Lot of people have been adding different opinions

thus it made me bring the discussion up front

I m going to put down some character pointers compared to reality and agree or disagree is your opinion. Take a moment and think through...

1>> Ranveer :

Carefree person who never had to take responsibilities as his life style never needed it. But NOT a spoiled brat even after being rich... values his family, friends and relations more than money and luxuries. Understanding, Caring, Kind-hearted, respects everyone.

2>> Suman:

Widow... that word itself shows the struggles a girl faces in our society who has lost her husband, that too at such a young age. Single mother... lives with mother-in-law and two sister-in-law. No other working person in family meaning the family mostly relied on last male person's earning who is dead now. So... all weight falls on suman. Caring, Simple, Honest, Understanding, AND Sacrificial Lamb. Ready to sacrifice her needs and wishes for others... respects elders.

3>> Kalawati:

Also a widow. Big dreams for her daughters. Cunning on side of unable to tell right - wrong apart. Changes rules of life to whatever suits her. Crafty with a mix of both good and evil. To her, her daughters are always right... even when it is suman on other end. Believes in old culture, but does allow some new cultural changes.

4>> Sindoora

Smart, modern, Crafty person. Her preference varies with the situation. Cares for her husband and son. Choice of friends are people who are some-what similar to herself. Egotistical person who wouldn't need to think twice to get back at someone for denying her what she wants or playing one-hand up on her.

5>> Sanjana:

Down right evil. Prefers modern styles and things. Attention seeker... especially when it comes to rich handsome boys. Never had any intention to help anyone else but herself. Selfish, Drama-queen, able to use any available tool she could to have her way with people (coercion, blackmail, force...) basically by hook or by cook. Intelligence level medium.

6>> Sahil:

Rich spoiled brat. Had everything given to him so has no values for it. Lives as he likes. No moral values. Arrogant, Intelligence level medium-low.

7>> Antara:

Simple (little too much) Obedient, clumsy, shy kind of girl. Respects people, listens well. Wishes well for everyone, (but that's a different pointer that mostly she is stopped from helping suman) Understands right from wrong most times but she too is supressed from saying anything.

8>> Manan:

Loving, caring, understanding, with family and moral values, simple, obedient, shy. Wishes well for everyone. Kind-hearted and does not judge people. respects everyone.

That was what I concluded from the episodes so far. I m recently married and it certainly has been an experience that I could finally verbalise ...

GENERALISING THE POINT:

the girl is expected to bow down a little in front of her in-laws and change her ways to settle better in a new family. New responsibilities are no surprise but it requires some (smallest bit even) extent of giving up your own free will... Your In-Law's wishes before yours.

Working ladies even more so as they are expected to excel both work and home. Your words becomes your error if you try to show your moral values more important than families wishes.

>>In suman's case

she knows she is doing wrong by allowing kalavati and sanjana to deceive and force this marriage on sahil. But she cannot speak as kalavati will kick her out... meaning she will break the promise of taking care of the family in her late husband's place.

suman cannot allow herself to become friendly with people... especially guys as our society still has majority people who treats it as wrong. Best way to keep people away is you shut your heart's doors to people and let them think that you are egotistical.

suman also knew that it was wrong to help sanjana and antara in cooking, but they knew nothing of the terms and theme of the cooking until the very day. It was on the spot that they were allowed to choose,.. weren't told before that they could choose. In the end she had to do it herself as somethings you learn from experience ... cannot be instructed but rather learned from experience.

>> ranveer's case

wouldn't reach to a conclusion that he is blinded by his feelings for suman just yet. Its too early for that. But I can guess that whatever is going to be the result, he will stand by the right and just.

Up until now, my opinion on sahil is the opposite to what you've said. Whether or not this opinion changes over time is something only time will tell.

As of now, I feel sahil isn't spoilt - he respects his elders and his parents - loves his brothers- but seems to be the only one that can see through sanjana and her deceiving plans... I don't think he's a bad/negative character, I think he's just making stupid mistakes because of a bad situation he's stuck in - it's like he's trying his best to get out of his marriage with sanjana and is willing to adopt a wrong method to achieve his freedom.

if he was spoilt - he'd only care about himself, but he doesn't... but for the sake of the family name and his parents he went ahead with the roka, despite not liking sanjana one bit and knowing marrying her will ruin his life... he did say to ranveer he will run away like his friend did if the family pressurise him into marrying sanjana - yet till now he's not done that which does say something about how he is as a person. its quite hard to judge him and his support for sumveer's wedding based on OLV as they don't paint the entire picture of the episode well - but let's see if he does provide genuine support or if its just a case of using sumveer to get out of his marriage with sanjana. if it is the latter i'd be disappointed.

I may be wrong, but I think both Sahil and Manan were smoking in secret, weren't they? Ranveer also did not grow up in the same restrictive environment as the other two. There were times when you could understand Sindoora's frustration with the family. Like when her husband was chastised in front of all by his brother, and Aakash paid no heed to her objections that he shouldn't take blame.

And how does Sahil's spoilt nature (I don't know where moral values comes from just because he parties and has girlfriends) make any of what's being done to him right?

Tell me if the positions were reversed and a girl was drugged similarly and guy took advantage, what would people say about him?

Sahil may be spoilt, but he hasn't been manipulating like Sanjana. No matter how spoilt that is not deserved what was done to him. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they turn Sahil manipulative in order to make Sanjana's actions be more tolerated, and even to give Suman's.role in it a pass.

And Sahil is not so dumb, because he is the only one who is smart enough to turn around and ask right questions when opportunity presents itself. Did he panic, with the bribe? Yeah. But anyone in that position would panic and acting a not so smart way.

Suman can be the self sacrificing bahu all she wants to Kalawathi. But she is no one of any high moral ground to give bhashans while ignoring what was obvious but what she chooses to ignore. Sanjana and Kalawathi (along with Sindoora) manipulated their way into these rishtas.

Hell even Antara was told by Sanjana with a wink that she would do something.

When Niharika admitted that she couldn't cook, why didn't the Parmars also tell the truth? No, they were hoping to skate through on their false pretences and that they may have gotten a pass due to Niharika.

It's not just simply cheating in a cooking competition. It just is indicative of the fact that it is obvious to Suman that her family is lying and hiding truths for this rishta. If she is not in a position to object, okay. If she feels like she has to help her SILs, also okay. But do not pretend to be on higher ground, which she has been doing from start, actually. And even more so, am sure she will start doing once her marriage to Ranveer happens.

but what sanjana did... that wasn't her idea if you guys remember

that was sindoora's crafty idea

only that sanjana brought in someone to have their picks clicked.

and it was only sahil smoking in manan's presence

as for suman

her actions towards ranveer are not justified

its only that she would have behaved with any other guy like that as well

she acts rude...

remember the scene when ranveer and suman finds themselves outside dadi ji's room during sindoora's anniversary party...

suman started her reply politely but then changed it to arrogant the moment she realised she was answering to ranveer.

means what she behaves in ranveer's presence is not her true nature

but only a ruse she uses to try keep him away

but unintentionally she has started to have a soft corner for him...

>>scene when ranveer catches her and flowers fall on them... suman did agreed that it was by mistake and not intentional... and her gesture clearly indicated her wanting to keep distance from ranveer

as for cooking competition

only sanjana wished for a free pass so she wont have to cook

antara on other hand was willing to try her best and that matters

^ it wasn't her idea, but still she knew and went along with it. Even before idea was given, she had vowed in front of her sister she woukd trap Sahil somehow. Suman and Antara both had enough hints that Sanjana would attempt something.

But her idea or not, she participated and partook knowingly willingly.

I agree Antara is not one to try getting out of work. Even Nupur knows there is a difference between Antara and Sanjana, even if she doesn't want both. But her main contention is Sanjana.

Thanks for clarification about Sahil smoking. And like I said before, that does not mean what is being done to him is right.

I agree about Suman having a soft spot for him. I don't think she is rude to him right now. But she will be soon enough, I'm sure. Her and Ranveer's back and forth in college is not what I had problem with. That was due to various reasons. Then they started getting along, though she would never term it as friendship, which I had mentioned earlier. She would never do that due to society perception.

What I was referring to was her bhashans and yelling and being Ranveer and Sahil for the pictures, while being blind to.yhe fact that Sanjana herself had role. Also now, when her and her family's actions are what will lead to her marriage with Ranveer, she will place all blame on Ranveer. (Sahil and Sanjana's photos are what leads to all three brothers' marriages. And it is what ultimately causes her to marry Ranveer too.)

Waise, I don't hate Suman.

Am just pointing out that the Sahil-Sanjana marriage is what leads to Her marriage with Ranveer. She was willfully blind to the manipulations and also took it upon herself that Sahil would be forced to marry Sanjana. Now that same marriage hangs in the balance and is the direct cause of her being forced to marry Ranveer by Kalawathi.

I don't particularly hate this. I actually find it amusing. I am simply pointing it out. 😆

some of you say that suman turns a blind eye to sanjana's plans

but hear me out

does suman really know that sanjana is actually pretending and not really in love??

We see every incident in the show hence we know... but suman doesn't witness everything what people around her does.

So please think again before reaching a conclusion about every character we have, and not just suman.

^^ I didn't say Suman was present during the wink or trapping comment. Only mentioned Antara. I mentioned Antara because she too should know but chose to be quiet. Even without those Suman has enough reason to also question sanjana but she never did. It's fairly obvious and common sense.

Suman knows of Sanjana's stalking Sahil. Suman has seen Sanjana's stalking. She was trying to curb it in their first visit to the mansion. So she knows of her behavior. This is what I meant by saying she knows of Sanjana's personality and behavior. But she chooses to ignore.

She knows how Sanjana and Kalawathi reacted, but she chooses to ignore. Stalking and having a girl say she obsessed with you is enough for Suman to declare how much the girl loves you. Does she bother to question Sanjana on her behavior?

I didn't say Suman knows what Sanjana plotted, but that Suman knows enough of Sanjana's personality to have questioned Sanjana as well. Instead she goes and puts blame on Sahil and yells at Ranveer and Sahil. Her yelling and bhashans influenced Ranveer enough that he was unwilling to listen to Sahil's insistence regarding the bhang, but simply just because he and Manan hadn't had bhaang in their drinks, that was end of discussion.

Now this cooking competition shows how Suman is aware of in things but brushes off this as nothing. My point is she chooses not to open her eyes and think or analyse her own family behaviors but is quick to judge others and give bhashans. I am aware she is Kalawathi's doormat and she cannot do anything about their behavior and can only help the family achieve what they want for their happiness (cheating on cooking competition). But she is not on any moral high ground to give bhashans to others while choosing not to see the actions and behaviors of her own family.

Yes, Sindoora was instrumental in the manipulations and getting the marriage fixed. But Suman also played part of bhashan queen to Sahil and Ranveer.

^^Ditto, could not have agreed any more. This is the point about suman that irks me - she thinks she's some sachai ki devi when she stands there preaching and giving bhashans to ranveer, but where does all that truth come when it comes to her dear sister in laws?

Even in today's episode - she was going to keep quiet and let dadi believe a lie - it wasn't only until ranveer stepped in and told the truth was she left with no choice but to reveal the truth. She is lucky they aren't a family that pick at small matters otherwise what she was doing was wrong - lying that ur sis in laws can do all the housework to their potential in laws, when that's not even true.

I was hoping ranveer would come out of his "awe" zone and actually show suman some home truths.. but it seems that wont happen, as he will soon be falling in love with her. I got to say I prefer the ranveer that used to answer her back in college.

I am really missing the college scenes, is it too much to ask for a college scene... if not now, at least after marriage, will be interesting to see how their interaction changes after marriage...

Edit: also i'd like to add that I agree suman was not present when sanjana winked and gave sahil bhang etc. but considering she was present when sanjana and kalawati said they'd make this marriage happen no matter what is enough for her to join the dots and question sanjana's involvement in the sudden emergence of the photos... suman's issue is she takes everything her in laws say at face value and that's shocking as she lives with them and should be aware of their personalities and manipulative ways, and despite it she believes everything they say... no wonder they treat her the way they do - its because she allows them too.
