Shahid Kapoor - a mega superstar according to this forum.

Vishal Bhardwarj is a critical acclaimed director (has had many flops)

Saif Ali Khan - As Desigirl and Mrs.Khan have touted many times that his audience base is urban blah blah crap...

so blame a terrible film like Rangoon on one person? where is the script writer? the director? the marketing personnel?

Problem with this movie which I faced also was the theme...

I think people did not like the concept of British era..with Saif Khan doing role of boot polisher, kanagana trying hard to be English maam and Shahid Kapoor taking the role of desi frustrated lover. The setting did not appeal to young people. Also did not appeal to maybe masses. Then songs were flop as well..specially bloody hell.

Movie need to appeal in ad

I had full intention of watching something..as i am bored on weekends but the ad was so terrible i just did not go even in free time

The blame goes to idea of the movie..it did not sell. It should not go on anyone

Well they expect her to handle all departments flawlessly besides acting and also have enough stardom to pull in audience to see the niche VB drama and sustain it until Sunday night (with big numbers) before it crashes after the weekend like some of the infamous biggies I won't bother even mentioning.

She disappointed on ALL those peripheral fronts. Hence she is the scapegoat. 🤓

Who cares if she got rave reviews for playing Julia! That's so 2014.

For me the fact that she promoted this movie so much.. she made so many ridicules statements, from talking about HR to getting her ass whipped.. she did it all

It was just annoying seeing her stoop to such levels. ridiculous...

Because she always makes an ass of herself during promotions by making tall claims and boasting about her success and starpower to end up falling flat on her face. Some humility and dignified silence could help her in these situations.

OMG I forgot about the ass whipping promotional stunt. It's amazing how Kangana is given a pass on things other actresses are torn apart for. I guess the perks of being a 3-time National Award winner?

She boasts about her starpower constantly but when she fails to deliver and gives a disaster at the BO, every excuse in the book is pulled out for her.

She was the hero of the movie so of course!

Jokes aside, from what I've been reading (haven't seen it yet), its not the performances of the actors that sucked, it was more the storyline, WOM makes a huge difference and this movie surely does not have it. Though all 3 of the actors (which I personally believe have done great jobs in previous films)+ director don't have much fan pull to be honest.

Kangana unfortunately made some eyebrow raising statements that may have annoyed some people enough to stay at home. But I agree that she is not the only reason it failed and it's super unfair that some saying she is the reason. Shahid, Vishal and Saif box records are full of flops and averages, fans and people here can say what they want but that's the reality of it, they are just not pulling in audiences as much as they need to. So that can also be to blame.
