I agree with all you guys.
Om's transition to the extent he destroys her shop was just beyond *poof*

There's a reason why Om fans are Om fans and not Shivika fans. Omkara was liked for his unique character, what a waste of such a character and turning him into an MCP. Gauri is just an extension of Anika's character and Rikara story is the louder version of Shivika story. If Gul thinks that she can fool the viewers by showing the same copy paste story then she is doing a big mistake.

Now I doubt that Rumya will get proper SS in DBO either unless they are turned into Shivika version 3.0. I've no trust in Gul.

I have yet to learn about expectation I guess. GK cannot think beyond her typical style and I should embed that into my brain.
Contrary to your view I did like Shivika , I think mostly because of NaRbhi as they are amazing. I liked Anika's spunk in the beginning. She gave it as she got it which was a plus compared to her predecessors Geet and Khushi ( did not watch QH so can't comment on Zoya). But I did not want a second version of her as Omkara's lead.
Is it necessary that Anika's sister be as tortured as her? She could have been taken into a different family and raised well. That would have made for an interesting conflict of thoughts once they met.
I think if we simply switch of our logic buttons we can watch the show. The show is spectacular without doubt. But most of us here cannot digest nonsense

I agree that the execution was somewhat botched. These writers can't seem to balance what they created in IB and just carry it across and continue it here. Expect some Rudra discrepancies also soon.

First of all, I felt a huge pit in my stomach watching Om yesterday. He was my fav from the get go of IB. But the characterization weakened as time went, but still the fondness is there.
I think this is the pilot episode syndrome.

Even now, if you go back and watch all of GK shows at the start, the first week is like a flat movie poster designed to just do extreme bravado and gimmicks, just to create like wax statues of all the characters to introduce them.

then the actual writing team and other directors come in, and the 3rd dimension pops out and it makes more sense. It will improve. I never enjoyed pilots, too much hype and expectations.

The start of IB (and here too in DBO) was weird, FL dancing randomly and ML doing tashan with a flat instantly unlikeable face. Then the secondary characters come in and it improves.

Kali Thakur is quite a sight and is chilling though, very menacing voice. Other villains come across as overly mean, senseless and cringeworthy.

I wished they had started with an ObBros moment, since this is called Dil Boley Oberoi, and the brothers are very endearing and give good vibes. The way Om rolled his eyes at Shivaay was just bleh for me, given that he was sent by Shivaay only. Characterization fail.

And then he touches Thakurain Jhanvi's feet, remembering his mother. And his purpose returns. But the arrogance is so uncharacteristic. But what's happening here, is that Omkara actually has a scary villain/ gunda, while his brother has to deal with vamps in Mumbai.

From the moment, the episode started till it ended, believe me or not I was ranting about how they have ruined my Omkara... I know his mother's suicide attempt had changed him.. But is it possible for him to change so much that he doesn't even respect women !!! His mother is a woman, right..
I hated the precap.. Throwing money at Gauri..

Gul Khan proves with every show that she can do nothing other than showing love-hate stories and bubbly girl - angry young man

Hai
New to this forum, bt a silent reader of ishqbazz forum for Om's character from the very beginning. When they dropped the idea of Ishkara i left following Ishqbazz. Still managed to have an eye on the development of Om's character. Now coming to Dil Bole Oberoi i personally like Shrenu and Omkara and Gauri was something i was waiting. I was a regular follower of IPKKND and Arnav and Khushi and can't believe myself that how much Gul tries to recycle things.
Gauri (full of life and bubbly) is very much like khushi from the start itself don't know how will her character develops.
Gul has made her much unique character of Omkara to another Arnav. I must say he looks more similar to ASR than SSO. Mom's boy Arnav changed to ASR with the Suicide of his mother when his father went for another woman and later to be revealed only as Khushi's mother. Again Khushi was the other woman in his sister's life whom he equates to his mother which made him hate her.
Don't know why Gul has nothing more to tell than just recycling her hit shows. All of her shows do have similarities beyond a limit. Bt i must say Omkara was unique. Infact Ishkara was unique. Ishkara story had a unique depth where the heroine had some grey shades. But they jst dropped that idea.
Just hope Gul does something better and bring back those unique vibes back in to Omkara's character.
