They were already having problems it seems but after meeting Shilpa he became obsessed with her and there was no chance of reconciliation

Akshay might've been okay with his woman having careers like interior decorator, column writer etc but not an actress

When Raveena Tandon was at the peak of her career, she took a two yr hiatus at his insistence, then came back to movies after they broke up...

There was also speculation that he wanted Shilpa to quit movies too

Twinkle didn't have much of a BW career or acting dancing talent, charisma etc to begin with.. So quitting BW was not a problem for her.

I think most of the successful actors prefer to marry outsiders but I don't understand why akshay kept dating actresses and end up marrying an actress when he is not happy to have a wife as an actress, he could've marry an outsider like SRK, HR or aamir but I think raveena and shilpa didn't work for him because they probably didn't want to give up their career after marriage and coming to shilpa breaking her husband's first marriage, I think she does have some contribution for wrecking the marriage, otherwise who leaves their wife with a few month old baby, all the marriages have some sort of problem but when somebody enter between them it's hard to save the marriage and shilpa is a gold digger, she was probably running after him despite knowing he was married because it's hard to find another tycoon like him.
