The year 2008 sure started on a 'different' note for Band of Boys member Karan Oberoi.
The all boys' band was performing on the New Year Eve when a male fan walked up to Karan, planted a kiss on his lips and vanished into the crowd again.
In Karan's words, "We believe in having a fun time while performing and towards the end of almost each gig, either all of us jump into the crowd or invite the people on the stage. This show was a well-attended one and we invited people on the stage like always. And out of the crowd, a guy who was quite sloshed walked up to me, planted a kiss, murmured 'I love you' and vanished. I was shocked."
Did the guy actually murmur 'I love you'? "He did. And that happens many times. We as an all-boy band had thought that guys would try to intimidate us but things have worked quite in reverse. We are showered with many 'I love you' from both the sexes. In fact, during concerts, guys tug at out trousers and shout that they love us," says he.
Karan says that getting all this unwanted male attention is worrying him in 2008. Ask him how girlfriend Mona has reacted to the news and he laughs, "I haven't had the audacity to tell her over the phone and we haven't met yet, as she is travelling. But I know one thing for sure, she will be happy. She'll probably thank God that it's not women who are kissing me!" And what was the reaction of his band mates? They haven't stopped laughing. They laughed incessantly and didn't stop even in the flight. After some days, we are off for other concerts and I'm sure I'll be the soft target again."
