then why didn't ashwin tell vandana that secret? he only told her that maya attacked him wen she was nine, and that wasn't enough to convince arjun to break off the marriage, so if this other secret is so bad then why didn't he tell vandana?

There's more to it, but day by day my expectations are lowering and I don't expect it to be one big revelation anymore. It has something to do with the 20-25 year imprisonment sentence.

Now coming to the murder (if it is one), there can be 101 scenario's in which it took place. It could be in self-defense or could be while saving Jhanvi from someone. It could be accidental, unintentional. It could be in an inebriated state. It could even be that she herself didn't commit it but was framed and made to believe that she did it.

I strongly feel that it has something to do with Maya's grandfather. Maybe Ashwin murdered Maya's grandfather to take his wealth but before that Maya's grandfather transferred all his wealth in the name of his grandchild (Maya), hence, the hatred towards Maya. So he framed Maya in it and made her believe that she did it, to take control over her. As far as I remember Maya did say that it all started when she was 9, though Ashwin hated her even before she was born, and in the flashback also a 9 year old Maya was seen being tortured or stabbing Ashwin. Also while Saanjh was finding about Maya's past, the insurance agent and the doctor all said that she is under treatment since the age of 9, that also indicates whatever happened to her at that age left her traumatized. Also, she told Jhanvi that no one will love her sach, that means she feels guilty for doing that. And Jhanvi again and again telling Maya to tell the truth to Arjun and that if he loves her truly he will understand her means that Jhanvi knows whatever Maya did was not intentional.
