Chapter Five
Dev got back to his room leaving his confused family behind...tears welled up in his eyes, his vision blurred as he pulled out an album from his wardrobe...it contained various pictures of Sonakshi and him which they had clicked for various occasions ...he wept his heart out thinking of the fond moments these two had spent with each other...his Cheeku, his cute little kiddo had turned bad thus turning his world upside down...he had always considered her as his friend, no best friend...there were several occasions when they had touched and hugged each other lovingly but this love was never laden with lust...people would often doubt their relationship and many a times Sona would be referred to his secret girlfriend in his business circle but he had never cared about such incidents...but today his biggest strength had cheated him...how could she ?...he remembered the time when Jay had asked them whether they would like to get married to each other considering the fact that they were so close , but Sona had laughed it off saying that she can never love Dev like a woman loves a man.
He was lost in thoughts when his phone buzzed ...his expressions changed from soft to angered one as Sona's name flashed on the caller ID...Sona had probably been crying all this while, her voice seemed choked..."Bunny sun na meri baat...please aisa mat kar...mujhe pata hai ki tune abhi mere ghar aakar jo bhi kahaan woh sab gusse mein kahaan and you actually didn't mean it...sun hum na kal subah milkar saari galat faimiyan dur kar lete hai...phir sab sort out ho jayega...tu sunn raha hai na main kya bol rahi hoon? "...Sona enquired as she failed to hear any response from the other side..."aaj tak yehi to karta aaya hoon...teri baatein sunkar tujhpe bharosa karta aaya hoon...teri khatir apni maa se tak muh mod liya tha maine...par tune..."...Dev's voice choked but he gained control..."chod...ab saara sach mere saamne hai...actually maina kal tujhse milne jaroor aata par kya kare Sona, pandit jii ne kahaan hai ki shaadi se ek din pehle ladka aur ladki ka milna apshakun hai...so you know main nahi chahta ki humari married life mein iss baat se koi problem ho"
Sona was shocked to know that Dev was still adamant about his decision..."Bunny tu abhi bhi wahi saari baatein kar raha hai...maine kahaan na ki main yeh sab nahin kar sakti...tujhse shaadi karne ka khayaal bhi mere dimaag mein kabhi nahi aaya...main to bass"...Dev retorted angrily..."mere saath suhaagrat manana chahti thi...haina...mujhe nahin pata tha ki Sonakshi Malhotra itni jyaada bold and bindaas ladki hai...bina shaadi ke hi mere saath suhaagraat manane ke sapne dekhe jaa rahe the...kamala hai Sona, itne saaloan mein apne iss hawas ki bhanak tak lagne nahin di tune mujhe...".
"Enough Dev...bohot ho gaya...kabse dekh rahi hoon meri baataon ka tum mazaak udaye jaa rahe ho, unhe ansuna kar rahe ho...samajh kya rakha hai khudko tumne...koi bhi ayega aur tumse kahega ki maine galti kii hai to tum aakar mujhe yahaan dhamkao ge aur apni mann ki kar loge...aisa kuch nahin hoga...main kisi bhi keemat par tumse shaadi nahin karungi..."...Sona had started taking lead in this battle when Dev made sure she was pulled back to square one.
"5 saaloan pehle Bijoy kaka ne papa se 4 crore rupaye udhaar liye the...shayad Saurabh keliye koi business set up karna chahte the woh...business to set hua nahin par kaka mere papa ke ehsaano tale jaroor dab gaye...ab socho agar itne saalaon baad main Bijoy kaka se achanak woh paise lautane keliye keh doon to?...ya agar main unhe fraud ke case mein jail bhijwa doon to?...kahin woh toot na jaye Sona...sadme se kahin unhe kuch ho na jaye...kahin unki jaan..."...Dev mocked Sona over the phone...how well did he know her...he was aware that she only faked to be a tigress on the face...the reality was that she had a heart of a rabbit...she was not only timid in her features but was also timid nature-wise...and her biggest fear was losing her loved one's.
"Dev...tum aisa kuch bhi nahin karoge...please Dev aisa mat karo mere saath...tumhe pata haina aisi baataon se mujhe bohot darr lagta hai...please don't do this to me Dev..."...she pleaded for mercy only to be ruthlessly turned down by Dev.
"aww sweetheart...itni jaldi darr gayi...abhi toh aur bohot kuch hona baaki hai...bohot saari exciting cheezein iss ghar mein tumhara wait kar rahi hai...aur tum ho ki yahaan aana hi nahin chahti...aise koi karta hai kya"...his talks were only scaring her all the more..."tumhari narajgi mujhse haina...mere parents ko iss sab mein matt lana please...tumhe jo chahte ho waisa hi hoga...tum jaisa kahoge main waisa hi karungi...par please mere mummy papa ko kuch mat karna...I beg of you Dev...please"...on any other day Dev would have smashed the person who would hurt his Cheeku to this extent...but today he himself was responsible for her sorrow.
"that's like my good girl...ab meri baat dhyan se suno...aaj jo kuch bhi maine tumse kahaan woh tum kisise bhi nahin kahogi...apne maa baba se bhi nahin...parso subah ko humesha ki tarah kaka aur kaaki park mein tehelne jayenge...tumhe usi waqt ghar se nikalna hoga...wahaan se seedha mere family court pohunch jaana...main tumse wahi aake milunga...mere lawyer saari formalities kar dega ...shaadi hote hi hum dono saath mein ghar jayege aur sabko yeh baat batayenge...kyunki main nahi chahta ki shaadi se pehle kisi ko bhi pata chale ki meri shaadi tumse ho rahi hai...job hi tamasha hona hai shaadi ke baad hoga...sab tumse sawaal poochenge ki yeh sab achanak se kyun aur kaise hua...tum kisise kuch nahi kahogi...jo batana hai main bol dunga...tum bas chup chap khadi hokar meri haan mein haan milati jaogi...samajh gayi na acche se..."...Dev commanded Sona who listened to him like a puppet.
"par Dev, mumma papa ko bina bataye yeh sab kaise..."...Sona tried to convince him so that she could confide in her parents..."no ways Sona...yeh game bhale hi tumne shuru kiya tha Sona par ise aage ab main khelunga...iske rules bhi mere honge...tum wahi karogi jo main tumse karne ko kahunga...tum na toh kisi ki madad logi na hi kisi ko sacchai batane ki kosish karogi...apne parents ko to bilkul nahi bataogi tum yeh sab...koi chaalaki nahin...warna tum to jaanti hi ho ki main kya kar sakta hoon..."...Dev threatened her as she meekly put down her guns...she was left with no option then to obey all his orders...guess this was her punishment for being so dependent on Dev since childhood...he knew all her secrets and weak points...and he also knew how to use them in her favor or against her...guess he was just doing the latter.
Sona fell on the floor defeated...there was nothing she could do to stop Dev...he was hell bent on destroying her life and she couldn't do anything to protect herself...2 days flew by in no time...today was the day when her life would take a drastic turn from where she would never be able to return back to her normal self...not only will she be hated by Dev's family members but her parents might also despise her for fleeing away and getting married...as if she was a toy being controlled by Dev, she followed his orders one by one...as soon as he parents left for morning walk she slipped out of the house and went straight to family court...Dev and his lawyer were already present there, waiting for her to arrive...as soon as she arrived, Dev signaled his lawyer to go ahead with the arrangements and came forward to talk to her.
"dhang se ready to hokar aati...shaadi hai aaj tumhari...woh bhi Delhi ke most promising businessman se...aise aayi ho jaise kisi ki picnic pe jaa rahi ho...agar acche kapde khareedne ke paise na nahi the to mujhe bol deti...itne ehsaan kar raha hoon already tumpar...ek aur kar deta"...Dev's taunts never seemed to cease these days...all Sona could do was not react to any of his talks..."woh acche kapde pehenke aati to bhai ko shaq ho jaata...isiliye..."...Dev smirked much to her irritation..."as always...bahane banana to koi tumse seekhe Ms Malhotra...har sawaal ka jawaab hota hai na tumhare paas...har game mein bass tumhein hi jeetna hai...par afsos yeh jo latest game tumne shuru ki hai usmein to main tumhe hara ke rahunga...bohot buri tareeke se harogi tum aur kosogi uss har pal ko jab tumne mujhe paane ki chah se Natasha ko mujhse dur kiya tha"...Dev glared at her angrily, his fingers digging into her arms, as a silent tear rolled down her cheeks.
Dev dragged her inside the courtroom as she walked lamely like a corpse...his lawyers had done all the preparations and they were awaiting for the couple to arrive and sign the papers...Dev after signing the papers passed the pen on to Sona, but she stood there starring at nothing as if lost in a trance...Dev forced the pen into her hands and pulled her hands down to make her sign..."jaldi sign karo sweetheart...hume yahaan se ghar bhi jaana hai...poora din yahi pe nahi bitana haina...now common be a good girl and sign quickly..."...Dev squeezed Sona's palms as she unwillingly signed on the papers.
After completing all the formalities at the court Dev drove Sona off to his farmhouse..."hum yahaan kyun aaye hai?...hum to ghar jaane waale the na...?"...asked a confused Sona..."ghar bhi chale jayenge sweety...pehle dhang ke kapde to pehen lo...ab tum boring Sonakshi Malhotra nahin rahi...the Dev Dixit ki patni ban gayi ho...kam se mere status ki lagne ki kosish to karlo...aur kisi cheez ki umeed to tumse kar nahin sakte..."...Dev taunted her as Sona tried to be calm...she had accepted her destiny and had promised herself that she would not fall weak infront of Dev and also would not shed tears.
Soon the caretakers of the farmhouse led Dev and Sona inside and handed over to them their designer clothes...Dev signaled Sona to get ready as he moved into the nearby bedroom...with a heavy heart Sona got decked up as the bride...she felt sad at heart as she had always heard her mother and father wish to see her decked up as a bride sometime soon...they had planned so many things for her and had saved whatever they could for that day...but today she had destroyed all their dreams...she had got married without even taking their consent...although she had been forced into this marriage, the truth did remain intact that she had eloped.
As Sona sat at the dresser lost in her train of thoughts, she failed to notice Dev who had entered her room after waiting for a long time for her to arrive...yet another dangerous thought popped up in his mind as he approached Sona and held her by her shoulders...Sona jumped up with fear and stood against wall as Dev approached her menacingly..."kya hua Sona?...maine achanal se pakda to darr gayi ...par sochne waali baat to yeh hai ki tumhe darr kaisa...tum to yahi chahti thi na...phir ab yeh sati savitri banne ka naatak kyun...yeh darna, jhijhakna...yeh sab tunhe suit nahi karta hai...tum toh bold aur bindaas ho na...so you should stay true to your real self..."...Sona shut her eyes tightly and turned her face around as Dev was now standing at a minimal distance from her...his face was dangerously close to hers...she clenched her cold fists as he cupped and angled her face as if all set to kiss her..."no...please...please don't do this to me Dev"...she pleaded with folded hands..."yeh kya Sona?...bas itne mein hi darr gayi?...abhi se tumhara yeh haal hai to aage kya hoga?...aur aaj to humari first night haina...mere jara sa paas aane par tumhe itna darr lag raha hai to phir hum suhaagraat kaise manayenge Sona?"...Dev let go of her with a jerk and walked out of the room as Sona sensed her fence coming down...just a moment ago she had promised herself to not shed a tear and now tears just didn't cease to fall from her deep-brown eyes.

Back at Dixit Niwas Ishwari was worried as Dev had left the house early in the morning without informing anybody...it was half past 9 ...Jay had tried contacting all his friends but they were unaware about his whereabouts...he tried calling Sona, but all the calls made to her went unanswered...Ishwari was about to try calling Dev again when she noticed Bijoy and Asha at the main door..."arrey Bijoy...tum yahaan?...achanak kaise...?"...Jay who was already worked up to find Dev was all the more tensed up to find his business partner arrive at his place at this hour.
"Jay humein to Dev ne call karke kahaan ki use koi jaroori baat karni hai to hum yahaan aa jaye...isiliye main aur Asha jhat se yahaan aa gaye...Sona bhi pata nahi kahaan chali gayi hai...subah se gayab hai...phone bhi nahi utha rahi hai"...an equally worried Bijoy had just started explaining the reason for his sudden visit to Dixit Niwas when Dev arrived all decked up as the groom...everyone including Ishwari were shocked to see him this way...Ishwari was about to go ahead and question him when Dev stopped her ..." maine maa se kahaan tha ki do dino mein meri shaadi hogi par unhe yeh nahi bataya tha ki main kisse shaadi karunga... mujhe aise dekhkar to aap sab samajh hi gaye honge ki main kahaan gaya tha...isse pehle ki aap log mujhe hazaar tarah ke sawaal pooche aur mera time waste kare main aap sabko kisi se milwana chahta hoon...jisse milkar aap sabko aapke saare sawaaloan ke jawaab mil jayenge ..." ...saying so he pointed out in a direction from where Sona appeared dressed up as a bride..."meet Mrs Sonakshi Dev Dixit...meri nayi naveli dulhan aur iss ghar ki bahu se...andar aao Sona...kab tak darwaaje pe khadi rahogi?...aashirwad nahin lena hai kya sabka?..."...Dev smirked at her plight as a frightened Sona looked on as her parents felt cheated and Ishwari was shooting daggers at her...Ishwari couldn't believe her plan had failed miserably...where she had planned to separate Dev and Sona forever by making Natasha pen down that false letter...and here her own son was hell bent on turning her game around.
