Part 48
Khurana Mansion was alive after a long time. It seemed as if the missing peace and happiness was back with Geet's arrival. Breakfast was in full swing accompanied by the constant chatter of the people occupying it. Happiness was felt in every face including the ones in discussion. Geet was sitting next to Maan smiling at the comments passed by Vicky and Karan while Maan kept shooting glares at them for making them the target. He told getting irritated, "Vicky, tum bhool rahe ho ki tumhari shaadi ko abhi sirf ek mahina bakki he. Tab dekhenge." Vicky told smirking, "Bhai mein usika intezzar kar raha hoon." Karan laughed and told, "Maan, only reverse psychology works on Vicky." Maan had a devilish smile listening to this and Vicky immediately stopped teasing them. Everyone laughed seeing Vicky's expressions. Maan looked at Geet and saw her laughing whole heartedly for the first time since she was back. He knew that he has a long way to go for bringing the old bubbly Geet back, but even though smaller, her laugh felt like a small step towards it. He was her relief for every pain she went through. He was the cure for every wound she suffered. Only he could get her back from the darkness that engulfed her. And he was determined to do so. Geet's mukh dikhayi was arranged on the same day and after that she was to leave to HM next day for Pag phere. The day's rituals went fast and all guests were impressed seeing Geet looking divine in a pink lehenga. Karan continued teasing Maan whose eyes never left her. While she slept in his arms later that day he knew that no matter whatever happened in the past, nothing can keep them apart now. He had a surprise planned for Geet after pagphere, a step to bring back the happiness.
Geet's mind was constantly in a tug of war. She wanted to let go and enjoy the happiness that surrounded her. But with the thought of the pain that always followed the happiness, she couldn't fully let herself into it. Still a part of her was wavering that always longed for a family, their love. The love that was getting showered on her by everyone and the constant presence of her love, her Maan beside her was wavering her resolve. He didn't express it in words but his actions spoke louder for him. He wanted to assure her with every single act on how much he loved her and would do anything for her. If her willpower was weakened she couldn't imagine how she would handle her greatest pain, the loss of their baby. She can't let him know about it. He was incapable of bearing such pain. He would never forgive himself if he comes to know. She must keep herself on guard. While sleeping in his arms, she couldn't help but think of how peaceful she felt there.
Next day Geet left after breakfast with Arjun and Annie to HM. Maan got busy with the preparations for the surprise he has planned for Geet. He got Geet's dresses ready for the trip with the help of Naintara who was happy to assist him and Nakul. When they were done, Maan thanked Naintara who had changed a lot since her accident. She told, "Maan veerji, yeh tho meri khush naseebi he ki mein Geet keliye kuch kar pa rahi hoon. I don't even deserve to be in her vicinity after what I did to her. But she is too good that she has forgiven me for my crimes. I am happy that she got her happiness back with you. I know I don't need to tell you, but please keep her happy always, don't let any pain touch her. She has suffered far more than anyone could endure in a whole lifetime." Maan was touched by her concern and told, "Naintara, I understand your concern. Galtiynan tho sabse hotha he, mein bhi kuch kam nahi ki he. Par agar insaan use sudharne ki koshish kartha he tho mauka zaroor miltha he. Ho sakhtha he jo dard humne diya he, use hum kam kar sakhthe ho. We can only hope for it. I would never let any pain touch Geet as long as I am alive." Dev who had entered the room in search of Naintara witnessed the extent to which his wife has changed and the effect it had on his bro. He could have never imagined Maan asking help to Naintara for anything, leave asking for help, he wouldn't have even tolerated a talk with her two years back. But since her accident and her sincere efforts to forge good relations with everyone in the family, Maan had mellowed down and now no one could ever think that any animosity existed between the two. He was thankful for it, even though they had to pay a heavy price for it. Vicky's cheerful voice broke his trance. Vicky teased Maan, "Wah bro wah, aapne tho honeymoon ki saari tayariyan ki. How Romantic, hena bhabhi??? Maan Singh Khurana aur romantic, kaun socha tha." He stopped seeing Maan's face, ducked his head and ran shouting, "Bro, aapse mein do hafte baad milenge." Seeing Maan's irritated face, Dev laughed and told, "Sach mein bro, kaun socha tha.." Maan shot a glare while Dev raised his hands in peace and took a smiling Naintara out.
Maan went to get Geet from HM in the evening. The front door was open and the sound of laughter coming from inside made him pause. Arjun, Mohinder and Rahul were sitting in the living room with Annie and Sameera sitting in the carpet next to them and Geet lying down in Sameera's lap. Every face had a smile and he could see that Geet's face was serene, there was a calmness that was missing ever since she was back. He knew without a doubt that their togetherness was the key for her happiness and he would do anything to attain it.
