"What's special about this day? Aaj hai kya? Friday?" I thought as I brushed my teeth.
"Kuch toh hai aaj...some festival maybe. Hmm.." the thought came into my mind as I looked at the calendar.
"Yaad kyun nahi aa raha! I am sure today is indeed something special, but what?" shaking my head in confusion I continued applying nail polish on my toes.
"Kahin aaj kissika...O BETE KI!!" I yelled and ran back to the bedroom where the girls were sleeping and checked if Maham was there. Fortunately...she was't.
"Wake up girl! Wake up!!" I tried to wake them up, "Arre kumbhkaran ki aulaadon uth jao! How can I, how can we forget what day is today. Arre utho!" I screamed.
"Kya hai Megha? Why are you shouting?" mumbled a sleepy Fatima.
"Yeah, where's the fire?" Chu threw a pillow in my direction.
"Lemme shhlleep...I am DED." said Isha as she pulled the comforter over her head.
"Please wake up. We have to plan, prepare and then present." I shook Jes in an attempt to wake her up.
"Pareshan na kar Meghu, tu bhi so ja jaa kar and let us sleep too." Jes replied.
"Come love you need to rest." Said Bharti.
"Arre mataon uth jao, aaj bohot important din hai." I pleaded.
"What?" Khushi yawned. "Jo bhi ho but please don't shout, my head's aching badly." Came Kamala's voice.
"Bata Meghu what's so important today." Asked Bunny as she adjusted her pillows so she could lean back against the headboard comfortably.
Before I could reply, Palakh came rushing out of the bathroom, "Don't tell me that you people forgot too!" I nodded my head in positive and Palak groaned in response.
"What? Yeh ho kya raha hai? What did we forget?" asked Niki.
"Today's Maham's happy waala bujjay." I answered.
"Achha.." Niki nodded and when she realized what I had actually said, she jumped out of the bed in shock and, "Fhat the Wuck!"
"Sachhi?" Jes asked equally shocked that we had forgot Maham's birthday.
"Are you sure?" asked Chu as she rubbed her eyes and checked something on her cell phone.
"Haan yaar! Today is Maham's birthday. I have the list remember." I said showing the birthday dates list on my cell phone.
"Sabse pehle ek kaam kar de, message this list to us all. Pata chale next we forgot someone else's birthday and aarrgghh.." Khushi wore her slippers and went inside the bathroom.
"Pakka aaj Maham ka birthday hai na?" asked Kamala.
"Arre haan bhai haan!" I replied.
"By the way Maham hai kahan?" Bunny asked.
"You people talking about me?" we turned at the door and saw Maham all dressed up.
"Maham!" we all rushed to hug her and apologize, "Sorry behena we forgot your birthday." Said Jes.
"Waise..today's your birthday no?" I asked Maham and while Maham said "Yes" smilingly, the other girls were looking at me with narrow eyes.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing." They replied in chorus and shifted attention back at Maham.
"We are really sorry Maham that we forgot your birthday and couldn't do something special for you." Kamala apologized.
"Arre! Koi baat nahi. Next time achhe se surprise plan kar lena. Ab chalo taiyaar ho jao, we are going to my favourite restaurant for breakfast. My treat."
"Happy birthday once again Mahu. Love you sweetheart."
