Hopefully Vidya is back with this film...the industry is def suffering from a drought of good actresses, films that have a substance...and women oriented...

It might be a very good movie. But I suppose, it is quite dark (from the people who have seen the Bengali version). I doubt it's commercial success.

it is actually set in the time of partition, but no, you will not see riots or religious tensions but rather society vs individuals specially women. its about your country getting independence and you losing yours. there are layers to it, several understandings, and a fight between your freedom and politics that rules the land.

these people had nothing to do with partition, nor did they want it, but they will be forced to conform to what they feel is dictatorship(i.e democracy has changed to dictatorship when it came to them just because they are women who think men's lust should not be allowed to dicate over them, if they cant stop it , might as well commercialise it and use it as a source of power )...

and the image used is a house, rather a brothel house, and the line of partition runs right through it,

it will be a brilliant film if they can make it like the original... it is one of the best films of their careers.

and this film has many padmavati references..infact begum jaan ends her life the way padmavati ended her life..thats why its written ki even if she was a wh**e,she fought for her pride as padmavati did..its a heartbreaking film..made me cry which is a difficult task...rituparna was aweinspiring and definitely not overrated as somebody said on this forum and I am saying this as someone who is not really appreciative of her..
some scenes are outright brutal and spinechilling...i doubt whether they will keep those scenes...

thats why its written ki even if she was a wh**e,: they just chose not to be victims of men's lust anymore, if men fall weak to their lust then we will take advantage of it, we will commercialise it and hold power over them. we wont sit at homes and fields working like a manual slave for 15 hours plus tolerating psychological and verbal abuses and then be sex slaves for the 10 hours at night and then watch being sidelined over a younger girl's body...if we have to be sex slaves we will be for the 24 hours and have them at our mercy, by our rules. my body my rules.
society is not used to see such reactions and labels them wh**eS. this is also one of the messages in the film.

not overrated as somebody said on this forum and I am saying this as someone who is not really appreciative of her..: I have never liked her too, and she does over act but in this film she was phenomenal. I have watched the film and can vouch for it, but if someone doesn't understand it, then that cannot be helped. it is easier to educate people about social evils rather than fight with trolls who are ignorant themselves.

This is an intriguing poster and tag line. I would love if Vidya gets a commercial success with this movie.
