I saw Bhumika just few days and I was struck by how progressive Hansa Wadkar was to write about her colorful life. Her struggle to find herself, to find love and most importantly not bow to tradition or even fame.

Which in your opinion has one of the most progressive female character in movie?

Yes progressive female roles, female centric movies are not new in BW
Kangana didn't invent them despite what she says, neither did Vidya 😊

Dum Laga ke Haisa protagonist.

She had enough courage to go for a divorce and she stood up for herself. It was simple story with simple background.and very progressive.

Agree about Seeta Geeta, Hema played strong women roles in other movies too, women who kick b*tt literally and figuratively, very convincingly

Naseeb was another movie where she rode a bike and fought goondas. Hema Malini was gud in those roles

Queen's Rani...how by the end she had transformed into what she had, from putting up with any shit rajkummar's character threw at her to returning his ring to him because she had realized that she didn't need marriage to be happy...in a way,he helped her in this realization/independence...so she thanked him and walked out of his house...and that small walk just before the end had such vibe of genuine freedom about it...I felt so happy and weirdly overwhelmed that this girl whose younger brother acted as a bodyguard for her had reached this stage in life.
