While, I do agree that he has a point - what you're forgetting is the foundation of his reaction. He's not holding some moral high ground here. He's just being an obnoxious loser. If someone else had won, he'd have still complained about people not understanding, "art," and being lesser of a species than those who understand the aesthetics of cinema.
This guy is beyond immature. Film is both art and a business, and there are films made for the artistry in them, while others for entertaining the audiences, or for commercial purposes. He should have become a writer/director/cinematographer/editor and tried to encase his vision into movies and work in art films primarily. It's not like he ever needed the money.
I don't know why this guy is an actor. He's basically whining that he didn't win the award - when we all acknowledge that Indian awards (apart from the National Award) are all rigged. The whole entitled view he projects on the world - for making a movie moreover, not like resolving issues around child abuse or global warming - is a reflection of the culture within Bollywood.
It's become a playground for insiders. It's sickening.
Look, i see where you are coming from and i do understand your frustrations. Thing is, this has been the way of the world for a very long time in ALL fields, not just movies. Yet, i found that most of us just take it & even go along with it without any real protest or even second thought.
Nepotism rules, it is no different in any other movie industry. Hwood has great stars for example, but they are where they are because of their connections. I personally Iam against any wrong doing. Harsh is standing up for himself in this case. And as he put it himself: had another REAL newcomer won, he would NOT have said a word. (i finally caught up on the controversy, hehe😳)
Diligit should have been nominated along with Shahid Kapoor, period. but he was not, because imho he would have won over Shahid, since his performance was better than his for many. This way, they are keeping all stars happy & the public is fooled because "an outsider finally gets a win over an insider, YAY"
I feel like that is the real issue at hand.
Movies are a business yes, with a crooked awards system. & you and I, we know that the business argument is the reason why insiders are being pushed over outsiders, as unfair as it is.
Iam neither a fan or a hater of his, i call it like it is imho. If someone got the means to get in a field, why not. I will not be the one to tell anyone to not try and follow their dreams. I see that too many (not you) are judging him just for being Anil Kapoor son and for taking advantage of the opportunities he has.
Just because Harsh has some privileges, it doesnt mean he has to take unfair mess. Where the boy is right, he is right. It would have been more elegant of him to swallow it yes, but he chose not to. His protest is definitly self-serving, yes. And i sincerely cannot blame him for doing so because, sadly, he has a good point. I only hope all this drama will help fix something that is not right with the system
