Aandhi - Suchitra Sen. Not bowing down to the limited roles a woman was supposed to play, stepping out of it by protesting against the small-minded husband and winning it.

Astitva - Deciding to drop the useless family for their hypocrisy despite being almost at the end of one's life.

Queen - Very relatable who finally finds her way to the liberty and freedom.

Lajja Mahima's character - Standout one rejecting the jerk right at the mandap.

DLKH - Of course !! Outstanding !

Neerja - Heart-touching !

Many more.

Smith Patil was just 21 when she played that role, she displayed great maturity, she always chose roles highlighting women's plight in our society and was an outspoken feminist...
I don't think she talked about herself constantly - about her getting low pay - but about real women's real suffering(Although in real life she married a married man)

I just read about Hanska Wadkar, she was something else... She was such a rebel... I cannot believe she wrote such an honest autobiography in 1970, today even heroes write only about their father's affairs, while whitewashing their own😊

Surprisingly many feminist marry married man. I was reading about Mary Wollencraft. Both she and her mom (famous feminist) had affair with/married much married man. I want to read "Sangthe Aika". I have watched Hansa wadkar's movies. The woman was something. Till 90's and early 2000, people could afford to be honest. Social media has made people cautious and liars. In honesty nobody can affoed to show guts now. Everyone is hiding.

Preity Zinta in Lakshya..One of the most progressive per me though quite under-rated. First of all you never understand why an intelligent girl like her is liking someone like HR's character but she makes it clear she loves the guy for his decency. She doesnt de-motivate him when he goes for something like Army. She doesnt say think about our marriage, relationship and future. She just supports him. But the time he is not able to respect himself, she calls it quit. She is mature enough not to obsess about him or crib about the breakup rather moves on and focuses on her career, very genuinely.

She tries to re-reconcile later when the guy understands his value and makes up for his blunders but seeing him no more interested, she again takes a bold step for herself to get over him and get engaged because she knows the other guy respects her. But when she realizes that the new relationship curbs her independence she is strong enough to call that wedding off and pursue her passion. I think HR and Preity in Lakshay were such a relatable n real couple. They never pin for each other, never stalk, never emotionally black-mail each other yet bring out the best in each other.
