Arnav Singh Raizada.

The man whose heart she had trampled upon two years ago. The memories of that day were pricking her as she tried to compare the college boy whom she had last seen two years and the man who was standing before her.

The owner of the heart which she had ruthlessly broken was romantic boy, taking upon the responsibilities of a husband but the one standing in front of her, though similar, was a man who took upon more responsibilities than he should and destroying whom was the responsibility of the time. He appeared to have aged beyond two years, both physically and mentally.

"Mister, no personal questions, please. Miss Gupta would be taking one last question before we leave for the next," said Manisha, Khushi's manager who was trying to control the damage. Being a veteran, she knew that Khushi's silence would be considered as implied 'yes' and there would be several rumors regarding the same.

"Can you please answer his question, Ma'am?" asked one of the reporters, looking for juicy gossip while the others joined in to demand. Realizing that the situation was slipping out of hand, Manisha announced that Khushi would not be taking any more questions and guided her through the exit.

Silent yet turbulent, Khushi's eyes never left the image of Arnav. Many questions posed themselves in her mind but she was in no position to answer them. She wanted to meet him and talk to him but with media around, it would prove to be harmful for both of them. It would cause unnecessary publicity to Arnav and she would be tormented by media's questions.

Just as she was about to ascend her car, a familiar tingling sensation roused her senses and her breaths staggered.

"Ma'am, can I speak to you for a minute?" asked a voice, familiar to her yet distant from her. The voice which held compassion and ardor for her sounded formal. She shut her eyes momentarily as she tried to stop the tears ready to flow from her eyes and console herself.

"I am sorry but Khushi's schedule is packed. You can contact me next time if you need an appointment," said Manisha, thinking that he wanted to probe her further.

"Manisha, it's fine. We can afford to go a minute late," retorted Khushi as she looked straight into Arnav's eyes. The eyes which once dilated with pleasure for her seemed to have dilated with anger. His gaze, as intense as ever, pierced her like no dagger can.

Arnav was the first one to break the passionate embrace of their gazes. He turned and signed her to follow him with a demeanor which shocked her. There was no hint of wamrth in his features and his actions. She wondered what could have been the reason behind his request to speak to her.

"Arnav," she began as they reached a secluded room. Their last confrontation was in front of their families and they never got a chance to speak in private till that very moment. She wondered of the various possible topics he would want to discuss with her.

"I hope that I am not wasting your time. I promise I would not be wasting much of it and would pay for every single second I have stolen from your precious schedule," he mocked, shards of his words piercing her just as where he had wanted and how he had wanted.

The man in front of her eyes was once a lover who was second to none when it came to showing his affection towards her and now it would seem to anyone that he would leave everyone behind in taunting and goading her into crying.

"It's nothing like that. It's just that Manisha was a bit worked out that we had to reach our next location for press conference on time that she told you off. How can I help you, Arnav?" she asked, her eyes searching for signs of warmth in his orbs which seemed like frosted brown to her.

"I would request you to accompany me to Lucknow, Ma'am. Although I am well aware that you would not care to give a damn about love, my mother has been really sick and she has requested your presence for your sister's Godh Bharai ceremony. She feels that you have every right to be present there and craves for you, against the better judgement and as I said, I would pay for every second you spend for her, so it is not a problem, Ma'am. So would you like to oblige us by marking your presence at the ceremony?"

Ma'am?

His cold demeanor hurt her like nothing ever can. However, his sarcasm also seemed to pick at her wrong nerves. Could not he speak without any hint of sarcasm in his speech?

"I'll come," she answered, looking away from him.

"It's on.."he began, only to be cut off by her.

"I know. She's my sister. The only reason I was not going to come was.."

"Was?" he questioned, his eye brow raised in question.

"You. I thought you would not want my presence and hence I decided to skip it. But I'll be there now," she said, reminiscing her talk with Payal. She had been understanding enough to not force her sister to be present at her baby shower.

Arnav seemed to be surprised at her revelation. She thought of him? And he was the reason why she was not going to attend her own sister's baby shower? Just as guilt tried to enter his heart, he erased it by citing her words as acting. She would not care for him, would she?

"Fine then. Here's check for Rs. 60,000. Tell me if it is not enough to buy your time for one hour. And this is a business class ticket for your travel -to and fro. All the arrangements would be made to match your standard. Do not worry," he said, letting his hatred take over him.

"I don't need your money, Arnav. It is my sister's baby shower, I am attending, not someone else'," she argued, her anger levels rising due to his retorts.

He smirked evilly. " Good to see you caring for at least some relationship of your life. Thank you, Ma'am. I'll personally escort you to your airport."

"That won't be required. One of the security personnel will take care of it," she retorted.

"Oh! You don't seem to know, Ma'am. Let me enlighten you. I am your security incharge and hence it is my duty to do it. Don't think I am doing it because I have any feelings for you, because I don't."
