A woman plays many roles in her lives.
May be that's why in Hinduism, while male Gods have their specific roles to play (Brahma - The Creator, Vishnu - The Nurturer, Maheshwar - The Destroyer etc.), there is only one Goddess who manifests in various forms.
When the Goddess is in homes, she is Laxmi - the Goddess of prosperity.
When she is at an adobe of knowledge - She is Saraswati... (Today is Saraswati Pujo in Bengal by the way)
When she is protecting her disciples from evil - She is Durga, the slayer of evil.
And when she is in battleground - She is Kali, the destroyer.
And of all the Gods Hinduism worships, The Goddess is considered to be the most powerful.
We worship all of her forms - in temple, that is. Then we can't get enough of her strength, power and glory.
At home and in society though, we want her to do exactly the opposite. We tell them to be deaf, dumb and blind and to grow a thick skin so that insults, humiliation and dishonour can't pierce their soul.
If the Asuras in our society attack, we expect the Durgas in our home to turn the other cheek or ignore or walk away and be the goody two shoes who we can then ignore and give a pat on the head for being docile.
In Hindu mythology, there is a saying that - except in extreme situation, do not rouse Goddess Kali. You won't like the consequences.
Now of course, ordinary women are not Goddesses.
But then Neerja Bhanot was an ordinary woman, Indira Nooyi was an ordinary woman, Queen of Jhansi, Rajiya Sultana, Rani Padmini were all ordinary women. Born in the same soil as us, raised in similar environment.
Then what made them extraordinary?
Its courage that every person is born with, but the society makes women forget. Standing up for what is right regardless of who is wrong takes courage. It's not easy. But when did women ever tackled the easiest task?Otherwise, human race would have been extinct by now.
So here's my fair warning to people like Dev, Ishwari, Radha, Vicky - who underestimate women as the weaker sex, just because they appear soft and delicate and oh so forgiving, don't think they are not capable of answering back. Many dynasties had gone extinct over a woman.
If Dev continues to bother Sonakshi, she deserves the right to pay back with same force, same cruelty, same inconsideration. And I will personally cheer for her for giving back answer in a language he understands and not taking any bull lying down.
'90s mein kehte the naa, "Haarke jitnewale ko bazigar kehte hain?" Aur hum sabko pata hain Bazigar ke ending mein Bazigar ka kya haal hua tha.
To gaowalon, this is not '90s era. This is 21st century and in this century, "Jitke haarnewale ko loser kehte hain... Aur apne dam pe jeenewalon ko winner kehte hain."
There is a saying that is often said to a woman, "Well, then what is the difference between him and you?"
Well, first of all hurt feels same to all humans - be it man or a woman.
Secondly, just because someone is quiet, doesn't mean they are not hurting. The only difference is that they are not letting their hurt to hold them back or become a jerk.
Thirdly, the difference is proactive vs. reactive which is the difference between a bully and someone who stands up against a bully.
When someone attacks you, they are to be blamed. But if you fight back, it's not your fault. And I would have said the same, if Sonakshi had attacked first.
Don't like the heat, Dev? Get out of the kitchen. Women tolerate heat much longer than you can as proved by Sonakshi's patience and tolerance level in your home. You, the pampered prince, who was treated like the precious petal over your sisters, won't be able to beat that.
Today's episode proves it.
At work, Sonakshi tells Bijoy that she will come home soon. Bijoy, confident in his knowledge that Sonakshi can take care of herself tells her to work as long as she wants. But Soha asks Sonakshi to come back soon.
Dev strides in Sonakshi's office like psycho lunatic and snatches her phone and says, "Bijoy Bose".
Soha hands over the phone to her grandfather when she heard someone calling his name.
Bijoy takes the phone while in the office, Sonakshi struggles to get her phone back.
In the meanwhile in Dixit mansion, Vicky is upset for losing money. Radha of course spouts venom for Sonakshi (How dare she pay full price and buy what Vicky sold? I mean it's Vicky's fault for selling the share Dev handed over to him and it's Sonakshi's fault for paying full price and buying it)
Golu overhears their conversation and asks why do they hate? What a lovely, healthy atmosphere this child is being raised in.
Truly, Soha is totally deprived of this amazing upbringing. Imagine how well she'd get to hear her mother's praise morning, noon and night if she was raised in Dixit household. She would have grown up to be such an amazing and balanced person.
Dev tells Bijoy that he will make sure his daughter comes back home safe and sound. Sonakshi is mad at Dev. She tells Dev it's none of his business how long she works in her company.
