What r u guys talking about Do u watch the same FG that I do.He has always thanked the public. In last gala they were showing an old clip and Qazi's voice was in the background where he was saying that he would never have been in the top four if the people had not supported him and loved him.sometimes when they announced his name he was so speechless and said that the public has given me so much love that I don't know what to say to them .His eyes and his smile always told us how grateful he is to his fans. The humble person that he is do u think that he will forget even for a moment what his fans have done for him.I don't think so!!

Reality shows revealing a new reailty about Indian audience
By Seema, Mumbai: After making waves among Americans and leaving the audience with mesmerised looks in the West, the popular reality shows have finally arrived in India. Being popularised to promote the best male and female singer out of thousands of candidates, these shows have become a rage among the Indian audience.

In one of such competition, the West Bengal's Rooprekha Banerjee and Kashmir's Qazi Touqueer on Thursday (October 20) won the coveted title of "Fame Jodi"(or, fame couple) after giving a tough fight to fellow competitors in a contest that lasted 16 weeks.

The "Idol" franchise has landed in India, where it has become a huge ratings success for Sony Entertainment Television's Hindi-language service.

This competition comes barely six months after the country witnessed its first reality talent hunt show " Indian Idol".

A beaming Qazi and an equally ecstatic Rooprekha said it was a dream come true. "I am feeling good and it also feels a little odd because of the kind of popularity that I have gained in such a short span of time. I always dreamt of becoming a singer since childhood. In the process of becoming a singer, I have become such a popular figure among the people that feels like an achievement," says Rooprekha.

"It's unbelievable. The way the people have supported me, it's unbelievable. I wanted to become an actor, But now I have become a singer. That's unbelievable. I am so happy and I want to thank all the people,' says Qazi.

Interestingly, the "Indian Idol" and " Fame Gurukul" are exactly the same as its American antecedent "American Idol" and the Spanish reality show "Operacion Triunfo".

Soon after launching a channel service in Germany 12 years ago, Sony Entertainment Television realised it could not take American cookie-cutter content and put it in another country.

After getting richer by a rupees 10 million (222,049.52 dollars) contract with Sony Entertainment Television , a car and not to mention the endorsement money, the young millionaires, however have their heads firmly on their shoulders. They seem to be fully aware of the pressure and trials that come with overnight fame and fortune.

When an estimated half-a-million viewers called in to vote on the last "Fame Gurukul" episode of the season the phone services reportedly came close to meltdown. The casting call attracted hundreds of thousands of hopefuls from every corner of the country to showcase their talents before the judges, which included singers and music directors.

Meanwhile, jubilation swept through the family of Qazi, who rose to fame after being voted as the fame couple.

"I knew it from the beginning that he will win. His confidence has been the same from the beginning and he really improved as a singer by the end of the competition," said Qazi Rafi, Qazi's uncle in Srinagar.

Serials like the Sony's"Fame Gurukul" are bringing the television, which has always been seen as a poorer cousin of cinema, to the forefront. It has also marked the advent of television stardom.

'I've never had a girlfriend'
Qazi Touqeer, 20, from Kashmir
My mother Rukhsana is a government school teacher. My brother Tauseef is studying in class XI. My father M A Qazi was a lawyer and also ran an engineering college. But he gave up everything for Sufism. We live in a joint family.

I was doing my first year BSc [bachelor of science] in Srinagar. I used to play cricket, and my parents spent a lot of money on that. Then, I told them I wanted to be an actor and a singer. They thought I had gone mad!

When I heard about Fame Gurukul, I told my mother that if I don't qualify in the Delhi auditions, I would never go back to Srinagar; I would stay in Delhi. We have a house there. That's the kind of passion I have for acting. I am a performer. Now, I have reached this stage and I'm very happy.

Some day, I hope to be in a movie in which I will sing and act as well. Like Kishore Kumar and Sonu Nigam. Actually, maybe better than Sonu Nigam.

If I don't make it to the Fame Jodi, so what? They will become stars, I will be a superstar!

People love me so much that Javed [Akhtar] saab said that I have a big responsibility on my shoulders. The number of votes that I get is unbelievable. People tell me I have made a record on reality television. I don't feel any pressure. I just want to perform for masti and for the janta. They have brought me here, and I want to perform for them.
But I want to complete my education because in my family, everybody is educated. My father's sister is a bank manager, my aunt is a lecturer, my cousin is a doctor.

I am very naughty. I had nicknamed Sandeep Batra [a contestant who was eliminated in an earlier round] 'Leechi' because he was asking for leechi juice in front of the camera!

There was another occasion when once, the police confronted some friends on the road. I went to the police station and told them that my father was justice so-and-so. They were so scared that they gave me tea and Samosas.

I've watched 27 movies in a month. I saw Veer-Zaara seven times in a week! Then, I started acting like Shah Rukh Khan for days. I am mad about films.

I've never had a girlfriend. But yes, once I had a crush on a girl in Srinagar. I proposed to her but she thought I was a nikamma. I don't have a crush on any girl in the Gurukul, roti ki kasam!

I miss everyone at home -- my father, my mother, my dada, my dadi, everyone. I miss the food, I miss Dal Lake, I miss the cold weather and clean and cold water. I miss my friends. I think Kashmir is paradise.

Mumbai is also good but for the three months we have been here we didn't go out. I won't call it a prison because we are learning something here.

To reach this position has not been easy. But if you are passionate about something, you can do it. I'm speaking for myself. I worship three idols in my life -- Rabindranath Tagore, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan because these people have struggled and come up from the bottom and reached a certain position.

My favourite contestant is Rex. He's everybody's favourite!

and i think its not neccesary tht u use the word "THANKS" to show u r thankful....one can express "thanks" in other words too as Qazi did.....
I just want to perform for masti and for the janta. They have brought me here, and I want to perform for them.
