"Kashaf Tum yahan?"

He asked while looking at her through his shades.

"Yeh toh mera sawal hona chahiye tha."

She smiled, leaving him a bit confused.

"Agar tumne dhayan nahi diya hai toh hum Maham ke school ke bahar khade hai."

She pointed at the big door in front.

"Oh yeah.Mera dhayan hi nahi gaya us taraf."

He smiled sheepishly to hide his embarrassment.

"Waise tum batao yaha kya kar rahe ho?"

She inquired.

"Woh actually abhi meri ek meeting thi yaha ke ek restaurant me but woh filhal ke liye cancel hogayi hai.Lekin ek masla hai."

He sighed while taking off his glasses.

"Kaisa masla?"

"Company ka masla. Zoron ki bhookh lagi hai aur akele mera zara bhi jee nahi chah raha restaurant me jane ko."

"Isme toh mujhe koi masla nazar nahi araha hai. Lunch ke liye kisi ki company ki kya zaroorat padne lagi?"

Saying she smirked a little.

"Mujhe masla nazar aa raha hai. Meri nazar se dekho toh tumhe bhi lagega yeh ek masla. Aisa kyu nahi karte ki tum aur Maham hi mujhe join karlo."

He said while picking up Maham in his arms.

"Jee Shukriya. Main aur Maham bahar khane peene ke adi nahi hai aur waise bhi ghar par rakha hua lunch kaun khayega?"

"Kashaf yeh toh bohot buri baat hai aur ek lame excuse. Us din tumne mujhe dinner par bulaya tha maine to koi bahane nahi mare. Upar se ek din bahar kha lene se kuch nahi hoga and the treat is on me don't worry."

Convinced that she will not agree he thought of a new way

"Choro main Maham se hi puchta hoon. Kya aap mere saath lunch par chalengi?"

He asked her sweetly, completely ignoring the presence of Kashaf.

"Mama please chalein na."

Maham requested her mother with pleading eyes.

"Nahi Maham hum ghar chalenge."

Kashaf glared at her daughter.

"Kashaf, Maham toh mere saath jana chahti hai. Tumhe agar ghar ka khana hai to please tum ja sakti ho. Maham ko lunch ke baad main chor dunga. Hai na Maham?"

Maham nodded in a yes immediately but seeing her mother's reaction she changed her decision.

"Theek hai Chalein."

Kashaf said coldly.

"After you."

Zaroon kept talking to Maham the entire time and surprisingly even Maham was jabbering with him, which was not something she did with strangers. Yes, she has met him before but those were extremely brief encounters to have developed such a bond. She smiled at her daughter's response. She was certainly enjoying the way the two behaved with each other.

While they were engrossed in having their dinner, a voice took over their attention. The trio turned to see who it was.

"Zaroon Kashaf. Omg! It's been like years. "

Said the girl,while pacing towards them. Seeing a bit of a confused expression she guessed

"You guys don't remember me. Do you?"

She sighed and continued.

"Haan yaar yaad bhi kahan se rahungi. Maine toh kuch maah me hi college chor diya tha. Waise main yaad kara doon ap logon ko ki main kaun hoon. I am Nisha."

"Oh yes. Of course. "

Said Zaroon while smiling at her.

"Waise yeh khata maaf karein. Apke saath un chand dino mein toh humne kitna acha waqt guzara tha. Kaise bhool gaye apko hairat hai.Lekin apse to kuch raabta hi nahi tha isliye woh bas.."

He tried giving an explanation.

"Chaliye koi baat nahi, samjhte hai hairat ki koi baat nahi hai. Waise hairat toh mujhe tab hoti agar main ap dono ko saath na dekhti. Toh finally ap dono ne apni feelings samjhi aur shaadi kar li. Yakeenan yeh apki beti hai. Bohot pyaari hai.Kya naam hai apka?"

"Maham."

"Bada pyara naam hai."

While Nisha was in conversation with Maham, Kashaf looked at Zaroon and signaled him to clarify things but before he could even explain anything, Nisha again started speaking

"Waise tum log bohot sahi time par mile ho. Parso meri shaadi hai and please tum dono ko ana hai. Please koi bahana nahi. Woh chand ache pal jo humne saath guzare hain uske waste hi sahi.Unko yaad kar ke hi ajayega please."

"Nisha.."

Someone shouted her name in the background.

"Acha main late ho rahi hoon. Please yeh card rakhein aur main ap dono ko zaroor nikah me dekhna chahti hoon."

Even before things could be explained, she was out of the scene.

"Zaroon tumne use kuch kaha kyun nahi?"

Kashaf asked him in anger.

"Tum toh dekh hi rahi thi ki woh khud hi bole jaa rahi thi. Usne mujhe mauka hi kaha diya yaar."

"Phir bhi tumhe usse sach kehna chahiye tha. Usne pata nahi kya kya soch liya itne thode si dair mein."

"Is hisab se tum bhi usse keh sakti thi na.Tum bhi toh yehi thi. Wo koi akele mujhse toh baat nahi kar rahi thi. Aur Kashaf filhal tum zyada soch rahi ho. Agar woh hume yaha aise dekhegi toh aur kya sochegi? Main use blame nahi karunga."

"Isiliye main aise..yahan..hargiz nahi ana chahti thi. Par tum aur tumhari zidd."

She said while fumbling a bit.

"Kashaf now I believe tum over react kar rahi ho. Khair hum use uske shaadi mein sab bata denge. It's ok yaar."

He said feeding a spoon to Maham.

"It's not ok Zaroon. Humare beech aisa koi rishta nahi hai isliye main hargiz kisi ko galat hint nahi dena chahti. Aur tumhe kyun lagta hai ki main tumhare saath shaadi par jaungi?Ho kaun tum mere."

She asked with rage in her eyes.

Zaroon looked at her for a moment and gulped a lump down his throat.

"Koi rishta ho na ho hum dost toh hain na?Ya ab main us category mein bhi nahi ata. Aur rahi baat shaadi me jane ki maine toh yehi socha tha ki uske request ke baad tum mana nahi kar paogi. But then it's completely your call."

Kashaf kept the spoon on the plate and sternly asked Maham to finish her food as they were getting late. Zaroon just kept looking at her with a bit of confusion and disappointment. He never really thought that she would make an issue out of a small mistake. A mistake, he wasn't even a party of. Kashaf soon left the restaurant with Maham. While on her way back home the only thing that kept ringing in her mind like an alarm was Nisha's statement.

" Toh finally ap dono ne apni feelings samjhi aur shaadi kar li. "

She wondered if the things were really this obvious. Of course they were, she thought.

"Why couldn't he feel it? Why couldn't he see it? If a girl having only spent a few months could realize it. Why couldn't he? "

Her mind repeatedly asked this question.

In the evening, Kashaf was sitting in the veranda still thinking about the lunch when she was startled by the ring of her phone. She probably knew who it was and she had indeed guessed it right,

"Kaho Zaroon? Ab phir se tumhe koi masla hai kya?"

"Kyun main kya sada tumhe tabhi yaad karta hoon jab masailo ne mujhe gher rakha ho."

He argued while laughing.

"Zaroon toh phir kis liye tumne mujhe call kiya hai?"

"Kashaf tumne Nisha ki shaadi ke bare mein kya soha hai?"

"Maine kya sochna hai. Jo sochna hai use sochna hai aur uske ghar walon ko sochna hai."

"Uffo Kashaf mera matlab tha ki tum chal rahi ho ya nahi?"

"Pata nahi."

"I think hume chalna chahiye. Usne bohot pyaar se bulaya hai. Acha nahi lagega na aur phir waha hum use sach bhi bata denge. Bas ek galat faimi hi toh huyi thi."

He tried convincing her.

"Theek hai."

"toh main tumhe aur Maham ko kitne baje pick karun?"

"Hum saath nahi jayenge..."

Before she could say more, he interrupted her.

"Ek jagah hi toh jana hai."

"Ek jagah zaroor jana hai but humari manzlien zindagi me ek nahi hai.main yeh nahi chahti ki jo galat faimi aaj Nisha ko huyi hai woh bakiyon ko bhi ho. aur phir hum kitne logon ko explain karenge?"

"Expalin karne ki kya zaroorat hai? Jise jo sochna hai use hum woh sochne kyun nahi de sakte?"

He asked in a low tone.

"Kyun ki jab aisa kuch hai hi nahi toh logon ko aisa samjhna bhi nahi chahiye. Shaadi mein mulakat hogi. Allah Hafiz."

Saying she kept the phone without waiting for a reply.
