Labour wards in Indian hospitals

I still don't think newborns are brought out of the labour wards to outpatient waiting areas. Never mind. That would be all about logic.

Yes Dads are allowed inside the delivery room, infact Dads r encouraged to be part of the delivery, support their wives, cut the umbilical cord, hold the child just after delivery.

In our hospital, we allow patient's husband to be there with her in the labor room.
That is a beautiful experience.
As obstetricians, we also get full fledged support of the husband in motivating the woman when they are pushing.
It is a beautiful scene to watch - the parents with the baby as a unit.
Recently, I had a patient whose husband was in Saudi.
She went into preterm labor ,
When I am walking into the labor room,
I saw the husband on face time on the phone at the head side of the patient.
That was an amazing experience for the couple & for me.
I was awed by the technology where dear ones can be with u in times of need when you are miles apart.
She delivered normally.
Next day when I met that husband he had tears. He couldn't thank me enough for that wonderful experience.

Coming to showing babies outside, uncomplicated ones, definitely we will bring them & show - our hospital through a glass window, where relatives are on the other side, father having the baby in his arms & showing to their family. - a proud moment.

If its operation no one is allowed inside
