To commemorate 100 years of Indian
Cinema, four directors came together in
2013 to make Bombay Talkies, which was a
combination of four short films. Karan Johar
directed Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh, which was a
love triangle with homosexual undertones.
It starred Rani Mukerji, Randeep Hooda and
Saqib Saleem. Dibakar Banerjee
made Star with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the
lead. It was an adaptation of Satyajit Ray's
short story, Patol Babu. Zoya Akhtar told the
story of a twelve-year-old boy (played by
Naman jain),who is a crazy fan of Katrina
Kaif, through Sheila Ki Jawaani. Anurag
Kashyap helmed Murabba, the story of an
ordinary man, Vijay (played by Vineet Kumar
Singh), who travels to Mumbai to meet
Amitabh Bachchan and feed him homemade
murabba (fruit preserve).
Four years later, the quartet is gearing up to
return with yet another exciting project. Like
Bombay Talkies, the-yet-to-be-titled-project
will also be a compilation of four short films
but it wouldn't be a sequel. Ronnie
Screwvala and Ashi Dua have come forward
to produce the film. This time the theme will
be love and lust. "The quartet has begun
working on ideas for their respective 30-
minute shorts and have zeroed down on a
common theme of love and lust after a lot of
brainstorming. Zoya is currently in talks with
Bhumi Pednekar and Neil Bhoopalam to play
the lead in her short, while others are
presently in the deciding theirs.They will
shoot their films at their own time later this
year and the anthology should release next
year," a source close to the project informed
Mumbai Mirror.
