Chapter Four

Preparations began galore...seemed like Ishwari was more eager to get Dev married to Natasha then Dev himself...after-all what she had been unable to do for the past 15 years Natasha had done it in just 15 minutes...she had managed to draw a crack between the ever-so strong friendship of Dev and Sona...Ishwari had more than happily accepted Natasha with open arms when Dev had got her home to introduce her to his family...wedding date was fixed 6 days later...Dixit house buzzed with relatives and well-wishers...people poured in from all around to bless the would be groom and congratulate his parents...Jay Dixit although not very happy with this alliance became a part of the bandwagon just for the sake of Dev's happiness...but somewhere deep down in his heart he felt bad for Sona who had kept herself away from the wedding...after her fallout with Dev on that fateful night she had not stepped into Dixit Niwas...nor Dev had mentioned anything about her for the past 3 days which was a very strange sight...no-one knew what happened behind the locked door of Dev's room between the two besties...but what all saw was Sona left the house crying profusely while Dev shut himself out from the rest of the world.

Dev was happy in a way...after-all he was getting married to the love of his life...but something inside him was breaking...his Cheeku, his best friend was not a part of this celebration ...he was getting married and she was not around to pull his leg...he cursed his luck as this had always been his fate...life always took away one important relationship from him whenever another made a way in...Natasha on the other hand was jubilant...after-all her hard work had paid off...she was about to get married to one of the richest man of Delhi in a span of 4 days and then she would have no botheration in her life at all...all his wealth would be hers while he would become a puppet of her hands...and his family would soon be chucked out of his life just the perfect way as she had planned...the most exciting fact was that Sona was no more a part of his life...so he had no support of any sort...hence for all his grief's he would have to take her support only.

Today was suppose to be the sangeet of Dev and Natasha...all the arrangements had been done... Natasha dressed herself in a peach colored lehenga choli and tried her best to look mesmerizing as she entered the hallway...Dev had a glint in his eyes on seeing her approach but that regular happiness what his stance held was definitely missing...Dev and Natasha were made to occupy seats up the dais as various people started performing for the would-be couple...when the turn came for Dev and Natasha to perform, Dev plainly refused sighting that he was a bit uneasy...only Jay knew the real reason behind his denial...amongst all the relatives one particular person had been observing Natasha very keenly...he seemed to have some past connection with her...as the function proceeded this person approached Ishwari to have a talk with her...it was none other than her nephew Vicky.

"bua, aap iss ladki ko kabse jaanti hai?...I mean aapne iski chanbeen to ki haina?"...his questions popped a doubt in Ishwari's mind..."haan Vicky aise kyun pooch raha hai...Dev jaanta hai use pichle ek saal se...bohot pyaar karte hai dono ek doosre se...tabhi to Dev ke kehne par turant muhurat nikalwaya shaadi ka...par tu yeh sab kyun pooch raa hai?...tu jaanta hai kya use?"...Vicky by now was sure his doubt was not wrong...he had been skeptical all this while but now was sure that she was the same Natasha he knew..."bohot acche se jaanta hoon bua...infact Delhi ke kisi bhi hotel mein jayengi na aap to koi bhi ise pehchaan lega...aakhir wahi par to padi rehti hai yeh...yehi to pesha hai iska".

"Vicky yeh kya keh raha hai tu?...apni hone waali bhabhi ke baare mein koi aise baat karta hai kya?...ho kya gaya hai tujhe"..."mujhe kuch nahin hua hai bua...sacchai to aap log nahi jaante ho...arrey yeh ladki chand paisoan keliye apna zameer, apni izzat, yahaan tak ki apna shareer tak bech sakti hai...bade bade raieszaadoan keliye escort ka kaam karti hai yeh...ameer ladke phasana...unke saath raatein bitana to shauk hai iska...mere kayi friends ke saath aisa kar chuki hai yeh...meri samajh mein to ye nahin aa raha ki Dev bhai iske jhaanse mein kaise pad gaye?...bua main to kehta hoon ki aap yeh shaadi rok dejiye...yeh ladki Dev bhai ki jindagi barbaad kar degi"...Vicky's words hit Ishwari like a slap as she realized Sona was right all this while.

Ishwari had decided to put an end to this as soon as possible...with a determination to confront her she went to Natasha's place...if only she would be aware that this confrontation would change many lives along with hers too..."arrey mummyji aayiye na...baithiye, kya lengi aap?"... Natasha tried to be extra-formal with her as she knew if she had to gain prominence in that house then she would have to impress the lady of the house..."apne bete ki jindagi waapas lene aayi hoon main yahaan...kitne paise chahiye tumhe...jitna mangogi usse dugne paise milenge...bass mere bete ka peecha chod do"... Natasha was confused as to what had suddenly taken over Ishwari who seemed all hale and hearty a while ago at the function..."aap kya keh rahi hai meri kuch samajh mein nahin aa raha hai...please saaf saaf boliye mummyji"... Natasha still tried to be cool and calm..."par mujhe sab samajh mein aa gaya hai...tum bhi samajh jaogi"...saying so she called out to Vicky who had accompanied her to confront Natasha...as soon as Nats saw Vicky at the threshold of her door she understood that her game was up.

"agar main chahu toh abhi isi waqt tumhein arrest karwa sakti hoon mere bete ko dhoke den eke iljaam mein...par mujhe aisa kuch bhi karne ka koi shauk nahin hai...kyunki aisa karne se humari hi izzat uchali jayegi...isilye yeh cheque le lo aur iss shehar ko chod kar itna dur chali jaao ki Dev chahkar bhi kabhi tumhe dhoond na paye..."... Natasha was scared looking at Ishwari's approach towards her...she felt it was advisable to take the money coming her way and flee away from the place...as Ishwari got up to leave the place something struck her mind which forced her to halt her steps...now that Natasha was going to be out of Dev's life it would smoothly pave way for Sona to enter his life back again...how could she let this happen...after so many efforts Dev had finally chucked Sona out of his life...she couldn't let this misunderstanding die off...a plan suddenly came to her mind as she turned back to face Natasha ..."jaate jaate mera ek kaam karna padega tumhe...bass ek aakhri kaam..."...Ishwari smirked as Natasha and Vicky looked onto her confused.

BACK AT DIXIT NIWAS

Ishwari informed all her relatives about the wedding being called off due to some unavoidable circumstances...she waited for Dev to be back from his office to reveal the truth to him...truth, well actually half truth...manipulated in a way she wanted it to be...Dev came back late at night as he was amazed to find the house quiet as before...it definitely didn't look like a house where a marriage was supposed to take place after 2 days...he looked on as Ishwari approached him with a sad face...handing over a letter which was written for him she caressed his head as if consoling him..."Natasha ne shaadi se inkaar kar diya hai Dev...usne tere liye yeh chitthi chodi hai...aur kahaan hai ki woh dubara tujhse kabhi nahin milegi...aur yeh bhi kahaan hai ki tumne agar usse saccha pyaar kiya hai to dubara use dhoondne ki koshish mat karna...tu ek kaam kar Sona se baat karke dekh...shayad use kuch pata ho...kyunki jab Natasha se milne main uske ghar gayi thi to maine wahaan Sona ko dekha tha"...Dev felt his eyes moistening... Natasha had been so excited to get married to him all this while and now all of a sudden she had called off the marriage...she didn't even feel the need to talk to him for one last time before leaving him shattered...with a heavy heart he left for his room as he didn't want to cry in-front of his family members.

Locking his room door he collapsed on the floor as he opened the letter to read what Natasha had to say to him...tears vanished from his eyes and rage took over him as he read the contents of the letter...instead of shedding tears he was now hell bent on seeking revenge...getting up enraged he walked out of the house as Jay tried to stop him but Ishwari looked on contented as she was sure the spark she had lit had ignited in a correct way...driving like a maniac he stopped his car infront of Sona's house...taking quick strides he reached her house as he saw Bijoy and Asha, Sona's parents sitting in the living room sipping their evening tea...approaching them calmly he seeked their blessings..."Sona kahaan hai uncle...usse bohot jaroori baat karni thi"...Dev tried to maintain his demeanor...his insides boiling up with rage..."upar apne kamre mein hai beta...jaa jaakar karle baat apni dost se...pata nahin kya hua hai use...chup chap si rehne lagi hai...tum dono ka koi jhagda hua hai kya?"...asked a concerned Bijoy..."bass ek choti si misunderstanding hui thi uncle ...par ab sab saaf ho chukka hai...main yahaan aya hoon to saari baatein clear karke hi jaunga ".

Dev got up and moved towards Sona's room upstairs...Sona was sitting at the window all sad and lost...he got inside and locked the door behind him as the letter in his hands went flying off to Sona's face...shocked she looked on for support to her bestie as he stood there glaring angrily at her with her blood shot eyes...amused she read the letter Dev had thrown at her as she felt the land beneath her feet disappear.
