I think from their respective perspectives both Maya and Ayaan can be right...I'm not saying Ayaan is right or he shouldn't be punished...But from Ayaan's perspective he had no intention of sexually assaulting Maya..Ayaan didn't intend to rape Maya he was intoxicated he told Sanjh all what we (audience) saw..whatever happened wasn't Maya's illusion that's for sure...Ayaan tried to physically assault Maya but Maya considered it sexual assault maybe because of his obscene dialogues, we saw flashbacks of those scenes from Ayaan's perspective but not actual conversation...but than Ayaan's dialogues were heard by Arjun too...If all what is shown to us is all what happened than possibly Ayaan physically assaulted Maya and Maya misinterpreted it as sexual assault due to his misconduct and obscene dialogues...well any girl will consider it sexual assault...
I don't want this story to proceed Aitraaz way but than Maya's dialogue "We are still connected by hatred" Arjun will not be able to even hate Maya if Maya framed Ayan in actual...He assaulted her physically but she narrated Arjun the story she wanted him to believe...A story of Sexual Assault by her own BIL...As Arjun is trusting Maya here he is seeing single perspective of the narration and for him no girl can victimize herself in this case without being the actual victim...Maybe the symbolism of dupatta scene was Arjun is trusting Maya's side of story without any doubt even after her past record, Sanjh will probably reveal the other side of same story...After tying up Arjun Maya said "From now onwards nobody will come between us" how she was so sure?? she wanted to trap Ayan in the case of "Physical Violence" and she surpassed the limits by tying Arjun up and locking the room as if she wanted Ayaan to see him in that state..Ayaan in beyhad anger tore her clothes and his obscene dialogues turned it to the case of "Attempt to Rape" that was indeed in Maya's favor...She might have used the scenario in her favor that's it!! bu that doesn't make Ayaan doondh ka dhula...Sanjh Madam will prove the same and Ayaan will be left unpunished as he was intoxicated, had no intention to rape Maya or was provoked by Maya to snatch the keys any possible way or something blah blah like that..If it turned out to be this way than I will be hugely disappointed...As no matter what Ayaan also crossed his limits by tearing her clothes and by his obscene dialogues...Even if Maya is proven guilty as Ayaan's intentions weren't wrong his actions were definitely wrong and he should get punished for them..if not than Maya shouldn't also be punished for anything as like an intoxicated person mentally ill person isn't also in his/her senses...
Jennifer is such natural actress that its verry difficult to say Maya is faking it all and I truly don't want that as after that Maya might be all alone but still redeemable (my POV only) as she will get back to her senses that way, she will understand the path she chose after leaving her Lord her best fried was the path of destruction...I want the story to proceed in a way that Maya is right this time but is proven wrong she definitely need to lose she need to let Arjun go for her own betterment...To be set free Arjun must stop feeling anything for Maya...not even hatred...that can be possible if Maya actually did what Arjun thought no girl can do..
What I stated are mere assumptions they can be completely wrong it all depends on writers..Most of the people watch this show for Maya as they sympathize with Maya they want to see the consequences of Beyadness of every character but with happy ending for Maya, it will a be huge disappointment if Maya's character turn completely dark..
EDITED
PS: There was bandage on Maya's nail when she showed her scars to Arjun..that bandage wasn't there when Ayan was assaulting her..
Bandage disappeared after that narration scene on the same day..
