Where is the question of newborn babies left at the hands of nanny or father? MOST working moms get at least a few weeks of maternity leave so newborn babies can be breastfed and cared for by mom

Its only when maternity leave is over and mom returns to work, then either nanny or daycare or a stay at home daddy takes care of the baby.

Fathers dont get postpartum depression. They dont give birth, their hormones dont go into overdrive and get messed up like new mothers' do.

In some cases, little kids are closer to their grandmas than to the mom for some reason. I was very attached to my Dida (grandma) till I was abt 5.

Fathers can be trained to look after babies, not newborns maybe...but 2 months and older babies can be handled quite well by dads for a few hours.

If a mother dies at childbirth then what happens? Either father, or nanny or grandma cares for the baby...and the baby gets attached to that person only. Babies respond to love and caring, not to the gender of the parent or the relationship.

You mean PPND. Parental post natal depression. Because partum actually means the act of birthing. Post Partum Depression usually on the hormones associated with gestation and birthing.

Men do have depression to after a baby is born. But its not post partum. It isn't related to the gestation hormones. But other physiological and psychological factors. People refer to it as postpartum depression, but it is a misnomer.

It is a pet peeve of mine when people call the father's depression postpartum depression. It is like saying a vasectomy is just male hysterectomy. There is significant medical and biological difference. Just because the general population is not aware of it does not make the misnomer factually or medically correct.

The problem I think came with using words like puppy for a child. Is Mira such an idiot that she cannot fathom economic realities ? She is educated, articulate, can dress really well. Unless she is totally sociopathic it is basic lack of empathy. You don't have to live someone's life to empathize. Not everyone is a child bride to a movie star.

I have to say this is pretty much it.
Just this morning someone was telling me how their maid was sending her 4 year old child back to the North East to her parents because both the husband and wife were working till 7 in the night. I am sure given a choice, this woman would like to be with her child at all times but when you are working hard to even give your child a good education, all this becomes just idealistic talk. I don't think being a housewife or a career woman is right or wrong or vice-versa but rather what works for one person might not work for the other, it is as simple as that. What women really need is to be kinder and more empathetic to other women, whether you are a housewife or a career-woman. Your choice does not make you a paragon of virtue nor a harridan of the first order and we need to stop putting ourselves on pedestals for making choices we deem right from our world view.
