---------------------
Car, Lucknow,

Khushi had snuck out at the middle of the night to ensure that she is not followed or stopped by anyone. Unknown feelings started resonating within her as her eyes met the sight of Arnav Singh Raizada, glistening with the moon light emitted by the full moon. He was dressed up completely in black and completely contrasting to the light he was bathing in.

The saner part of her knew that she was well aware of those feelings fluttering in her but she knew that they were better unrealized and unexplained. Their presence and acknowledgement would only complicate the intricate tangle she was stuck in and steal whatever the minuscule amount of peace she had in her tumultuous life.

Her brain seemed to hurt with the analysis of a person who seemed to forget every emotion. Looking into eyes felt no different than looking at plain ice, which wouldn't melt. His words were curt, to the point and cold.

Arnav never opted for a driver, he loved to drive, she thought as she looked at the driver driving while the man of her thoughts sat in the passenger seat beside him. But she immediately corrected herself. That was the Arnav she knew and the one in front of her was the one, she didn't even recognize.

A throbbing headache pulsed through her forebrain as she clutched it in an attempt to relieve it. Her eyes scrunched up in agony as a slight whimper unconsciously left her lips, attracting Arnav's attention to herself. Although he hated to admit, he felt distant emotion of concern wash over him as he drank in her sight. He signed the driver to stop the car beside a coffee stall.

Na Iss Paar, Na Uss Paar Raha
Najaane Main Kiss Aur Baha
Ek Ajnabi, Anjane Se Kaise Jeevan Ke Saath Judaa

Kiss Do Rahe Pe Dil Aaya, Khel Khel Mein
Rang Gaya Main Tho Rang Kisi Ke Khel Khel Mein

The car screeched to a halt beside a roadside stall. The jerk pulled Khushi out of her stance as she saw Arnav descending down the car towards the coffee stall. She could hear him instructing the coffee maker regarding the proportions of the ingredients to be used. The proportions seemed vaguely familiar as it brought upon several memories.

-------------------------------------
FLASHBACK

Khushi clutched her head as she felt jolts of pain pulsate through her head. Suddenly, the aroma of coffee, filled her senses and she opened her eyes to look at the cup of coffee in front of her, forwarded by her husband, Arnav.

"All this music and dance should have taken a toll on you. Surely enough you needed this as much as I thought so," he said, taking his seat beside her on the intricately carved swing.

She smiled at him as she took the cup and took a sip. It was made exactly according to her taste and the caffeine surely soothed her haywire senses.

"How did you know that I like to take my coffee with mint?" she questioned curiously.

"Now Ms.Gupta, this is nothing. I know everything related to you. Your likes, dislikes and everything. Pyaar Jo Kiya Hai, Nibhaana Tho Padhega Hi," he said, with a teasing smile playing on his lips as eyes him with adoration.

"And who dared to betray my secrets to you?" she questioned with fake anger which she vented on her coffee by gulping the beverage fast.

"Your darling sister and my Bhabhi. Waise, won't you share your secrets with me? Pati Hoon Tumhara," he reminded, leaning towards her passionately.

"Ho Nahi, Hone Wale," she teased, knowing that Arnav would totally argue with her on it.

"Looks like someone forgot their recent lesson. Not a problem. Pleasure would be mine to help them recall," he said as he pulled her against himself as their lips met in a sensuous rendezvous.

FLASHBACK ENDS

----------------------------------------------

She knew that in the two years which had passed, he would have had just hatred in his heart for her but it surprised her that he remembered how she takes her coffee. To think that he still remembers her preferences made him furious for his lack of self-control.

"I hope you don't mind me offering this road-side coffee to you, Ma'am. You must be used to taking your coffees in the lavish coffee shops and extravagant varieties of international origin. This might not be upto your standards," he said, offering the coffee in his hands to her while his words pricked her harshly.

"I don't want. Thanks," she refused, looking away from him, hiding the tears which had begun to form in her eyes.

"Thought so," he mouthed as he threw the coffee on the road without a moment of hesitation or thought.

The spilled coffee reminded Khushi of her own scattered dreams and hopes. The reverie brought upon by the nostalgia of their beautiful moments was brutally broken. She knew she had lost him forever but she wondered why the realization hurt so much if she already knew the truth and knew the consequences of her actions.

Their eyes locked through the mirror. The embrace of amber and hazel, as frenzy and as intense as ever, the only complaint being that unlike the previous times, the embrace did not evoke the feelings of bliss but of mutilating pain.
