, don't tell me i'll never see such sanka again.

ipk had a zany, almost unrehearsed sense of fun. an uninhibited outburst of laughter. and writers and actors who got it so right. there was also, i felt, a neat blend of western and typically indian humour getting comfortable with each other, reflecting the current mind state of many urban indians, whether they live in india or elsewhere. at the same time, if you were not from the city even, you'd respond to sanaya's naturally weird khushi with her tenderness and earnestness and pluck. of course, asr's magnetism which cuts across language and many other barriers (currently indonesian girls are in a state apparently over this sutied booted khadoos rakshas) is bound to get you. and i am sure no one, no one, can resist the charm of my sweet op.

the mystery of the disappearing pictures

a curious thing has happened. almost all the pictures have disappeared from the blog. not all maybe, but a substantial number of them. i am fixing the problem, steadily, even if slowly... and therefore, i get to see shots from ipk again, mull over them, peer, check, make sure... it's like watching the show once more. khushi, asr, hamesha, faraq, today it was you don't have a character and talk to me and that fight on the bridge, that mit nahin sakta.

i wondered as i watched, my concentration 110%, is this some sort of trick? did ipk want me to watch it again, is that why the edits started to disappear surreptitiously? did ipk want me to get myself in a mess (of the most dammit and haivan pareshan kind) all over again?

okay, it was a technical hitch that did it, if i am to speak rationally. but this is ipk, where's the space or time to be in that mundane plane. rational? what rubbish.

a moment from that first phase of an unforgettable fight. a man in anguish, a man still angry, just after accusing his wife, his faraq, of infidelity. gosh, this is chhap gaya hai really.
