True. if one can find a guru, he/she can resume learning about it, or start from scratch. I had attempted to learn for a few months. But unfortunately, he used to keep unwell and I was not serious then. After sometime he just stopped going anywhere due to his health and many basic concepts of taal are still not clear with me. Now, even if I try, to find any guru is very difficult.

I can understand that.
I think that's one of the downfalls of living abroad.
I'd really like my children to learn Indian classical music or dance (whatever they prefer), but where I live, it'll only remain a dream.

I took 2 years training in classical. Got a surgery and cannot sing anymore. But that's OK as I always considered it as a hobby and used to watch singing reality shows until they spoiled the show with mediocre singers with some TV soap kind of backstories or useless judges bickerings and staged walk out drama and pukeworthy fake showmances. Almost all shows concentrated on everything other than singing and that's why most of the winners. faded into oblivion pretty soon. I do agree that this time Idol got a very good lot and they did eliminate properly so far. But now voting starts and again regionalism, castism will come in picture. Anyway the top 8 is really good, so I won't be disappointed if anyone wins from this lot. I know some of them are sticking only to their genres, but as long as they do justice to it then fine. I detest crowning a "versatile" singer even if he is mediocre. Better be a master of one trade rather than be a sub-par Jack of all trades.
Hope we get the best winner this time
