I too think this story is about Dev and Ishwari and perhaps even a reflection of mother-son duo in society.

Their love was their down fall. Their faith in each others ability to read their mind, know their heart turned out to be an illusion.

This story highlights a saying in Tamil which translates to "Even if they are mother and child, their mouth and stomach are different".

While Ishwari being the mother had an upper hand showed some dominance and demand, Dev being the child showed petulance. The love and trust they had on each other turned them into fearful of each other's actions and motives and in general, insincere to each other.

To understand Sona, Dev and Ishwari don't have to look too far, they only had to look at Neha and Elena. While Neha left her husband because he refused to put her above his mother's needs, Elena stayed on leaving her family at the time of their need. Given they haven't chosen one of Neha or Elena, Dev and Ishwari's inner character is baffling. They seem to want this, that and everything OR they don't quite know what they want!

I can only conclude, how they behave to everyone else is only a reflection of their relationship with each other. So, yes, Sona, the Boses, GKB, Vicky are all side characters.

Ishu is like everything is about my som and everyone comes only after my son.. Even if it means to make her own daughters as secondary, she's just happy to be recognized as Dev's mother whom her son adores and she takes super credit at that.. 😉
Same way she expected her to be the primary and only relationship that Dev will cherish about in his whole life.. Just like her who has given up on every other relationship to maintain her mother-son relationship special she expected him to give up on every other relationship of his. Alas, Dev failed in expectation setting exercise.. 😆 He assumed that he can go around telling everyone that matters to him as the most special person in his life.. 😆 And by saying that he wants to be the most special person in their life forever.. If only he really had been in the same position to share his position with others in his special person list😆

I didn't argue that Dev and Sona's "no" is wrong. I am saying it's harsh to call the child bratty because from her POV, the arrangement can work out and she pushing her parents to listen to her by noticing that on there own, they make a great team.

I also said stated that the parents should never impose on a child to be grateful for them existing in there life. It is a parent's job to stay in a child's life. That was in response to you saying that Sona should tell Soha to be grateful that she has parents.

Thank you. But of course, Soha is smart and she is using her intellect to manipulate her parents in a situation she wants them to be. But what Dev said was also true and correct. Will Soha like to see her parents unhappy and constantly arguing just so she can have both of them forcefully tied together?

Soha didn't answer that question and instead stated her ultimatum. But just because a child is demanding without knowing the consequences based on a tiny sample of watching her parents together, doesn't mean the parents can stop using their brain.

Dev and Sona can't live as a roommate and co-parent until Soha is an adult. So they have to remarry or live together. However, in that situation, two people are not only parents, they are also husband and wife for which they are incompatible. And even if they happen to sacrifice their life for Soha and spend the next decade unhappy and at loggerheads, what happens when Soha grows up and start living her life? What will super glue them then? In the meanwhile, they'd have wasted years when they both could have been happy and now will spend the rest of their life unhappy as well.

You are assuming that if Dev and Sona live separately they won't team up for Soha while if they are forced into a situation neither of them want, they will suddenly become compatible and definitely team up. But when in reality, the unhappiness will lead to bitterness and bitterness will lead to fights and fights will lead to even less cooperation or teaming up for their child.

Dev and Sona can love each other until eternity but they are fundamentally incompatible. Loving from a distance or dating for a short time or even sleeping together due to physical attraction are different from living a life in daily basis as they both found out. Their so called epic love could not even last more than one festival season. They spent more time arguing than they spent in love with each other.

Even if we remove all family, Dev's tendency to lie won't change, his tendency to never keep his promises won't change, Sona's frustration regarding his temporary solutions won't change, she won't suddenly start to trust him despite all the previous lies. Then?

Then they will be stuck in a toxic situation due to Soha. Soha is now 6 years old. So she is day dreaming based on the caring Dev and less argumentative Sona she saw. But she didn't see what goes on behind her back.

When she is a grown up, she will understand the more complex situations. But even then no child has the right to dictate her adult parents life just like no parents have the rights to dictate their adult children's life.

Now, I know it's hard to understand the problem in this situation. But what if at the end of Dev's stay, Soha decides that she doesn't like how her parents argue together and wants her mother to marry Jatin instead? Would you say that since Soha didn't ask to be born and it was her parents's decision, she gets to decide whom Sonakshi should live with?

No, right? The reason this is not looking unnatural is because Soha wants what most people here wants - Dev and Sona to get back together. But trust me. Children giving ultimatum to parents are not normal. Minor children don't get a choice to not live with any parent.

In my opinion, they should be together when they both want to because they can't live without each other after realizing their mistakes and rectifying them. Not because Soha threw a tantrum. And that situation I have not seen yet.
