JNDSD~ 4TH February 2017~ bolt from the blue!
Our lives revolves around the principles of cause and effect where actions have a bearing on our life thus in turn prompting us to react in some form or shape. How we react, or handle events depends on what transpired in our past, how it is seen presently and the action's future implications. our character, personality, or life experiences too influence the manner in which we react to an action.
Reaction watered down to a mother's cry! To me the episode brims with high drama. Traumatic news is received and the person at the receiving end Suman, Ravish the kidnapped army officer reacts in emotional out bursts . To my mind it's yet another tragedy she undergoes, where she looks for a reason good enough to figure out why her son is kidnappned? Traumatic news, can cause the one effected to go through moments when grief is internalized within one's self and often comes out where the sufferer can question oneself , why do things happen to them? One's grief can isolate them as a result of the magnitude of the cause they face. Hence Suman's reaction when she tells all they can leave she can manage without their, support. In fact to me Suman is more of a victim in a state of shock, where she shows signs of a panic attack. The whole world around seems to get you. Hence the blame game, and the misinterpretation of offered sympathies. In highly charged situations when humans cannot find an answer to the cause of an incident? the reaction can be sharp and overstep the mark of decorum and politeness often resorting to playing the blame game with people closest to them . To me alarmingly as it may seem it is seen by bereavement counseling agencies as the first natural reaction that humans give when they lose a loved one. Suman knowing that her son is a soldier as such cannot blame the army as yet. For she considers largely the issue of patriotism and her sons call of duty .Thus she looks for another person to blame, and Vividha is slapped into place ,her sincere support is seen as mockery by Suman . Vividha is held accountable for Ravish dangerous mishap. Words like her being jinxed and ill auspicious for their household above all her son Ravish are hurled at her. Vividha is blamed for insensitively doing away with the sacred symbols of matrimony which have taken effect into Ravish being held captive not by petty thieves but by terrorists. For me Suman's emotionally unfulfilled life also triggers her present hysteria for she turns on Sujata too! with her taunt that her curses of being Ramakant's secret first wife have now been turned to fall upon her son Ravish. It's one of those situations whereby the bolt from the blue! for a person is so great! that people around are at a loss of giving any kind of support, because the person in shock tends to reject all efforts. Suman's tirade makes me wonder whether she got bereavement counseling after she become a widow? As that wound too may be festering and manifesting itself in this present scenario. As for Sujata she didn't need it as much, for Ramakant's love for her was enough for her survival then and now. The character of the two women also has a bearing on how they react. Suman highly strung in nature , while Sujata staid and calm. Another interesting feature in the episode is the presence of people's strong beliefs in the presence of stars, omens ,and signs..
The thorn in the flesh! for Suman to me can be both Vividha and Sujata, for good reasons as triggered by her blame. It may be Atharv too as he is the other woman's son whom her Ravish married, but his wife thinks of Atharv as her first love. The reaction which culminates in a compassionate hug.. Atharv reaches out for a grieving mother.. I would like to believe that for a split second his arms reminds Suman of the solace and comfort received in the arms of her son Ravish and son Ramakant... but then shock of bad news is so strong that she realizes the blame element rather than the comfort...
The letter.. from Vividha to Suman says it all to Atharv .. he reacts by going by her words she will wash off the blame Suman puts upon her..and only and only return after she finds and brings back Ravish! and fails to see the real cause of the letter.. Atharv reaction is .. the realization that Vividha has made her choice ! its interesting to see he arrives at a moment when he misses out the root cause to Vividha's reaction..locked in a room of guilt! Vividha's reaction to Ravish going missing and responsible and her being held responsible ..is to jump through diplomatic hoops, give the Pakistani ambassador a mouthful regards diplomatic , political bureaucracy and media fanned popular feelings.. and the rest of it on which I refrain from commenting!
Overall an interesting episode that to me deals with how people deal with unexpected trauma .The episode contains fine performances from the actors in the role of Suman, Vividha and Atharv.. I have purposely hovered over the script and scenes covered that for me taint the true essence of JNDSD.. also many pardons this take is a day late as i had personal committments to deal with.. feel free to ignore or skim through it.. hamlet53 5.2.17
