And which episode bc many episodes over the last 2 years have been 🤪

I don't know, it may sound SO trivial (😕) but it was on the 3rd of Dec last year and IshRa were in the midst of *ahem *ahem 😳 and the 'then' ACP calls Ishita and she walks off with total disregard for Raman. Like for real?

That was the final nail in the coffin for me

Before that, I had reached saturation point at the time of Shagun's re entry in Mumbai. Yet, I'd continued to watch despite the odds.

Ahhh I totally forgot about that. But then even in episodes of YHM FF and mute go a long way.

idk it's a sucky situation to be in and blame is within all (and no where do I want to absolve myself rather try to find a balance between crap and modernism), and I don't see anything changing which means either quit Indian TV fully and just stick with my American shows or risk getting super invested with a new promising show that is started. 🤔

but then in the near future, you will also apparently be able to buy an ap by EK/BT with a bunch of currently reported as modern, progressive shows...

Pretty much valid for every tv industry anywhere in the world. K-dramas, Turkish dramas , Pak dramas , English shows- cinematography, direction, presentation, packaging varies and Indian shows go on for months/years and are daily feed. Otherwise pathos , structurally stories are all similar. Heck Shonda is nothing but another Ekta.

Unless the tv programming changes to weekly broadcast and shows go for pilot system or are reviewed for renewals periodically, it won't change.

Unfairly everyone blames the "trp audience" when every viewer post a show's shelf life is in it for the "actors" or the community feeling of a show rather than story .

Ekta is not wrong in selling out the shit , she does. It sells , normal and she knows everyone will lap it because of actor loyalty.

Vamp is given skimpy clothes and always is the story of her shows because good vs bad. FLs are superwoman and male - bark/fight/smolder/mute.

Beyond a point the actors ham to all their glory and none of them really care for the show/story or character. I bet 90% won't even have a clue about the role they play.

How many of the sensible audience on the internet watch POW , by no means a perfect show but it is the only one which has prime central female characters with nuances and sensible. Yet the internet audience would be more active and vocal for shows which are regressive shit- YHM, IB , Kumkum etc .

Forget trp aunties, I wonder about sns calculator or comparison- internet audience laps up the shitty shows more than anything.

@bold - I agree & don't care for Grey's or any of her shows, but have you seen how Shonda touches on certain sensitive issues versus EK? It's not about showing issues, but it's about the conclusions you draw from it. Therein lies the difference between the two for me. No one is arguing that the entertainment industry isn't a money making machine - every industry is even healthcare.

But it's to what degree we consumers accept crap and what degree of social responsibility is taken by the producers. Like for all the sex and cheating Friends showed...look how they managed Monica's inability to get pregnant. It was sensitive.

So like you said - it's a systems flaw. The viewers are used to never ending shows, makers will produce it with the same disregard for basic morality because they don't have a story...so even if they want to make better shows the system won't support it.

I don't think though you can absolve EK or any of these writers or channels as they are equally to blame as the viewers. No one has a sense of moral responsibility to anyone. Just because people watch and support doesn't make it right or ethical.

As for POW - I'm happy to hear it's a good show but like many here say stopping watching is the only way to make change - I cut out Indian TV outside of YHM so why take the risk on what's a good show in it's inception?

@ Krishy
We can sit here having endless debates on what's dished out to us but in the deepest corner of our hearts we know we follow this show despite how ever much they've ruined IshRa; we do watch for them and our lollipops. Therefore, we put all logic at the backseat and enjoy the ride if also only for a few minutes!

@krishy -i can understand ur fear of getting attached to another show and if that show goes downhill too.it's human nature afterall.
And honestly i don't have an answer to this question.
I try not getting attached to any show.Like presently i watch KRPKAB, YHM,Ishqbaaz, PMHMD,POW and judge the show on the basis of the content they give without getting attached bt still its human nature afterall to get attached.

bt still i am miffed at how good shows don't do well on trp race or online also. If we don't give good shows a chance to shine, how can we expect good shows. Both are at fault -the makers and the audience. TV needs a big revolution.

As of P.O.W., you can actually give the show a chance coz its 126 episodes finite tv show. So, it wl be more like story telling.

What do people enjoy seeing jerk monster men who can't do anything but screw up, torturing saasumas, creepy and sexually open vamps, and crying, oppressed yet positive women? 🤢

The reason for all this is primarily the escapist nature of the tv viewing audience. In my experience, people just need a console to distract their mind from the day to day stress they face!

People can vehemently oppose the content by focussing on shows with stronger content but they are happy with the mediocre so change is a long way.

If only someone had the audacity to pull off air these regressive shows and just begin a new line-up of progressive shows would we be able to see any fruitful result. Otherwise, nothing is changing!

If CVs had dared to deliver YHM the way they did at the 11 PM slot; that would have been revolutionary for Indian Television!
