Today is my last daily post. So the post is slightly long, please bear with me.I am writing three scenario here. Read until the end to find out why I wrote it.
1. A couple lives a very rich and affluent lifestyle. One day the police comes home to arrest the man because he has stolen money from his employer (in short, has done embezzlement). The wife is shocked. She asked the man if he has indeed stolen money from the company? The man says, "But darling, I did everything to make you happy. So could you not tell the police that I stole the money and thus be my partner in my crime since I stole for you?"
2. A girl is constantly bullied by another girl. She doesn't complain but her boyfriend notices the other girl hassling her. Now the girl who is the bully comes from a rich family under whom his father works, so he doesn't have the guts to stand up to the bully for his girlfriend. So what he does instead is bribes someone to throw acid on the girl who was bullying his girlfriend. The bully gets badly burnt and gets taken into hospital. Her affluent father traces the source back to the girl who was bullied and accuses her for his daughter's condition who is blameless in all this. She asks her boyfriend if he did it, he says, "Darling, I did it for you. So could you keep silent on this because I did it for your own good?
3. A girl thinks that her boyfriend is not marrying her, so she decides to tip his hand. She tells him that she is pregnant. The boyfriend was happy even though he didn't particularly wanted to be a father at this point of his life. He married the girl and both family eagerly was anticipating the birth of the child. He also read up on babies and started to dream about the baby. One day he finds out that she was never pregnant. She tells him, "But darling, I did it for you. You were so happy for our child. But don't tell anyone that I am not pregnant. We will figure something out later."
Now I'd like you to tell me if you see "Selfless Love" in any of the examples I gave you. Can you justify any of the incidents I described.
Would you say that for each crime, "I did it for you" is a sufficient excuse?
Now you might say Dev didn't commit any crime. Well, he would have if the Doctor hadn't backed away. Also, I don't know about others, but in my book, someone who hurts other person and breaks their trust, hopes and dreams are bigger criminal than someone who just plunges a knife on someone. And Dev deliberately hurt everyone knowing full well the consequences of his action.
Love is not easy that you hold your hand and it falls on your lap. To love and be loved in return by the person you love is the most fortunate thing that can happen to any human being.
So to earn that fortune, you have to be worthy of it.
Dev had it easy. He fell in love with Sona and she fell on his lap like a ripened mango.
The first time he had to face adverse situation, he ran the other way. People justify that when he saw his mother in hospital what could he have done?
Well, if Sona had tried to commit suicide because Dev is not leaving his mother, what would he have done then? Leave his mother and move out with Sonakshi?
Exactly. When a man or woman can't live without someone, they try to remove the barrier that stands between them with patience.
Dev could have convinced his mother how much he loves Sona and can't live without her. But he made her believe with his attitude that Sona was temporary infatuation that he got rid of.
That was the start of Ishwari's belief of Sona's place in Dev's life.
Until he almost lost Sona, he didn't fight for her. In fact even then, his attitude was like dog in manger. He didn't want Sona, but he didn't want Sona to be happy either.
Anyways, finally his drunken confession made Ishwari act and she brought Sona back into his life.
Now he found out that Sona is infertile. Again the question, what could he have done?
Why, tell the truth to Sona like he did yesterday and be her support, like he tried to be yesterday. Only it was too little, too late.
If Sonakshi and his family was against this marriage, he could have stood firm and tell everyone that Sona is the woman he loves and that's the only woman he will marry. If he doesn't marry Sona, no one is getting any grandchild anyway, because he won't marry someone else, nor have children with anyone else.
That's fighting for one's love. That's being worthy of love.
People fight for things that matter. I may not care about saving the whales, but I will fight for equality until my last breath. Because for me, equality matters. But for someone else, the saving the whales cause might matter more.
But the fact that Dev never fought for his love, proves that she doesn't matter enough. In my book, Dev Dixit understands possession, he doesn't understand love nor he is worthy of it.
If he fights for his love even today, but it's still too late and never will be enough because there have been enough murky water under the bridge.
EPISODE: Sona cries to Asha about her situation and Asha as usual, typical Indian mentality style tells her to be "understanding" because Dev has selfless love for her.
Me: May be Sona this time listen to your dad. Because your mother's advice only got you heartbreaks, insults and deceit. I don't think your mother is capable of understanding what you are going through because her own husband had never did it to her.
Dev goes to temple and Ishwari comes there. She asks for the truth which of course Dev is incapable of speaking. He hopes that tomorrow when Sona speaks the truth, may be Ishwari's focus will be on Sona. Why reveal the truth now when you are the lone target, when you can drag it for another day and make a public spectacle of your wife in front of the whole family?
Here Bijoy Bose is angry when Saurabh reveals that when Sona and Saurabh were looking for business loan, Dev gave them Rs. 5 Crore. Asha is delighted that they will never get another son-in-law like Dev.
Me: So two thing is clear. Sona never lied to Dev. So those people who were using the fact Sonakshi didn't tell Dev about Saurabh now has no reason to justify Dev's obvious lies with Sonakshi's minor omission. So there's is only one lier.
And Asha, until now I thought you are a wise woman. I have to take it back from you. Your son-in-law is great just because he gave your son money and married her knowing that she can't conceive?
Is this the mentality we have in society? SHAME!!!
A man who loves a woman would have married her whether she can conceive or not because he can't imagine his life without her. It's not a favour. It's for the sake of his own love.
But as usual Sonakshi gets brainwashed by her mother. However, Sona's pain and tears don't move me anymore. Her laments are she can never give his mother happiness more than the fact that she can't ever be a mother. She is a freaking doctor. She should know that there are many ways a woman can be a mother. The fact that she is still lamenting on Ishwari has killed all sympathy in me.
Next morning, Dev and Sona comes down and Mami starts with her insults. (Dev of course doesn't say anything. Because he has the more important thing in mind, where his adult mother went. Sona's insults are not even in his mental register)
Radha remembers that Ishwari left with a threat to show what a mother can do for her children.
Me: Well, Ishwari, a mother can do a lot of things like thinking about what her children are going through, being there for them, being "UNDERSTANDING". But I forgot, you believe in whips and chains and not hugs and care.
Elena asks Sona the truth, Sona says she will say it later.
Me: Save it Sonakshi. What you have to say, no one wants to listen. And your husband made a reputation that no one wants to believe. So just swallow the insults. That's all you are good for.
Obviously Ishwari becomes again the focas of worry which sent Dev and Sona into a tizzy. Here this girl has gone through a massive heartbreak. Any normal person would not have give a damn about anyone right now. But nope. She is TV bahu, martyrdom is in her character profile...
Sona tells Asha that Ishwari found out and left home. Bijoy tells Asha that it was exactly as he feared. So he goes to Dixit house with everyone.
Me: Bijoy, I wish Sona called you first. You are the only one who knows Dixits inside out.
Here Radha is taunting Sona and Dev is happy to share the blame. After all that's why he didn't reveal the truth last night himself and faced all blame alone.
They are all frantically searching for Ishwari.
Sona goes to temple and prays for miracle. Not for having a baby. That is hardly her priority. Nope. She prays to get her "mother" back who by the way only left for less than a few hours since this is only morning.
Precap: Sona does Aarti at temple. Ishwari sitting there depressed.
Now Sona, if you really want to score Martyr/Bahu/Biwi points for understanding, tell Ishwari that you are the lier and take the blame on yourself. Trust me, nothing Ishwari loves more than to hate you. She will be happy to put all her son's misdeeds on you.
Dev will be happy to get away scot free again. Then he can go back to being a spectator at your public daily insults and humiliation and romance/have easy sex/show his manhood to you in private.
You can get your place in the TV Land's doormat wall of fame with other TV bahus...
And we, the viewers, who were hoping for "Nayi Soch" can write off the show finally.
Everyone is happy.
The End.
Happy New Year, everyone!!!
