Today's episode quite frankly had me watching with my eyes half closed waiting for it to be over so I could stop cringing. The disappointment I feel at what the makers are showing so insensitively... it is actually very hurtful and damaging. Pakistan and India have enough tension among themselves to show animosity via our TV serials too, and that too using wholly exaggerated and dramatised dialogues.
I am British but my mother and my dad's parents were born in Pakistan, well it was India when my granddad was born. I love the culture, the beauty, the Urdu language and so much more, but the political situation there always saddens me. The fact there are political tensions that have nothing to do with the civilians on the ground, yet when they are spoken of Pakistani people as a whole are dragged into it.

Yes, there are terrorists in Pakistan but they aren't 'bred like grass', and it is not every Pakistani's sole mission to attack India and Indians. In fact, it may come as a surprise to the CVs but people of all faiths openly practice in Pakistan, people are accepting, neighbourly and hospitable. You'd never go hungry in a Pakistani household if you were a traveller walking by! And the majority of Pakistanis actually want to peacefully coexist with India, we want there to be cricket series' against our neighbours, we want to appreciate the art India have to offer just as we want India to be able to appreciate ours (i.e. our music and dramas).

The words used against Pakistan and our people are hurtful and a misrepresentation. Not to mention the stereotypical background music and language that was used in that cringeworthy scene where Vividha wants to speak to the ambassador. We are not perfect, but neither are Indians, both sides have made mistakes and done wrong in this conflict and I am not denying that. But persecuting Pakistani people, targeting Pakistan deliberately all in the name of glorifying an Army Captain who (in the show) has done little to protect his country, is that not wrong?

This show is fiction, and fiction does tend to exaggerate some things and romanticise others, but if the portrayal of terrorism cannot be done sensitively I think it should be avoided altogether. In Pakistan, Pakistanis are the greatest victims of terrorism, schoolkids in some areas live in fear of terror attacks because of what has previously happened. A little bias towards India is fine, but this nationalism that is being forced down us is too much. No land should come above humanity.

I'm sorry for posting such a ranty post on here and I do not mean any offence, I think Vikram performed brilliantly in today's letter scene, but I feel it's important to raise this issue to the makers and make people aware of the fact that what is being shown is inaccurate and wrong. If you want to glorify the Indian army how about actually showing the Captain doing some stuff to save the country rather than just saying big dialogues and needing two defenceless civilians to come and rescue him. Just a thought.

Brilliant!👏 You said it all. I loved whatever you said about Pakistan. Patriotism isn't about mouthing dialogues,it is a part of your spirit. As per me, it would have done a lot of good if this track was handled more sensitively, instead of adding to the existing animosity. Yes, both nations have made mistakes and it is an ardent prayer of many souls in both nations that they may unite and peace prevails. For as one of the writers on our forum pointed out, India and Pakistan are bound together by their soil, history, fight for independence, ancient tales and so much more. But demarcated only by the border.

Spot on, I agree with everything you've said.

I'm a British Pakistani too, but for the sake of "entertainment" purposes i've been able to desensitise myself from getting offended by what we're being shown.

Of course not everyone is going to see it that way though, and like you said, the CVs are not really helping anything, considering the ongoing tensions between these two countries right now.

For Once I Agree With You About Nation And Army @TM
I Mean CVS Are Putting Both Nations And Their Army People In Bad Light. Thats Actually Not Needed! Its So Funny That 2 Civilians Rescuing Army Officer. Is It Some Halwa Or What Ke Jo Dikha Dia We Will Hazam It Araam Se! Kamaal Hai !
If You Wanna Show Something Show In A Positive Light. Dont Put Any Nation Or Their Army In Bad Light. Keep Healthy And Positive. I Think They Have Taken Creative Liberty To Another Heights Which Is Nothing But A Joke!
I Never Want To See Our Army Or Pakistan To Be Put In Bad Light For The Glorification Of Any Character!
Its Freaking Not Acceptable.
Whether We Are ViTharv/RaVidha/Ravish/Atharv/Vividha Fans But Before That We Are The Proud Citizens Of Our Respective Nation..We Would Not Accept Any Stupid Bullshit In Name Of Entertainment!
Seriously CVS You Guys Need To Grow Up!

I agree with all the points you have pointed out, an entire country cannot be generalised like this and that too on national television when there are serious political tensions between the two countries!
I still can't understand why Indian shows were banned in Pak & Pak actors were asked to go from here it's like destroying whatever progress these two countries have made towards each other were destroyed in a second!
Which is why I really love movies like "Bajrangi Bhaijaan"! To be honest growing up watching movies portray terrorism=Pakistan etc I had very little knowledge about Pak as a country & also was prejudiced into thinking that the people were very regressive but Shows like Humsafar & Books like "I am Malala" changed my perspective.

This was a much needed post! The makers really should be sensitive while portraying such things!

Being a pakistani, the constant portrayal of terrorists coming from pakistan like it is the only country to house terrorists is disturbing and highly offensive sometimes!

It's insensitive on the part of the makers to take his matter so lightly like it's no big deal. I don't think they understand the mere impact fiction has on the mindsets of many. If you can't do anything to ease the animosity between the two neighbouring countries, then don't further add to it either.

Disappointed!

Patriotism is rooted in your identity, you feel pride at being from your country which does have its place but not over human life. Since when did Vividha become a hardcore nationalist who would die for her country? India and Pakistan have more similarities than differences, why can we not focus on what unites us and understand that we should not be warring nations?

I have desensitised myself too, overlooked a LOT of stuff, but today really angered me and I couldn't be passive about it any more. It isn't fair on either country and portrays the Indian army as a total joke.
