As the ravens caw from dark silhouetted branches, and mansions, hidden in the depths of bare woods, yawn darkness and solitude, Friday the 13th of January descends upon us unwary souls. However, PriVeerians, ever the contrary lot that they are, discover to their delight that this ominous day is not one to fear. In fact, it is not even one to ignore!

For today is the birthday of our beloved hero, our boy, Ayush Anand, the man with the iron biceps and twisted sneers, bringing to life on screen the ACP with a penchant for old school suspenders and new age glares. The man who swept us off our collective feet with his silky voice and magnificent performance. The man who came out of nowhere and all of a sudden, took over the fandom by storm. The man who walked over to us and demanded that 'Nobody put Prinku in the corner!'

So ACP diwanis, come one, come all! Let the party begin! Make the night come alive with your messages of love!

And as the happiness flows, unabated and unabashed, let the dancing and cakes mix in with the anecdotes we dream up for our much beloved ACP Ranveer Singh Randhawa!

Let us add the PriVeer touch to this birthday party!!

...The day you came on screen to give some Tadi to SSO, the biggest tadibaz. We all were rooting for you. We thought you can put some sense into the loggerhead. Then slowly you strong portrayal and brilliant effort made me fall for you. I have seen a sparkle in your eyes, you eyes speak volume. In my opinion the show is not doing justice with the character ACP, still we are hooked to it because of your magnificent performance.

A birthday surprise

Ranvi sighed as he sat on the fallen trunk of the gulmohar tree. Papa had taken Ma to Doctor uncle's house early in the morning. He had woken up to the sound of someone bustling around in his room. Opening his sleep-sealed eyes, he had barely made out his Papa hunting around for something in the cupboard. Seeing that Ranvi had woken up, Papa had come to him, and hugged him. He had told him to be a good boy and not worry Naani who was visiting them. Papa had to take Ma to Doctor uncle's house because she wasn't feeling too well. Ranvi had hugged Papa and not allowed himself to cry. Ma had not been well for the past few days.

Ranvi kicked a stone lying at his feet and the tiny pebble rolled forward and struck the pile of dried leaves that Bhola, the gardener and tormentor of Ranvi, had left to be burned. As it hit the leaves, a chameleon jumped out. Ranvi didn't even blink an eye or rush to pick it up as he would have done on any other day. It was his birthday after all and till now no one had wished him. Not even Naani. As she had prayed that morning and then placed the tilak on his forehead after the aarti, he had expected her to say 'Happy birthday'. But no. She had opened her mouth and then had instructed Lakshmi to lay out breakfast. At least, breakfast had been his favourite aloo puri, but it wasn't everyday that a boy turned eight.

Ranvi got up from his perch and grimly walked to the end of the garden. Then leaning against the railing, he stared out towards the road. He had been staring down that road all morning, hoping to spot their car head home, carrying his Ma and Papa in it. But no. All his waiting had been in vain. He stifled the fear. Papa had told him that there was nothing to worry. And Papa never lied.

Ranvi turned back to the house as the road showed no sign of any vehicles. He found Naani asleep in the drawing room. She had been reading the newspaper and had fallen asleep as she read. Her glasses dangled at the end of her nose, threatening to slip and fall at any moment. The house lay silent. Ranvi made his way to his room and decided to read the book Doctor uncle had lent him last week. It was about a boy who sets out with a bunch of pirates in search of treasure.

As he got more and more engrossed in the novel, he didn't hear the sound of the car engine or that of the front door opening. However, his trance was broken by the sight of his Papa's face peeking in through his bedroom door. Papa wore his usual solemn look.

"Ranvi, your mother wants to speak to you," said Papa.

As Ranvi ran out of the room, Papa called out to him, "She's in the hall!"

Ranvi raced down to the hall, but came to a stop just as he neared his mother who sat in her customary couch. For in her lap, lay a ball of golden fur! As he stared, the ball unrolled itself, and a tiny head came out. The puppy mewled.

"Happy birthday Ranvi!" said his mother, smiling as she held forth the pup.

From behind, his Papa said, "Happy birthday Ranvi!"

Naani, peered at him over her glasses and with a look of pure delight mixed in with relief, said 'Happy birthday Ranveer!"

It had been difficult to keep the promise her daughter and son-in-law had extracted from her to not wish her grandson on his birthday before they got the surprise gift for him. Dr. Rathode's golden retriever had delivered a litter only a couple of months back and he had promised them one for Ranveer as soon as it was time. When Ranveer's mother had felt unwell, he had told them to come over for a check up and collect the pup at the same time.

As Ranvi cuddled the puppy, his Ma hugged him and said, "So Doctor uncle says that you are going to be a Bhaiya. How do you feel about a little baby brother or sister, Ranvi?"

The puppy yelped as Ranvi's face lit up with delight. Finally he would have not one, but two companions to play with!
