All gamblers believe there is that one chance, that one chance that will
change life for them, that one chance that will bring Lakshmi to them, to
strike it rich.
Vinu now is at a juncture where he has lost quite a fair bit but is unable to
stop as he still believes in that one chance.
How far will he go?
Will Mamaji find out and put a stop to this?
A long time ago, my friend's father used to place bets on horse races, he
even mortgaged his house etc, he lost everything in millions and he hung
himself in his bedroom when it come time to pay. My friend was just 13
years then. He left behind a wife and three kids who had to fend for
themselves.
There are many such stories. Many women approach the helplines with
this problem. In cities and countries where there are casinos, this must be
a perpetual problem.
Many gamblers end up borrowing from loan sharks who haress the family
after the culprit has absconded, leaving the family to pay the price.
Some even turn their wives into prostitutes to pay off their gambling
debts.
Gambling is such a vice that has far reaching reprecussions. Educational
status is no bar to this vice and certainly not financial standing.
It is an addiction.
What do you think?
