Happy Vishu!!! (Not sure if that's how you wish)
Today I will talk about time. Time can be defined by the moments that passed. It can be defined by the right here, right now i.e the present. And it can be defined by the moments that are yet to come.
In today's day and age, time is priceless. Because none of us has a lot of it to spare in our busy schedule.
However, Time is priceless for another reason. Because you can't earn it back once you spend it.
For example, Friday, April 14, 2017 will never return back. There will be other April 14th, and there certainly will be other Fridays - but not this Friday, this year, this April 14th.
There are people who live in the past - be it sufferings or the past glory. Ishwari is one of them and Dev is the other.
Then there are people who constantly plan for the future and never live in the present. They are the one who keep hanging on in a bad situation and continue to hope that one day, things will turn better. Elena is one of them and Sonakshi used to be one of them.
And then there are people who live in the present because they realize that there is no guarantee of time. They believe that we all get one shot at life. So it's up to us to decide whether we want to waste a large and important chunk of it in misery or make a better lives for ourselves? Well, there is no one in the show like that. But I am of this kind.
You see, the reason Time is so precious is because Life is so fragile and limited.
People who keep waiting for the good times to drop in their life, might have a lot of optimism, but what will they do if even after 10-20 years they don't get it? Where will they get those wasted years back? Because there is no worse feeling than regret.
Will any of us do a job where the employer promises that they may or may not pay us unless we at least get job satisfaction?
Then why would anyone be in an unhappy relationship that may or may not get fixed?
If the relationship can be fixed because BOTH people think that they are willing to do anything, make any sacrifices to make it work, then good for them.
However, relationship never work one sided. Because slipping moments and expensive time point out their worth very starkly sooner rather than later.
Then no matter how much you complaint, curse, beg and plead, the times that passed, will never come back.
Zindegi ke Safar Mein Guzar Jaate Hain Jo Makaam
Woh Phir Nehin Aate...
EPISODE: The episode starts with Soha crying because her skin is itching.
Dev brings a balm Mamaji gave him to reduce itching. He gets restless to hear her cry.
Sonakshi come out and tells him that she will put the balm and tells him to stay outside.
She goes in and tells Soha that her father brought her magic balm.
Soha asks if she can meet her dad. Sona says that she can't meet him yet. But she can close her eyes and imagine that her dad is applying the medicine. And when she gets better her father will tell her lots of stories.
Dev hurriedly agrees from outside. Sona applies the balm on her and Soha feels better.
Soha smiles looking at the door and falls asleep.
Dev is frustrated outside.
Me: In any other family, this would have been a normal couple scene where both parents are working together to make their daughter feel better and get well soon. But in this case, this is just the calm before the storm.
Sonakshi comes out and tells Dev that his balm worked so thanks.
Dev says that she doesn't need to thank him for taking care of his daughter. His family comes first for him.
Sonakshi says ironically that she very well knows that his family comes first for him before everyone else.
Then Sonakshi tells him that she is going out, if Soha needs anything, ask Elena to go in. But he should stay out.
Dev stops her and says that she stopped him for coming in so that he doesn't get sick so thanks.
Sonakshi says that there's no need to thank her for something she has always done. She has always took care of the people around her.
She leaves.
Me: That conversation was probably the most honest conversation they had since Dev's proposal in season one. Sonakshi let him know that she knows what he thinks about his family and that she never was a part of it and she also pointed out to Dev that she had always take care of people around her whether they had acknowledged that or not. May I say that I am enjoying this fiesty, no-nonsense Sonakshi?
At Bose house, Ronita is cooking in the kitchen and Bijoy and Saurabh are watching her just like I used to circle around the kitchen when I smelled good smell coming from inside. It whets appetite, you know?
Bijoy: Ronita beta, put some more garlic in there.
Saurabh: Ronita, don't listen to Baba. He does not know anything.
They start arguing when Asha comes there: Shut up. She knows how to cook so no need to share your expert knowledge.
Ronita smiles.
Asha gets a phone call. Bijoy asks who is calling. Asha says that her friend.
She comes out and it was Sona. She tells Sona that her father was standing there so she had to come out.
Sona gives news about Soha. She is feeling better as the medicine is working.
Asha is happy. She says that she will come to meet Soha soon.
Sona says that she should spend time with the newly weds. There is no hurry to come.
Asha hangs up the phone.
She turns around and Bijoy is standing there.
He is fuming. He asks so that was her friend. He says that Soha was sick and you did not tell me. She is something to me too. You did not tell me because then Dixit's reality would have come out. They could not take care of a child.
Asha says: This is why I don't tell you anything. Soha had chicken pox. Where is the Dixits' fault in this?
Me: Asha, the chicken pox is no one's fault. But the fact that Bijoy doesn't know that Soha has chicken pox is definitely your fault. All he knows is that Soha is sick. And worse, you didn't tell him so he could not see how his granddaughter is doing. That is definitely your fault. His reaction is anger. But how much of that anger is disappointment in you as a wife that remain to be seen. But then Bijoy is not Dev Dixit. He won't hold this over your head forever to flog you any time he feels like.
Asha says: You always overreact.
Bijoy agrees but tricks her and locks her in the room.
Asha shouts from inside.
Bijoy says that now it's his turn to lock her. Now he will do what he thinks is right.
Asha keeps banging on the door frustrated.
Me: How did it feel Asha to be treated like child? How did it feel to be tricked by someone you trusted? Does Bijoy overreact? Yes. But had Dev didn't sneak out with Sona and Soha like a thief breaking the fragile truce, had he said good bye to his girls, had you told him about Soha's sickness and went to visit her like normal grandparents, he won't have done what he did today. Unlike you, he is not an unreasonable and deceitful man. But he is not a pushover either.
At Dixit house, Golu comes to play with Dev. But he says that he doesn't have mood. Golu wonders if he is upset because of him.
Dev says that Suhana is sick so he doesn't want to play. When Suhana gets better, they will all play.
Golu gets upset and says that he always thinks about Suhana. She is sleeping but he still doesn't want to play. Even when Suhana gets better, he won't play with him.
He runs away from Dev.
Dev was going behind him when Elena comes there.
Dev tells Elena to talk to Golu. Elena says that she will talk to him. She gives him a prescription for Suhaana's medicine and asks him to pick them up.
Dev leaves in a hurry with the prescription and Golu watches him leaving. He thinks that his Bigcha does not even think about him anymore.
Me: Do you remember when I said that Dev can't balance relationships and that his inability to balance will cause problem between Golu and Soha? Yep. See? Last time he expected his wife to understand him, now whom will he ask to understand? Both are children.
Why couldn't he have suggested to play a board game with Golu? Do adults always want to play with kids after even a long and bad day? No.
But the people who care about kids, they still play. If not an energetic outdoor sport, at least an indoor game or a craft project like making a card. The point is not what they are doing or playing, the point is to spend time together. This is what Dev did to Sona and this is what he did today to Golu. And both times, he will lose someone who was not a blood relation but fiercely loyal to him for a blood relation.
Bijoy comes to Dixit house calling Soha's name. Radha stops him.
Elena asks what happened.
Bijoy barks: Where is Soha?
Elena tells him that she is upstairs.
Bijoy says that he has come to take her.
Elena: Meso, she is sick and Dev went to get medicine.
Bijoy: That's why I came. If she stays here, she will get sicker.
Radha says: What did you say?
Bijoy walks to Soha's room, Radha, Vicky and Elena run after him.
Bijoy enters the room and sees Soha sleeping.
He whispers: What they had done to my baby.
He is about to walk to the bed when Radha stops him: You can't touch her.
Bijoy whispers for her to not come between them.
Vicky tries to stop him. But Bijoy shuts him up too.
Anyways, Radha, Bijoy and Vicky bicker. Bijoy whispering and Radha and Vicky in full volume.
Elena finally steps in and for once in her life speaks sense. She says that the rules are same for everyone. And Bijoy is ruining it for Soha. Everything is happening in front of Sona. Does he think Sona will let anything happen to her?
Bijoy always listens to fair reasoning. So he calms down and agrees to leave.
Radha and Vicky warn him to never come back.
Bijoy leaves.
Me: Again, if Asha hadn't lied and talked to Bijoy reasonably and come to visit Soha like normal grandparents after informing Sona, then all this drama won't have happened. But oh well, you reap what you sow.
Bijoy is impulsive but even in mad impulse he listens to reason from a neutral person. Unfortunately, in Bijoy's eyes, Asha is no longer a neutral person.
Elena tells Radha and Vicky to not share this incident with Dev and Sona or they will have problem over this. Radha tells her sarcastically to worry about that house. They are here to take care of Dev.
Elena gets silent.
Me: Now let's see here.
Elena gave up her family for this house. She gave birth to a son. She didn't leave her husband.
Yet, she is told to mind her family, the one whom they didn't let her meet for 7 years and stay out of Dixit matters.
So in short, even after 7 years, Elena is an outsider.
On the other hand, Sonakshi left her husband and went back to her family. She has her own business, people who cherish and love her, she lives life on her own terms. She doesn't have to find her place, she has one.
So I ask you, who made the better decision between the two?
Dev is on his way to grab medicine when he gets a call. He stops his bike to take the call and sees Sona and Jatin in a car talking.
When he gets down from the bike and approaches the car, they drive away. They don't see him.
He gets angry.
Me: I am not getting your reason to get pissed off, Bhaiya. Sona told you that she is going out. She didn't say where and with whom and why. She left Elena in charge of Soha's care and you went to fetch her medicine. So it's none of your business.
Dev comes home and gives medicine to Elena. Elena was about to say what happened. But she says instead that Soha didn't wake up.
Dev says that thank God because her mother or I wasn't there.
Elena thinks about Bijoy and says that otherwise it would have been another drama.
Both asks each other why are they worried and both claim for Suhana.
Elena goes upstairs to give medicine to Soha.
Me: Bhai wah. Dev aur Sonakshi se jyada to inki tuning better hain.
Bijoy comes home and sitting with Asha. No, he didn't kept her locked whole night without food or water like Dev tried to do with Sonakshi and like Asha did to him. What kind of monster does that?
Asha says that whatever is in his heart, he should say it.
Bijoy: Asha, I know I am overreacting but you know naa, how protective I am of Soha? I probably love her more than Sona. I spent Sona and Saurabh's childhood at work. But Soha grew up in front of my eyes. Now I am having to share her with Dixits who ruined my Sona's life. How will he take care of my Soha when they could not take care of my Sona?
Asha smiles: Bijoy, Soha was happy with us. But now she is happier. She is getting love of so many people. Then why are you thinking that Dev won't be able to take care of her there?
Me: Asha, you probably didn't hear. He already gave the answer. He is worried because he is comparing Sona's unhappiness with Soha. Now please listen what he is saying and instead of assuming, give him answers with proof as which incident made you reach that conclusion.
Anyhoo, Sonakshi comes in talking on the phone giving someone instructions when Dev snatches her phone.
Sonakshi gets shocked.
Dev: If you can't do it then tell me that you can't do it.
Sona: What can't happen?
Dev: Fulfilling a mother's responsibilities. The whole day you either roam around or talk on the phone. No one becomes a good mother by giving medicine and applying lotion.
Sona is shocked.
Dev continues: I don't know if you even remember or not that you have a daughter who is sick. You could not sit at home for four days? And if you can't do this, then let me know. I can take care of my daughter myself. If you didn't notice, I was also taking care of a child for six years.
Me: Excuse me. Let me stop laughing before I speak. Ok so Bhaiya, you had been caring for a child, huh? You were the one who every single day used to get him breakfast, get him ready for school, packed his lunch, made him do his homework, sang him lullaby without fail for six years? That's why he used to run from people to people looking for someone to help him wear his tie, ate breakfast alone and waited for you eagerly to show up whenever you could spare your time from the random chicks?
Please, don't open your mouth anymore. Because your nonsense talks are getting intolerable and actually sounding exactly what a chauvinist man tells a working woman.
Sona: I know, Mr. Dixit. That's why I never raised a question on your parenting and upbringing because I know my limits.
Dev: Means now you have problem with my parenting too?
Me: Are you serious? You were the one who raised fingers on her parenting whose solid proof is Soha. And you are surprised that the rest of the four fingers are pointing at you? You are kidding, right?
Sona: No. I didn't say that. I said the exact opposite. You see yourself in every sentence. So selfish. Mr. Boodhhoo. Ekdom impossible.
Me: Haan kya karen? Ishwari ki parvarish hain. Har cheez mein khud ko insert karne ka training to wohi se mili hogi.
Sonakshi was about to go when he grabs her arm and swings her to him.
She gets startled.
Dev: Enough of your Tumi Tumi. You still have time. Say you can't be a good mother. At least you won't have to pretend to be a good mother, no?
Sonakshi finally gets angry: How dare you say this? I am pretending to be a good mother?
Dev: What else? Why did you go out, tell me? Who did you go to meet? And now came home with fruits to show that you are a good mother? And coming home talking about work. If this is not drama, then what is it?
He grabs her hand and gives her phone.
Me: Sorry. You guys will have to give me some time to get rid of my anger because right now I have to cool down.
At Bose house, Asha says: I wanted to tell you something for a long time. I used to see Dev from a different angle. I had a lot of anger for him. But when he started to live with us, I saw a different Dev. He may not had been a good husband. But he is a good person. He wants what is right for Soha. And I think that this time, because of Soha, Sona's life will change.
Me: Asha, these days I have hard time believing anything you say because your agenda is very clear to me. But let's analyze. So you hated Dev before he came in your home, huh?
I have never seen any hatred in you for Dev. EVER. Your expression and body language had always been pleasant in front of him even before he came in your house to stay. In fact, he called you his favourite Bose girl the moment he stepped in because of that. So tell that junk to someone else.
Bijoy: What are you trying to say?
Asha: This time she didn't go as daughter-in-law of the house so neither she has any expectations from them, nor they have any expectations from her. So may be sees a different sides of them? And in them Ishwari ji is also included.
Me: Asha, you are forgetting. Before marriage, Sonakshi did go to Dixit house as an employee where she had no expectations from them nor they had any expectations from her. She has seen all sides there was to see of Dixits. So keep your lame excuses to yourself.
Secondly, Ishwari didn't hate your daughter because she let her down. She hated your daughter because she made Dev happier than she made him. So, unless you expect your daughter to make Dev miserable ever after so that he can go and bi*ch to his Mummy how awful Sona is, Ishwari has no desire to see any other side of your daughter.
At Dixit house, Sona continues: I don't even want to waste my anger on you. I don't have to prove to you whether I can be a good mother or not. I love my daughter and she knows it. And that's enough for me.
Dev (sarcastic tone): Love?
Sona: Unconditional love. The love I feel for my daughter, my father feels for me and once upon a time I used to feel for you.
Dev speakty not.
Sona continues: But you will never understand that. Because in your dictionary everything needs a reason or a condition. You also raised question on our love and I got tired of proving myself. But my daughter doesn't ask me to prove anything. She believes in my love.
Me: Okay, let's first start with Bhaiya.
So Bhaiya, first of all, unlike you who vanished without telling anyone just two days ago and your daughter kept calling you looking for you, Sonakshi had informed you where she was going and left Elena in charge. She was also at all times reachable because she took her phone (unless you had tried calling her and she did not pick up, that's what I'd assume since she was holding a cell phone).
Secondly, why she went out, who she went out with, what was the urgent need for her to go, that's, frankly speaking, none of your business. So kindly mind your business.
Thirdly, unlike your mother, Sonakshi actually has to make a living because guess what neither you pay child support, nor enough alimony so that she can take care of her family and herself including your daughter. So don't try to lecture her on how to be a good mother when you were not even a good father to ask whether Soha has any medical condition or allergies even until now. Those are actually more relevant and legitimate questions than finding out why your ex-wife went out.
Fourth, whether she is a good mother or bad mother, she has absolutely zero need to prove herself to you. The steller job she did bringing up Soha speaks for itself. So unlike your two-faced nature, she has no need to pretend to go fruit shopping or to walk in talking in the phone to show you what she was up to. Because guess what? That's also none of your business.
Sonakshi, I loved that you stood up for yourself today. However, today one thing was clear that what Dev had said 7 years ago that night is still a raw wound when he negated your love, efforts for his family, your womanhood and your worth. And what he spoke today just brought back all those memories, didn't it. Except now you have proof that you are an excellent mother and you know that the only one who needs to believe that - Soha, she will vouch for you. So today your tears didn't come, your heart didn't break and that's the sign that you are confident in your parenting.
However, what I found interesting was that when you spoke of unconditional love, you spoke about the love of your daughter, the love you felt for Dev, the love your father has for you. But most people, when they talk about unconditional love, they talk about either their mother first (or at least mentions her) or their parents together. Funny how your mother's name never came into your list of unconditional love. May be because, in your subconscious you know that your mother doesn't love you unconditionally?
Anyhoo, Soha calls Sonakshi, she goes running with Dev behind her. Sona goes in but stops Dev from coming in because he promised Soha.
She goes in and hugs Soha. Soha says that she had a bad dream so she wants to lie down hugging her Mummy.
Sonakshi says okay. But she comes out.
Dev asks where is she going? Sonakshi says that she is going nowhere. But could he tell a story so that Soha falls asleep soon?
Dev agrees.
Sona goes in and tells Soha that her dad will tell her a story.
Dev tells story from outside and Soha smiles inside.
Me: This is how a good mother behaves. Despite the fact that Bhaiya pointed finger at her upbringing and her capability of raising children, she made sure that Soha's dad doesn't fall sick by coming in and also worked with him so that her child is comfortable and falls asleep quickly. She didn't hold grudges or anger because right now, her daughter is more important than her anger or ego. Next time you question her Bhaiya, ask yourself that did you treat Soha's mother with her due respect for Soha's sake and when you get the answer then ask yourself, who has yet to be a good parent?
Soha falls asleep and Sonakshi comes out to inform Dev that Soha is sleeping. Dev smiles and leaves.
In the meanwhile, Vicky and Radha plotting. Annoying as eff. Watch yourself. But the gist of it is Vicky says that Bijoy was right assessing their intention so they should have let him take his granddaughter and Radha is saying that they have to make plan to make both Sona and Soha leave permanently.
Me: If I have to assume that the spoiler is right, Ishwari's slap will be their masterplan.
In the meanwhile, in Bose house, Bijoy tells Asha: You are thinking too much. What else does Sonakshi has to see in people of that house? They have shown their true colours to her already. You know how they treated our daughter. Ishwari ji will never change Asha. She only cares about her son. She doesn't care about anyone else. You are thinking too much. Nothing will change.
Asha: Bijoy, time changes everything. In 7 years our life changed then won't their life have changed as well? I agree that Ishwari and Sona's relationship wasn't right. But that was 7 years ago. Now she has gone there as Sona's mother. May be she gets to see a different side of Ishwari ji?
Me: See the thing is that Bijoy Bose can back each of his statement with solid current proof. But Asha can't.
Asha, I had been saying since you started your philosophical talk that your agenda was very clear to me. You were always eager to get your daughter married and remain married. It doesn't matter if she was happy or not, the point is that she has to be married.
Even in season 2, you tried with Jatin. That failed and now you are using Soha as an excuse to push Sona. Again not giving a damn about your daughter's feelings or her wishes.
Now, Asha, let's talk about your some more lame excuses.
1. Time changes everything and your life has changed. But may I ask you what change you have noticed in Ishwari? It's not as if you didn't meet her since 7 years ago.
Does she stop interfering in her son's business? No. She came to talk to you to talk to Sona to vacate her building.
Does she stop following her son everywhere? No. She dropped in the very next day at your house without any reason carrying food.
Does she suddenly love Sona now that she has proved that she is a "woman" by becoming a mother? No. Her attitude on the street to stop Dev from agreeing to Soha spoke otherwise.
Now, you are hoping that now that your daughter has paid the entrance fee to Ishwari's stone heart by having a child, Ishwari's heart will turn into sugarplum fairy's Candy Cane castle.
But let's not forget that a. Ishwari herself came to your house to threat you that she will take away her granddaughter and
b. 7 years ago, Sona had seen Ishwari's different side when she thought that Sona was pregnant. In fact you all have witnessed it. But when she found out that Sona wasn't pregnant, you all, including Sona has witnessed the real side of Ishwari as well.
So tell me Asha, do you expect your daughter to spend the rest of her life pregnant so that she can live on Ishwari's mercy?
The fact that Dev still behaves irrationally over his mother still, you have recently witnessed as well. So do you expect your daughter to again take on that pain again so that you can get mental satisfaction of calling her married as opposed to a single mother?
In fact, I don't see any difference between Ronita's mother and you at all.
At least she loved her daughter and that's why she tried to get rid of her single sister-in-law. But you want to get rid of your own daughter because that's what you want whether that's what Sonakshi wants or not.
No wonder Sonakshi can't remember you when she talks about unconditional love. Because you don't love her unconditionally. Bijoy does and he has always done. For him, his daughter's happiness comes over everything.
Asha continues her excuses: Besides our Sona is strong, righteous, she always does right and most importantly, she is very forgiving.
May be she won't be able to forgive Dev. But everyone else?
Anything can happen, Bijoy. Anything.
Bijoy thinks.
Me: Yep. Anything can happen when someone has a mother like you. Let's see here, Asha. So you are saying that it's fine if Sona can't forgive Dev, but as long as she forgives everyone else, it's all good. So is Sona marrying Ishwari? Mamaji? Radha? Vicky? Then what does it matter whether she can forgive the rest of not if she can't forgive the person you are pushing her to be with?
Honestly your excuses are so lame that had Bijoy not loved you so much, he could have shredded them in nano second like I did. But being with a husband who never even talks over you, you think you are an authority on Sona's painful past and relationship. Because of mothers like you, women in our society kept being abused.
At Dixit house, Sona comes down and asks PK to get her a bowl of ice water for Soha to bring down her fever. PK runs to do her bidding.
Suddenly Sona hears something. She goes towards the window and sees someone peeking inside the house from outside. She goes outside and runs after him. While running, she calls Jatin that she saw that man again and she is chasing him.
She calls out and asks him to stop. The man turns and it's Khatri.
Me: Haila!!! Khatri aa gaya.
Tune maari entriya re
Dil mein baji ghantiya re
Tang tang tang tang...
Lekin wait a minute. Samajh mein nehin aa raha hain ki party karo ya afsos. Woh kya hain naa ki CVs can do two things.
Ya to phir se Ishwari ko dukhiyari aatma dikhayenge Khatri ko villain banake jiske sympathy ki flood mein unke purani kartooton ka Ganga snan ho jayega. As in wiped out with Tide ki dhulai.
Ya phir Ishwari ko villain banayenge Khatri ko bechara dikha kar taaki Bhaiya ki ghanti baje. Tang tang tang tang.
Lekin chalo much baatein saaf ho gayee.
1. Jatin ne koi inside locha nehin kiya kyunki woh Flash nehin hain ki andar bahar ek saath present reh sake.
2. Jatin ainvayee tour karne nehin aaya tha. Sona ne usse bulaya tha.
3. Sona ne usse bulaya tha kyunki usse ek aadmi spy karte hue dikha tha. Ab musibat mein insaan friends ko hi yaad karta hain. Bhaiya ki attitude friendly nehin hain naa.
4. Saat saal pehle Sonakshi ne Khatri ko sirf ek baar dekha tha. Lekin Ishwari ne usse kuch nehin kahan tha. I wonder Sonakshi ki memory kitni tez hain.
PRECAP: Jatin and Sona are talking in Dixit house.
Dev says: How many times will you prove that you are best friends?
Me: As many times you prove that you are an arse.
Dev: Sonakshi, how your father made my mother to leave from your house.
Sona: This is Jatin. My friend.
Dev: Is he more important than my mother and Suhaana's Daadi?
Me: Bhaiya, that answer only you can give. You see, you brought Elena as a friend to Saurabh's Haldi celebration, didn't you? So is she more important than your mother and Suhaana's Daadi for you?
I can bet that Soha thinks that Jatin is as important for her as Elena.
Dev: From now on, without my permission, don't bring anyone here. You remember? My house, my rules?
Me: Fair enough. Then make sure Bhaiya that
1. You don't drop in unannounced at Bose house.
2. No Elena or Golu allowed there either without Bijoy's permission,
3. When Sona tells you to shut up, you shut up.
4. When Sona asks you to stop interfering in her family matters, you butt out
5. Even if you or Soha need Ishwari, she is not allowed to step foot in that house without Bijoy's permission, and most importantly
6. In Sona's house, you will at all times keep your mouth shut in front of Jatin. Whether he stays there all the time, or just hangs around the family, you won't say a thing.
Remember that is Sona's house, Sona's rules and you are about to get your dues in less than a week.
But then, when did equality ever made sense to your selfish nature and narrow-minded brain?
