I am a married Indian woman. I stayed in India for a yr post marriage and then moved abroad. Trust me when I say this, in India more than we care abt ourselves or the relationship with the spouse we are more focussed on ensuring that we fit into the societal norms of being a dil. I too had initial frictions in adjusting to the new family and every time I faced a hurdle my mom would turn up to put my point across thinking that it was her responsibility as a parent to look after my welfare similar to bijoy. This only ended up in causing further friction as the families started getting involved even in matters that were supposed to limited to both if us. I wasn't even living in a joint family but yet both of us failed miserably to keep both our parents out.
Once we moved out things changed drastically I could be myself and he could be himself. Today both our parents visit us often and both of us can easily make out the difference right from their actions, speech and thoughts when they are here with us and when we go back to India visiting them . Its like we r seeing a 2 different set of people altogether. I strongly believe, more the people it is the environment in which they live that decides the traits of a person.

because of mothers like Asha who teach them compromise means giving in every time. asha always speaks from POV of Ishwari and never her own daughter. asha assumes Ishwari's behavior stems from unconditional love for her children but she is wrong. Ishwari only thinks of herself, her needs and bache jaayein bhaaD mein!

this show is ridiculous. havent watched in weeks now. just njoying comments on forum now.
