*A fresh pairing is more intriguing*
We saw him share the screen with the most beautiful ladies of the industry. But it seems that Shahrukh loves to repeat his pairing. And so, the following listing shows just that, the number of time he repeated each of them:
- 7 movies: Kajol (though I never get tired to see them together; I, actually, think they should do more movies), Juhi, Rani
- 6 movies: Madhuri
- 4 movies: Preity
- 3 movies: Deepika (twice two years in a row!), Anushka, Manisha, Aishwarya
- 2 movies: Priyanka, Karishma, Kareena, Divya, Deepa, Raveena
It can be nice for the fans of said couple but it can get tiring to others. Lastly people liked seeing him with new ladies be it Mahira or Alia so Shahrukh should keep the momentum and try acting opposite actresses he's never worked with. The industry doesn't lack talented and beautiful women (Vidya, Kangana, Sonam, Sonakshi...)
I do believe a new fresh pairing will bring in some excitement to the audience, especially if an A-lister is casted opposite him.
This one of the reasons why I don't want Deepika to be in the movie, they only did 3 movies together but it feels like all they did the previous years was to work together! š
It wouldn't be a great loss for Deepika anyways, she's already busy trying her hand at international cinema (XXX and a indo-chinese rom-com).
Katrina could still be the alternative option... but come ooon!
*If it didn't work out the first time... chances are it won't work out the second time around*
Shahrukh is known as the romantic hero, the most charming actor to have graced Bollywood silver screen yet, in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, he couldn't romance Katrina properly!
Shahrukh's legendary charm left her... frozen... wooden...
Ms Kaif couldn't seem to be able to emote to act which ended up shattering the common belief that Shahrukh could even romance a tree and leave it blushing if he wanted to.
I know that poor Katrina is in a fix regarding her career as her 3 last movies underperformed at the box office. But the thing is, that she STILL couldn't impress with her acting which after almost 15 years in the industry is not acceptable. She had the time to take courses for her dancing but not for her acting?!? š²
If the role requires actinc, then I feel Katrina should back down and not ruin the audience's experience. If she's not willing to act through the movie, then people might not be willing to pay to watch this slaughter. Her 2 previous flops were proofs enough of this.
If not Deepika or Katrina, then who? Well... Sonam! āļøāļøāļø
*Why change a winning formula?*
Sonam and Anand L. Rai have previously worked together in the very good Raanjhanaa. Sonam said it herself recently, Raanjhanaa was a benchmark in her career. Anand L. Rai trusted her and offered her the part of Zoya, a character who has multiple shades and can do wrong to others to have what she feels is right for her. She gave a powerful performance and even received her first Best Actress nomination at the Filmfare Awards.
Time and again, we have been able to witness the actress and the director's closeness be it through interviews or on Twitter. Wasn't it cute when Anand handed her the Best Actress Critic Award for her role in the beautiful Neerja at the Filmfare Award?
So, I say, why should one change a winning team? Sonam and Anand work well together, Shahrukh is a terrific actor and the premise of the movie seems interesting. If rumors are true and Anand does want Sonam on board, I would recommend to the producer to let it happen because it's all about the director's vision. About who he envisions in the role and how he envisions the movie unfolding.
If the movie succeeds it'll be the team's success and if it fails, it'll be the team's failure but at least they'll be proud of the movie.
*On the road to success and beyond!*
There is talks of Alia and Anushka of Kangana and Deepika who ARE successful and talented, but there is also Sonam.
Sonam who despite some setbacks in her career chose to do the movies she wanted to. Between Aisha and Raanjhanaa, Dolly Ki Doli and Neerja, Delhi 6, Khoobsurat and others, she managed to become one of the few actresses who solely chose to do movies in which had meaningful whatever the length.
And it did pay off, those who doubted her talent, could only witness her growth as an actress in Neerja where she not only played the character but embodied it.
She already has 3 movies, very different from one another, lined up:
- R. Balki's Padman with Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte which will be a romanticized account of Arunachalam Muruganantha, a man who invented cheap sanitary napkins.
- Shashanka Ghosh's Veery Di Wedding with Kareena Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania a movie about four friends going on a road-trip as one of them is soon to get married.
- Rajkumar Hirani's Dutt with Ranbir Kapoor and Manisha Koirala which is a biopic retracing Sanjay Dutt's life and struggles.
I do hope she'll keep them coming and that ALR's next will be one of them
Sonam is on a high and it'll be a pity for the ALR/SRK's team to do without her as I feel she'll be a great addition. šš¼
