Aroona Irani spent Rs 10 lakh on Barkha Bisht's birthday. She plays Anupama in Aroona's Doli Saja Ke Back to Section Stories Posted On Monday, December 31, 2007

Ranjib Mazumder Never in her dreams could Barkha Bisht have thought that she would have such a lavish birthday bash as thrown by Aroona Irani. The actress, who plays Anupama in Aroona Irani's show Doli Saja Ke, was in for a surprise when she entered the sets. Aroona Irani had organised a surprise birthday party in her honour. She spent Rs 10 lakh on the bash. Barkha's birthday bash on the sets of Doli Saja Ke Barkha's birthday was on December 28 and according to the storyline, it was also her character Anupama's birthday in the show. So, the producers and the creative team decked up the sets lavishly. Kalyan Sundaram, programming head of the channel says, "Doli Saja Ke is the story of Anupama (Barkha Bisht) who is always hated by her father Vikram (Akshay Anand). Her father hates her because her mother died during childbirth and he considers her unlucky. With a twist in the storyline, the father realises that she is actually lucky and accepts her. They celebrate her birthday in a big way, this is also a celebration of their reunion." Sundaram adds, "Interestingly we came to know that it was also Barkha's real birthday on the day of the shoot, so it was a two-in-one celebration. We will telecast this episode next week." Oblivious of what had transpired, Barkha was a bit low-spirited on her birthday, until she entered the sets. She says, "I wanted a day off from work, but didn't get it, so I was a bit upset. I had to come for the shoot and when I entered the sets I was quite stunned to find the sets all decked up with lights and balloons. I was really overwhelmed when I saw that Aroonaji had brought a huge cake for me. Everyone on the sets showered me with gifts and wishes. So while we were having a ball we were also working towards canning an episode." Barkha is planning to treat all her unit members very soon. "Although I could not celebrate my birthday with friends I don't have any regrets. This was one of my finest birthday bashes ever. I totally agree with you. We need little bit more sweetness from Aroona Ji. We really want Amit back.
